There’s been quite a number of photos and teasers over the last month or so from the set of Suicide Squad that have been endlessly pored over, but director David Ayer has assured fans that they haven’t given anything away and that there’s still surprises to come.

The Warner Bros.-backed movie wrapped up shooting on the streets of Toronto last week, and the 47 year old director took to Twitter to say that the surprises that the film has in store for fans remain intact, and have not been compromised in any way by the large amount of material already in the public arena.

DC Comics fans, stop what you’re doing and pay attention! Suicide Squad director David Ayers has shared the first official photographs of the main cast in full costume on Twitter, including Will Smith as Deadshot.

The movie, whose release is still fifteen months away, concerns a motley crew of supervillains who conduct covert operations on behalf of the US government in exchange for receiving cuts to the lengths of their prison sentences. Ayer's photos are the first opportunity for fans of the comic books to get a flavour of the visual aesthetics that the director will be bringing to the picture.

Unless you’ve been living under an entertainment free rock you’ll know that Jared Leto is set to play The Joker in David Ayer’s upcoming Suicide Squad movie. Of course you’ll probably also know that Leto has been undergoing a pretty drastic transformation in recent months in order to become the DC villain. Well prepare to see things taken one step further as the first official image of Leto's Joker has been revealed.

Director David Ayer shared the first official image of Leto in full on Joker garb on Friday, on the 75th anniversary of the character’s first comic book appearance. With his hair cropped and dyed green, the 43 year old cut a pretty menacing figure in the pic, which also showed him sporting silver capped teeth and a variety of tattoos.

The square hairdo and blurry, 80s-looking filter add a nice arty touch, but the camera Leto is holding seems to call back to one of the character's most iconic covers -The Killing Joke. It's one of the few origin stories for the Joker. The pic was tweeted on Thursday by Suicide Squad director David Ayer, who added the hashtag #whereisjared.

It had to happen one day, but we’re still deeply sadden to report that Jared Leto’s long, shiny, ombré-d locks are unfortunately no more. Against our wishes, the 43 year old actor took a trip to the hairdressers yesterday, in preparation for his upcoming role as The Joker in David Ayer's Suicide Squad movie.

Oscar winner Leto was just as well known for his luscious mane as he was for his acting talents, so the loss of his locks has hit fans hard. The handsome actor has sported the long haired look since 2012, though he has previously rocked a shorter style and even had a pink mohican in 2010.

It’s time to talk about the Grammys – which, of course, would be impossible without talking about Taylor Swift and Sam Smith. The young powerhouses of pop came out on top with two and four nods, respectively. But they had to wait a while to celebrate this year. Instead of the typical primetime concert, the Grammys turned Nomination Day into an actual day-long event this year.

In possibly controversial news, the casting for DC Comics’ supervillain team-up movie Suicide Squad has been announced, and the biggest news of all is that Jared Leto has been selected to portray the Joker, and starring roles have also been given to Will Smith and Tom Hardy.

Late on Tuesday, Warner Bros. confirmed the highly anticipated casting. Smith will play Deadshot, and Hardy will play the group’s leader Rick Flagg. The rest of the Suicide Squad will be Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.

The 42 year old has instead been spending time working on his other career, as frontman for band 30 Seconds to Mars. Actor and singer Jared Leto was treated to a surprise beard trim when he made an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ on Wednesday. Host Jimmy Fallon, in his trademark style, offered the 42 year old star some advice.

Jared Leto isn’t like most Oscar winners. He’s been criticised for his role as the transgender character Rayon, and not 48 hours after his Best Supporting Actor win for the role, it has been announced that he and his band – 30 Seconds to Mars – are off on a massive tour with Linkin Park.

He and his 16-year-old rock band, will perform in San Diego Sept. 16 at Sleep Train Amphitheatre. They have middle-billing between the headlining Linkin Park and AFI to kick off the Carnivore Tour. Explaining the title of the tour, Linkin Park's Sinoda said: "Carnivores is a metaphor that is meant to convey an appetite for something visceral and substantive, and I feel that’s exactly the hunger this tour will feed."

One way to view the Academy Awards last night was through the eyes of the stars themselves, as many of them took to Instagram and Twitter to keep us up to date with their Oscar night happenings.
