Into The Woods star James Corden considered turning down the Officer of the British Empire (Obe) medal he was awarded in Queen Elizabeth Ii's New Year's Honours list, because he didn't think he was worthy of the accolade.

The British funnyman was honoured by the Queen for services to drama, but he admits accepting the award was not an easy decision.

Corden tells the Bbc, "Turning it down doesn't really exist - you have to say if you'd accept it before it's offered. You get a letter that says you've been put forward for an Obe and if you were to be given it would you accept?"

The actor/comedian admits he had a long chat with his wife before agreeing to accept the Obe, insisting there are far more people who deserved the medal.

He adds, "You're painfully aware there are so many people who deserve it so much more. Then you sort of think, 'I went to Holmer Green Upper School in High Wycombe (England), and I don't know how many of my year are getting letters like this'.

"I'm honoured to accept it, I don't know if it's deserved or not. It will be a nice day to take my parents (to Buckingham Palace) and thank them for the sacrifices they made for me to be able to do this as a job. It's lovely."
