'Supernatural' actor Jared Padalecki has upset fans after calling Philip Seymour Hoffman's death "stupid" on twitter.
‘Supernatural’ star Jared Padalecki has come under fire after he branded the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman as “senseless” and “stupid.” The 31 year old actor took to Twitter after news of the Oscar winner's death broke and tweeted,”"Sad" isn't the word I'd use to describe a 46 year old man throwing his life away to drugs. "Senseless" is more like it. “Stupid"". He has since deleted the tweet.

Many users of the social media site took exception to Padalecki’s comments finding them insensitive and inaccurate. Padalecki tried to defend himself after coming under fire by tweeting, “I didn't mean PSH is stupid or that addiction isnt a reality. I simply meant I have a different definition of “tragedy,” followed by, “when I think "tragedy", I think of St Judes, of genocide, of articles I read in the paper. But, yes, either way, a death, is sad”. However many fans were still angry and his twitter account was bombard with angry tweets.
Hoffman was found dead in his New York apartment on Sunday morning, the apparent victim of a heroin overdose. The actor, who was said to have fallen off the wagon recently after being clean for 23 years, was reportedly found with a needle sticking out of his arm. The 46 year old was best known for his Oscar wining portrayal of writer Truman Capote, in Capote.
Many other celebrities have taken to twitter to express their feelings on the passing of Hoffman. Actor Jim Carey wrote, “dear Philip, a beautiful beautiful soul. For the most sensitive among us the noise can be too much.” While comedian Ricky Gervais wrote, “Such shocking & sad news. RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman. One of the greatest actors of a generation and a sweet, funny & humble man.”

Padalecki is best known for his role as Sam Winchester on 'Supernatural', he had previously played the recurring role of Dean Forester on 'Gilmore Girls'. His twitter account has over 1.2 million followers.
