'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' is still set to keep to its November release date, what can we expect from the upcoming movie?
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is on track for its November 21 release date, despite the tragic death of cast member Philip Seymour Hoffman earlier this year. We’re keeping our eyes peeled for a Mockingjay trailer, which should hopefully be released over the coming weeks. But even with the absence of a trailer, what can we expect to see from the upcoming film?
Prepare to see less Katniss and Peeta, more Finnick and Gale
We left Katniss Everdeen in the unexpected hands of Hoffman’s character, Plutarch Heavensbee, and Finnick Odair, played by Sam Claflin. Claflin has revealed that the movie is “going very well and looks amazing”, adding, “There’s a lot more to come.”

More Yummy Finnick
We certainly predict there will be a lot more Fininick in Mockingjay. His character was beginning to grow throughout Catching Fire, although Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, was always on the fence over whether or not to trust him. Finnick’s character looks set to be developed in Mockingjay, we’re hoping to hear a bit more of his backstory and find out the mysterious story behind him and “Annie”.
More Yummy Hemsworth
Generally, everything in life could do with a bit more Hemsworth (either of them, we’re not really bothered). Fortunately, it seems as though there will be more Liam in the next Hunger Games movie. Hemworth’s character Gale has been relatively absent throughout the first two films, despite being considered a major character. Katniss’ feelings for Peeta have developed so much over the last couple of films, we feel a climactic end is in store for the love triangle. Katniss is told in Catching Fire that Gale bravely saved as many District 12 citizens as possible when the Capitol began to drop bombs, so it seems as though he’ll be playing a more substantial and active role from now on.
Girl Power
Julianne Moore has been cast as Alma Coin, president on District 13 and nemesis of the calculating President Snow. Both Tilda Swinton and Jodie Foster were considered fan favorites for the role, with Moore winning out in September 2013. We’ll have to wait and see how Alma Coin and Katniss handle life at the heart of a revolution.
CGI Hoffman
The world when shocked by the sad passing of Philip Seymour Hoffman, and although it is little consolation, he will still have a substantial role in Mockingjay. The majority of his scenes were filmed before his death and those that weren’t will be filled in by CGI. Fans may question how realistic the CGI performance will be, but it’s something we’re just going to have to wait and see.
Some of Hoffman's scenes will be filled in with CGI
Location, Location, Location
Mockingjay will be different from the previous films, as there will be no ‘Hunger Games’ or arena, instead the action will take place in the Capitol. So, prepare yourselves for a serious scene change and shift in mood for Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.
