Who posed competition for Bey on the red carpet?
It was the fashion Oscars last night (June 6th 2016) at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York; the CFDA Fashion Awards presented a host of the most glamorous women in showbusiness as it announced the designers and icons who have bagged prizes this year.
Jennifer Hudson gave some Red Queen glamour
Of course, it was Beyonce who landed the coveted Fashion Icon Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and indeed she showed off her talents in the wardrobe department by eschewing the traditional red carpet gown in favour of a striped pant-suit and an enormous brimmed hat (kind of like a cross between Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder in the same film). Bey-utiful. It's just as well she opted for something a little different given that her contemporaries were especially difficult to beat; Jennifer Hudson showed off her enviable curves in a black and red Prabal Gurung piece that was more reminiscent of the Red Queen.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was Michael Kors approved
If anyone was the White Queen is was Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in her Michael Kors slinky backless number, which Kors himself appeared to approve highly of. Morgan Macgregor and Jessica Hart also went white, with Vogue Editor-In-Chief adding a floral embellishment to her own ivory outfit.
Naomi Campbell was braid beautiful
The veteran supermodels also managed to steal plenty of attention; Naomi Campbell was a picture of youth with a long hair-braid cascading down her plunging black Brandon Maxwell dress, while Heidi Klum went for a textured black and white Roland Mouret design. Iman was noticeably absent from the models' corner, despite the fact that her late husband David Bowie was being honoured with a Board of Directors' Tribute Award.

Despite the summer months approaching, black seemed to be a popular colour again. America Ferrera wore a high-necked Kate Spade gown in noir, SoKo favoured a sheer gothic piece and Zosia Mamet teamed her blackness with a spangled red head band.

Olivia Wilde opted for dark green instead, but made it a form fitting number with cut-out sides to show off her burgeoning baby bump. The actress announced that she was pregnant again in April, expecting her second child with fiance Jason Sudeikis with whom she already shares her 2-year-old son Otis Alexander.

More of the best dressed from this year's CFDAs include 'Orange Is The New Black' star Laverne Cox with her epic flaired sleeves and Jessica Chastain whose black strapless frock was a little on the Autumnal side with its silver leaf embellishment.
