James Bond Tom Hiddleston Daniel Craig

The seemingly interminable speculation about who is set to become the next James Bond actor have taken another turn, with the revelation that Tom Hiddleston stands little chance of landing the part because, according to a producer, he’s “too smug”.

Bond chief Barbara Broccoli is reportedly not enamoured with the idea of The Night Manager actor Hiddleston, 35, playing 007 in the future, according to a new report by the New York Post’s Page Six.

“Barbara Broccoli doesn’t like Tom Hiddleston, he’s a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond," a source told the publication on Wednesday (April 5th).

Pierce Brosnan Wasn't Very Impressed By 'Spectre'

Pierce Brosnan Daniel Craig James Bond

Although it came out to an initial flurry of five-star reviews, the latest James Bond flick Spectre has experienced something of a critical backlash in the last fortnight or so. Former 007 actor Pierce Brosnan has become the latest to add his voice to those complaints, describing the movie as “too long”.

Giving an interview to entertainment website HitFix, 62 year old Brosnan admitted that he felt slightly let down by the 24th Bond movie. “I was looking forward to it enormously,” he said. “I thought it was too long. The story was kind of weak — it could have been condensed. It kind of went on too long. It really did.”

The actor, who portrayed the iconic British spy in four movies between 1995 and 2002, argued that it wasn’t distinctive enough and felt rather too much like the Bourne franchise.

He’s accepted a BAFTA Fellowship Award for over sixty years of service to the film industry, as well as a lifetime achievement award from the British Film Institute. Yet Sir Christopher Lee, now 92, and still maintaining a commendable acting repertoire, has just begun a career as a heavy metal vocalist. That’s right, the legendary actor and go-to Hollywood villain also possesses a serious set of pipes, and his ominous baritone has found a natural home within the most melodramatic of genres.

The British actor, who had carved out a remarkable career in stage and independent films before 12 Years A Slave, seems ready now to firmly take his place among the Hollywood A-List. It’s been a long time coming for a man who has five Golden Globe nominations and now an Oscar nod to his name.

The young actor then got his first big movie break after being cast in Steven Spielberg's film Amistad in 1997.

The 2002 movie Dirty Pretty Things brought Chiwetel Ejiofor’s talents to real critical acclaim for the first time. For his performance he was nominated for a string of awards and won the British Independent Film Award for best actor and the Evening Standard British Film Award for best actor. The following year Ejiofor would be seen as part of the all star British cast of Love Actually, before taking on his first leading role in British drama Red Dust, opposite Hillary Swank. Before Bourne, there was Bond. James Bond is a name that has become synonymous with the idea of classic British sophistication and suave. Professionally trained and with a license to kill, 007 has been played by some of the most debonair actors in the business, including Sean Connery and Roger Moore. The role has been much sought after and many an actor has been on the disappointing receiving end of a casting call - and some you wouldn’t even imagine would ever have been in the running to begin with.

Is William Boyd's Drinking, Smoking James Bond, Michael Fassbender?

James Bond Michael Fassbender

William Boyd, the acclaimed novelist who has penned the latest James Bond novel Solo, says he had no intention of watering down Ian Fleming's best loved character and insists his 007 is still a heavy drinker and smoker.

In a press conference at London's Dorchester Hotel this week, Boyd - who claimed Daniel Day Lewis should play the secret agent - said, "It seems to me he [Bond] wants a relationship..It is not just casual sex." It led some fans to infer that the James Bond in Solo would be more of a straight-shooter than previous incarnations, though Boyd insists this is not the case.

"I have no desire to water down or make Bond more acceptable to modern sensibilities," he explained, "He drinks, he smokes, he does everything you would expect of a classic Bond."

Daniel Day-Lewis Will Not Play James Bond. And William Boyd Never Said It.

James Bond Daniel Day Lewis

The internet went into overdrive yesterday with news that three-times Oscar winner and the greatest actor on the planet, Daniel Day-Lewis, would play 007 himself, James Bond. Ok, so there wasn't anything like confirmation, but judging by the way both the tabloid and broadsheets span a couple of comments from Bond author William Boyd, the whole thing seemed bizarrely nailed on.

So let's take a quick look at what was said at the press conference in London, where Boyd was launching his new 007 book Solo. Asked by one of the gathered journalists which actor would play 'his' Bond, the author innocuously replied, "I think Daniel Day-Lewis actually resembles the Bond Fleming described," which is fair enough, given Ian Fleming described his creation as "tall" and "rangy."

James Bond Lotus Submarine Car From ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ Up For Auction For The First Time Ever

James Bond Roger Moore

James Bond fans could be able to own a mouth-watering piece of Bond memorabilia as long as they aren't afraid to splash their cash.

The Lotus submarine car used in 'The Spy Who Loved Me' is going up for sale at a Battersea auction in South London for the first time ever and is expected to go under the hammer for £650,000 to £950,000.

The ex-Bond car was specifically used and designed for underwater scenes in the 1977 Bond movie starring Roger Moore as 007, and is said to be still a fully functional vehicle. Maybe it doesn't have the 'button' Moore pressed to replace its wheels with fins as he guided into the ocean, in typical nonchalant Bond-esque style - as propellers emerged from the rear and a periscope popped out of the roof to transform it into the Lotus submarine - but it can still drive.

The Sun's Bizarre has reported that the new James Bond movie, and follow-on from this year's enormously successful Skyfall, will be titled Devil May Care after Sebastian Faulk's 2008 novel which was written to celebrate a century since Bond creator IAN FLEMING's 1908 birth. Sam Mendes, after originally saying he wouldn't return to direct the 24th Bond film, has been confirmed as the director to the Skyfall sequel.

Like Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig Will Also Return For The 24th Bond Movie.

Although no title has been confirmed yet, Daniel Craig is expected to return as the titular Bond for the fourth time, despite the next film rumoured to be the 45 year-old actor's last after Skyfall showed the spy aging in an increasingly technological world. Bond fans shouldn't hold their breath for the next instalment of 007 adventures - due to Mendes' theatre commitments the as-yet untitled 24th Bond film will be released in late 2015. There's no wonder that producer's were happy to accommodate Mendes' other plans into the timeframe for the next film: 2012's Skyfall was the most successful Bond to date, making £720 million ($1.1 billion) worldwide, winning two Oscars and being named 'Outstanding British Film' by BAFTA.

Harry Potter VS. James Bond? Daniel Radcliffe Wants To Be Bond Villain

Daniel Radcliffe Sam Mendes Daniel Craig Harry Potter James Bond

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe claims he is aware of his slight stature and said, as reported in The Sun, that he was "never going to be cast to play a Bruce Willis character in Die Hard".

Since completing the Harry Potter films Radcliffe has gone on to appear, most notably, in The Woman in Black and Sky's A Young Doctor's Notebook. He frequently does theatre work; his latest role in Michael Grandage's The Cripple of Inishmann has received favourable reviews.

At only 5'5 the actor says he is "not nearly strapping enough to play Bond" but would be a "much better villain". Should Radcliffe be considered for a Bond villain he would be following in the footsteps of such actors as Antony Dawson (Dr.No); Peter Lorre (as Le Chiffre in the original Casino Royale) and Gert Frobe (Goldfinger).

Sam Mendes Returning To Direct New 'James Bond' Movie In 2014

Sam Mendes Daniel Craig Idris Elba Barbara Broccoli Michael Wilson Adele James Bond

Sam Mendes has made a U-turn on his decision to bow out of the James Bond franchise after helming the $1.1 billion Skyfall movie, considered one of the best 007 films in the series. Mendes had initially distanced himself from the idea of directing the follow-up to Skyfall, owing to his work on the West End launch of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and his directing of King Lear. Producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli appeared resigned to Mendes' departure and began the hunt for his successor, with Sherlock director Guy Ritchie installed as the early favorite to re-team with Daniel Craig.

Some speculation has suggested Craig would follow Mendes out of the door, with Idris Elba coming in as a replacement, though it now appears the high profile duo are back for a new movie. According to Deadline.com, Mendes and the producers got back in touch recently and agreed that the director could work through his theatre commitments before starting production on the new Bond film next year.

It will be great news for fans of Daniel Craig as Bond. Since his first outing in Casino Royale, the British star has played a more vulnerable version of the ruthless agent, even appearing physically incapable of the job in some segments of Skyfall. The change of direction for the character has led to the often tongue-in-cheek overly sexualised franchise developing into an intelligent spy story with action, humor and crisp cinematography.

Pinewood Studios Is Coming To America!

James Bond

Pinewood Studios – the famous home of Britain’s James Bond – is expanding from the leafy London suburb of Shepperton to the bright, expansive lands south of Atlanta in Fayette County, Georgia. Pinewood Atlanta will provide world-class studio facilities for the production of film, television, music and video games.

Ivan Dunleavy, Pinewood CEO, said: “Today’s agreement is another step forward for the Pinewood brand internationally. This new studio will target US productions. Georgia has excellent fiscal incentives and a great crew base. With River’s Rock we have a well resourced partner that is committed to building a first class studio facility.” Georgia is fast becoming a hot spot for film production due to tax breaks that have recently emerged. The state provides a 20% tax credit for companies that spend $500,000 or more on a production; what’s more, film producers also can receive an additional 10% if the project helps promote the state of Georgia. We’re not sure how The Walking Dead – also filmed and set in Georgia – promotes the state, but that’s just one of the successful shows flourishing in Empire State of the South.

Insurance Nightmare: Pink Vauxhall Corsa Writes Off James Bond-Style Aston Martin

Aston Martin James Bond

When you’re driving around in a bright pink, £500 Vauxhall Corsa, the last thing that you want to do is to slam your bright pink Corsa right into the side of a sleek, black, highly expensive Aston Martin. Sadly, for the owner of one bright pink Vauxhall Corsa, who was driving around in Swindon yesterday, that is exactly what happened.

The driver of the Corsa reportedly lost control of the car at a roundabout, just after driving out of the Esso garage. The car went careering onto the petrol station forecourt and ploughed straight into the side of the James-Bond style sports car, leaving the owner fearing that it may be a write-off. “She drove out of the petrol station onto the roundabout, lost it, and came over the kerb and came straight into the car,” said the owner of the Aston Martin, who wished to remain anonymous. “My car moved into the pump and bumped the pump off. It will be a write-off. They won’t fix that.”

It certainly makes for a sorry sight, the bright and cheerful pink Corsa, with its nose stuck in the side of the £180,000 luxury vehicle.

Will The Six Spies 'Bond' At The Oscars?

James Bond Sean Connery Daniel Craig Roger Moore Timothy Dalton GEORGE LAZENBY Pierce Brosnan Adele Academy Of Motion Pictures And Sciences IAN FLEMING

It's less than two weeks until the most prestigious movie awards ceremony - the Academy Awards -takes place on February 24th 2013 and rumours are flying around everywhere about alleged appearances. One of the biggest is, in the wake of the 50th anniversary of the first James Bond movie 'Dr No', all six actors who have portrayed the British spy (from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig) will show up for one huge reunion on the Oscars stage. But just how likely is it happen?

Sean Connery has, according to the Daily Record, been invited to attend the so-called reunion, as sources reveal that they've 'not had a no from him'. 'Normally he is quick to turn things down', they said. 'Sean's relationship with the Oscars is good and we're hoping he'll appear.' The paper also went on to claim that Sean's 'issues' with the producers of James Bond may deter him from attending the event, although we've always thought of him as seeming rather proud of being the original 007 star so it would seem odd for him to refuse on that account. On the other hand, according to the Edinburgh Evening News, the Scottish actor didn't even know about the rumours, with his press agent claiming that no-one has yet asked him to get involved.

One who would be likely to attend is Sir Roger Moore; a man who was loved by so many that he played the role of Bond for 12 years, completing 7 movies between 1973 and 1985. He celebrated the 50th anniversary of the franchise last year by releasing his book 'Bond on Bond: The Ultimate Book On 50 Years Of Bond Movies' so it certainly seems like it's a part of his life he holds dear. He mentioned in an interview on the 'Today' show that it was like 'working with a family every 18 months' but regrets that he finished his book before he saw the latest 007 movie 'Skyfall'. 'I would write another chapter', he said. 'I think it is just the best Bond ever made.' However, as happy as he seems to be constantly associated with the fictional secret agent, he wasn't spotted at the 2013 BAFTAS on February 10th 2013 where 'Skyfall' won 'Best British Film'.

Oscars 2013: Will Shirley Bassey Belt Out Those James Bond Classics?

Shirley Bassey Adele Barbra Streisand James Bond

One thing popped into our heads when we learnt that Shirley Bassey would be performing at The Oscars 2013: Bond tunes.

She just has to give us one of Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, or Moonraker, otherwise we'll be deeply disappointed. Let's look at the facts, and there aren't many: it's Shirley Bassey; it's The Oscars, and it's the 50th anniversary of James Bond, 007. Nailed on, it has to be! "We are thrilled to welcome the legendary Dame Shirley Bassey to our Oscar show," producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement. "Her association with film music is world-renowned and we are proud that she will be making her first Oscar appearance on our telecast." She'll be joined - not on stage we don't think - by Adele and Barbara Streisand in a show that comprises three of the best singers around today. Oh and some film stars will be there too, we reckon.

Bond will be hoping for more than just a 50th anniversary celebration, which, for most film frachises would be a honour, but, given 007's paltry return from the Academy. Adele's Skyfall has been nominated for best original song at the 2013 Academy Awards; the first awards for the Bond franchise in more than 30 years, which, given the hugely popular response to Skyfall, is a disappointment in itself.

Skyfall Included In Barry Norman's Top 49 British Movies Of All Time

James Bond Barry Norman Alfred Hitchcock

Esteemed movie critic and broadcaster Barry Norman has unveiled his Top 49 movies of all time for a Radio Times supplement. The list, which does not rank films in order, includes works from 75 years of British cinema, ranging from Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps to Sam Mendes' recent Bond movie Skyfall.

Norman harks back to yesteryear for most of his selections, with Gladiator, The King's Speech and Skyfall are the only films from the 21st century to make it onto the list. 1949 and 1995 have numerous selections, including Kind Hearts and Coronets, The Third Man and Whisky Galore! And Secrets & Lies, Sense of Sensibility and Trainspotting. Introducing his list, Norman wrote, "Ignoring for the moment the fact that you will certainly disagree with some, probably many, or maybe even all of my choices, which do you think is the one outstanding British film that I've left out? There are plenty to choose from because mine, like all such lists, is largely subjective." Notable exclusions from the list include This Is England, Wallace & Grommit, Withnail and I, and Billy Elliot.

Reaction to the list has been fairly positive, though one user joked on Twitter, "How Barry Norman can compile a '50 best British films ever' list before he's seen Danny Dyer's 'Run for your wife' is beyond me."

Judi Dench Discovers Skyfall Oscar Snub Live On Radio, It's A 'Great Pity'

Judi Dench James Bond

When the Oscar nominations were released the whole of Britain sighed, not with relief but with disappointment, due to the absence of Skyfall nominations. It's rare to hear or see an actor's impressions as soon as they find out, but speaking on BBC Radio 4, Judi Dench was unaware of the Oscar results and was told on air. Her reaction was clearly one of great disappointment, not on her own behalf, but on behalf of everyone else involved in the movie, particularly Javier Bardem and Sam Mendes.

She had only heard that Adele had a nomination from hearing a snippet on the radio before speaking to Radio 4 later, and told them that she "had a lot of things to do this morning". However, when the presenter told her that Adele's nomination had been the only one for Skyfall, she was clearly very disappointed. "That's a great, great pity," she said. "It was a terrific film, I'm very, very sorry... I thought it was very, very exciting."

She spoke great praise of her colleagues in the film, saying that it was "wonderfully directed, and filmed, and lit, and shot." Plus adding that "Javier [Bardem] hit the Bond villain right on the head... he was terrific."

From Bane To Bond: Why Tom Hardy Would Make A Brilliant 007

Tom Hardy James Bond Daniel Craig

With the iconic James Bond franchise set to receive a significant amount of attention at the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony given that 'Skyfall' marked the spy series' 50th anniversary as well as becoming the biggest blockbuster of the year in terms of both commercial and critical success, it's only natural that we've started to wonder about Bond number seven. After all, Daniel Craig has completed a total of three 007 flicks over the past six years and after getting wed in 2011, now might be the time to step down and enjoy some family time before he reaches 50. We've thought up a possible candidate and reckon we have some pretty good justification as to why Tom Hardy should become the next James Bond.

Tom Hardy - He's Bristish

He's British.

Is It Time For James Bond To Win An Oscar? Mark Kermode Thinks So

James Bond Mark Kermode Adele

Despite being called the best Bond over, breaking box-office records and continuing the tradition of subsequent 007 flicks to outdo the last, Skyfall risks falling into the pantheon of James Bond films not to grab an Oscar.

Following 2 wins from 24 nominations, the odds are stacked against Skyfall, with the Academy's penchant for ignoring serialized entries. But that's hardly fair considering both the fiscal and critical success the 23rd Bond has been.

Mark Kermode - esteemed BBC film critic - told Digital Spy: "The really interesting question is going to be Skyfall. How is Skyfall going to do at the awards because traditionally Bond movies are not awards movies? They're crowd-pleasers and they tend to be slightly neglected by the awards ceremonies. I think that what Sam Mendes has done with Skyfall is to reinvent the Bond franchise in a way that deserves to be an awards contender. I'd love to see Skyfall get significant nominations. I hope it does."

Skyfall Gives Bond 50th Birthday £100m Accolade

Daniel Craig Sam Mendes James Bond

Almost everyone loved Skyfall. Critics and audiences alike were enthralled by the plot and characters, and the collaboration between Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig has been lauded. In many ways, therefore, it's no surprise that it has become the most successful Bond film of all time. Though this may be blasphemous to say, but Craig's Bond is just as dazzling as Sean Connery's. Proving its worth with enormous fiscal success, Skyfall has taken over £100m in British cinemas- the first film ever to do so, and has taken over $1b world wide.

The highest grossing film in the UK before Skyfall was Avatar, which had taken £94m in a year. But as the Guardian reports, it took just 40 days for Bond to surpass that number. As for the billion dollar mark, which sounds all the more impressive- it is in fact far more easily attained it seems. This year saw both The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises smash through $1b of sales.

Sales numbers can be misleading, however, and levelling out numbers with inflation would certainly see many of the older Bond movies seem more successful. Numbers of tickets sold have in fact flagged largely from the hey-dey of the postwar era which saw an enormous boom in cinema, as it had become the medium by which to entertain troops and to keep up moral during the depression. No films have ever out sold Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1938), The Sound of Music (1965), or Gone With the Wind (1940), which sold 38 million, 30 million and 35 million tickets respectively. At the time, those numbers included almost two thirds of the population.

Adele Beats Fraudsters With Newly Trademarked Moniker

Adele James Bond

Adele has trademarked her name in a bid to prevent fraudsters using her moniker to sell fake merchandise for profit.

The 'Someone Like You' hitmaker discovered that many of her devoted fanbase have been the victims of being sold counterfeit items such as perfume and jewellery with the brand name of 'Adele' stamped on them suggesting that the Grammy winner had involvement in the production. 'She doesn't want anyone exploiting her name by using it on products which may trick punters into thinking she's involved with it', a source told The Sun. Her name has also protected her from identity theft, so anyone who tries to make money by using her name will have a no contest court case follow up.

After all, after the seminal career Adele has had so far, it's no wonder that people are trying to pinch her name to make a bit of cash as now she is an internationally loved artist. She has won 94 awards and she only released her second album last year (2011). Among them are four BRIT Awards, eight Grammy awards and she may even be set to win a Golden Globe for supplying the theme song to the latest James Bond movie 'Skyfall'.

Skyfall Becomes Biggest UK Box Office Film Ever

Daniel Craig James Bond

We all know Skyfall’s successful, at this point we all know just how successful it is as well, with constant reports letting know us know every time it passes a landmark box office figure, delivered with the same enthusiasm that Red Bull marketing executives must have felt every time they saw Felix Baumgartner plummeting another few thousand feet to earth without dying the other month.

Well here’s another one: The Guardian reports that the James Bond film has managed to muscle its way back to the top of the UK box office on its sixth week of release, beating out The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which had spent the previous two in first place. Coming out of the weekend, Skyfall had posted takings of £2.28 million for a 38-day total of £93.77 million. Monday (December 3) and Tuesday’s (December 4) takings have since been added to that total and the film now sits pretty with £94.28 million over 40 days.

That means it’s hit another landmark: ousting Avatar as the UK’s biggest grossing film ever after 40 days, with the James Cameron-directed film having taken £94.03 million upon its release. Skyfall has benefitted from a slight inflation on cinema ticket prices, though it is worth pointing out that it’s achieved its figure without additional 3D screenings. There’s good news for Breaking Dawn – Part 2 too; it’s become the sixth film in the UK to break the £30 million barrier in 2012. With The Hobbit still to come, it’s looking like a bumper year for the British cinema industry.

James Bond Wanted: Skyfall Style Job Appears On Official Government Website

Daniel Craig James Bond Sam Mendes

Think of yourself as the next Daniel Craig? Inspired by James Bond's crime-fighting efforts in Sam Mendes' Skyfall? Well then it's probably time to ditch the day job and apply for the role of "target elimination specialist," recently advertised on the Direct.gov.uk website.

Ok, so it appears to have been the work of pranksters, rather than, say, the Secret Intelligence Service, but it probably fooled thousands. The advert stated that the country's top spy bosses were seeking someone prepared to "remove people whose continued existence poses a risk to the effective conduct of public order." Suppose that's better than pressing buttons, huh? According to The Register, the advert - which has seen been removed - told prospective applications they needed to be "resourceful in finding ways to accomplish their missions and, in some cases, to leave foreign countries by non-conventional means." The successful applicant would be paid a salary of £50,000 to £60,000 though would have the benefits of special watches, a company submarine and a Walther PPK - Bond's famous firearm. There was no mention of a pension plan or a lunchtime break, which is slightly disappointing.

Unfortunately for any would-be James Bonds, the listing was confirmed as being purely fictitious, with a spokeswoman for SIS/MI6 saying it was a fake.

'Breaking Dawn Part 2' Tops US Box Office For A Second Week

Kristen Stewart Robert Pattinson James Bond Daniel Craig Steven Spielberg Daniel Day Lewis

The final instalment of the 'Twilight Saga', 'Breaking Dawn Part 2', starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson has topped the US box office for the second weekend in a row during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The teen vampire flick brought in a massive $64 million from November 21st to 25th adding to the $163 million already grossed by the popular movie in the States. It certainly helped the box office break their Thanksgiving takings record with an estimated $290 million beating their previous record from 2009 of $273 million over the course of the American holiday.

Coming in second place at the box office was the most successful James Bond movie so far, 'Skyfall', which brought in $51 million over the weekend totalling $221.7 million altogether for the US. The immense success of the film has made 007 star Daniel Craig the highest earning British actor after signing a £31 million contract to appear in two further Bond films.

Could Twilight And Skyfall Break Thanksgiving Weekend Records

Daniel Craig Kristen Stewart Robert Pattinson James Bond

It's no surprise films keep breaking box office records; the tickets cost more. But they've still got to attract those fans into movie theatres, and that's what Twilight and Skyfall seem to be doing, as they're predicted to break Thanksgiving weekend box office records.

The tradition is to open films on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which gives the kids - who are off school on that day - the chance to go and see their favourite characters on the big screen. It seems to have worked well for Twilight and Skyfall, as the films combined to collect $44.3 million in total U.S. and Canadian ticket sales for the day; an impressive feat for one day's work. The previous weekend, Twilight had already managed the huge sum of  $141.3 million. The 2009 holiday weekend record of $273 million saw The Twilight Saga: New Moon and the football flick, The Blind Side, bring in the cash, but if current figures are anything to go by - and they're already 20% higher than 2009's effort - this weekend will herald a record breaking total.

It looks like financial posterity in the light of a global financial crisis doesn't deter film goers, in fact, a dose of romantic escapism is probably just what a struggling public need to distract them from their financial woes. The poor get poorer, the rich get richer, and the movie-stars get even richer.

New $49 Million Deal Makes Daniel Craig The Highest Earning James Bond Ever

Daniel Craig James Bond

Well you can’t say he hasn’t earned it. Daniel Craig will become the top earning James Bond of all time after signing a new deal that will see the British actor take in a cool $49 million to appear in the next two installments of the long running special agent franchise.

Bond certainly wasn’t on its last legs by the middle of the last decade, Pierce Brosnan had done a sterling job of steadying the ship after a series of Bonds struggled to replace the incomparable Sean Connery in the 80's; yet there was the sense that its time might be coming to an end, with outdated attitudes and a Bond that remained stiff and relatively one dimensional as a character. Craig’s debut in 2006 for Casino Royale breathed new life into the films however, as he picked up plaudits for both that and 2008’s Quanton of Solace, giving Bond a more emotional, weaker side.

As well as plaudits Craig’s also picked up a lot of money; he made $3 million for Casino Royale, a figure which rose to more than $7 million for QoS and then a whopping $17 million for latest film Skyfall. The huge critical and commercial success of Skyfall – the best-selling Bond ever, and the first seriously be considered in the running for an Oscar – has led to a new bumper deal, which puts him right at the top of Hollywood’s highest earners. To put these figures into perspective, Sean Connery was paid an average of $5.1 million per film, taking inflation into account, whilst Brosnan’s last 007 appearance The World Is Not Enough saw him take a similar amount.

We Can't Have A Bald James Bond! Daniel Craig Told That Losing His Hair Could See Him Losing His Job

Daniel Craig James Bond Sam Mendes Sean Connery

James Bond star Daniel Craig has been warned that his hair loss is starting to become a major concern for network executives, who have warned the actor that he needs to curb his hair loss in order to keep his job as Her Majesty's finest agent.

Reports have emerged online that the actor is been told to get a hair transplant in order to maintain Bond's sex appeal and believability as his hair continues to recede back. It appears that Skyfall's massive success and appraisals may mean nothing to the films producers, as they are more concerned in having a Bond with a full head of hair as apposed to a Bond that is already been touted as the best there's been.

In other Bond news, it has emerged that Skyfall director Sam Mendes wanted the original 007, Sean Connery, to make a cameo appearance in the hit film, that is still performing strongly at the box office. Although he regularly likes to reiterate the fact that he is retired and has no plans to return in front of the camera anytime soon, Mendes was apparently desperate to sign up to veteran actor (who has long rocked the hairless look) when the film was in production, but the Scot would not budge.

The Pope Loved James Bond Skyfall, Apparently

Daniel Craig Sam Mendes James Bond

The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano appears to have given the latest James Bond movie Skyfall its seal of approval. Despite 007's womanising and murderous lifestyle, the newspaper dedicated no less than five articles to Sam Mendes' box office smash.

According to The Independent, the newspaper even featured an interview with Daniel Craig in which it said the film contained everything you could possibly want from a Bond film, including, "adrenalin-pumped action to exotic locations, beautiful Bond girls, and the inevitable vodka Martini - shaken, not stirred." Another article compared the merits of previous James Bond actors, while another discussed the various soundtracks. L'Osservatore Romano was founded in 1861 as the mouthpiece of the Vatican. Up until five years ago, it would typically publish theological pieces and information about the Pope's various engagements. However, in recent years the broadsheet has established a more populist slant, covering films and television.

Skyfall has received unanimously positive reviews from critics, with most declaring Daniel Craig amongst the best ever Bonds. He will star in two further movies before handing the reins over to another actor.

Box Office Round Up: Argo Takes The Top Spot After Sluggish Weekend

Ben Affleck Gerard Butler James Bond

There was another new face atop the Box Office charts at the end of this weekend (26-28 October), with Ben Affleck’s newest project, Argo, taking the top spot on it’s third week in the chart.

Argo made the leap from second to first;after an impressive weekend saw it take $12,355,000, estimates report, taking its overall domestic earnings to just over $60 million. Meanwhile, last weeks number one, Paranormal Activity 4, slid right down to number four as audiences decided they would prefer political thrills to supernatural frights over Halloween weekend. Hotel Transylvania and Taken 2 were the other non-debutants in the top five, with newbie Cloud Atlas taking third spot in the Box Office with a rather meagre $9,400,000.

Three other debutants marked a strangely slow start to their Box Office careers, with Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, Fun Size and Chasing Mavericks all collectively taking only slightly more than Argo pulled in by itself. Silent Hill, which tied with Taken 2 for the fifth spot on the movie chart, pulled a reasonable $8 million, whilst the high school comedy Fun Size took a little over £4 million and Gerard Butler’s surfing movie Chasing Mavericks took a scanty $2.2 million.

What If Cary Grant Had Played James Bond?

Daniel Craig James Bond Cary Grant Will Smith Christian Bale Michael Fassbender

James Bond fans across the globe are celebrating 007's 50th anniversary today (October 5, 2012), though it's worth remembering that the quintessentially British franchise could have been a very American affair, had Bond producer Albert Broccoli had his way.

As The Guardian's Amanda Holpuch writes, Hollywood icon Cary Grant - best known for 'North by Northwest' - was urged by the producer (also his close friend and best man) to take the role. Despite his English heritage, it's unlikely that British audiences would have taken to Grant as Bond and the role eventually went to the Scotsman Sean Connery, who played the role with aplomb. Bond producers have since chosen Australian, English, Welsh and Irish actors to fill the role, though we shouldn't rule out an American slipping into the tuxedo in the near future. Will Smith had reportedly been close to the role before Daniel Craig took it on, and the heavy American-accented Christian Bale was also tipped to play 007. Australian star Sam Worthington is currently the bookies favourite to land the part after Craig hangs up his shiny black shoes, though it's likely that Michael Fassbender will be a key target for Bond producers. The 'Shame' star was born in German, grew up in the Republic of Ireland and now lives in London.

Anyway, before we start speculating on Craig's replacement, the actor stars in Sam Mendes' 'Skyfall' which hits cinemas on November 9, 2012.

Adele’s James Bond Theme Leaked Online

Adele James Bond

Adele's Skyfall James Bond theme has been 'leaked' online, reports The Telegraph. The tune is now all over video sharing site YouTube.

The news that Adele was to due to release the official James Bond tune for Skyfall has quickly been met with the news that the single’s been leaked online, as is so often the case with high profile musical releases. The song, due to be released this Friday (October 5th) to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the famous 007 agent, had appeared online soon after reporters got their mitts on it. The news will come as a sad blow for Adele, as she was excited about the prospect of being a Bond girl, of sorts. "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song," she said. "I’ll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure!” added the Grammy and Brit award-winning singer.

Adele will still be able to see her song on one of the most famous film franchises in the world, and certainly a quintessentially British institution. She was hesitant at first, but now she’s fully on board: "It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done, which made it exciting. Adele James Bond

Adele will sing the new James Bond theme tune, for Skyfall. The rumours have been rife for weeks but now it has been confirmed: Adele will not only perform the track but she also co-wrote the song. In an announcement on the official James Bond website, Adele says “I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end.”

Adele is pregnant and the 24 year-old has suggested that she will be taking a break from her recording career. However, the lure of the opportunity to record a Bond theme was clearly too strong for her to turn down. The track is co-written with Paul Epworth and will receive its official global premiere on her own website on October 5, 2012: Global James Bond Day.

The track was recorded at London’s infamous Abbey Road studios and features the accompaniment of a 77-piece orchestra. “It was … a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I’ve never done which made it exciting,” Adele says. “When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I’m sure!”

Bond Star Daniel Craig Smitten With Skyfall Bond Girls

Daniel Craig James Bond Naomie Harris Berenice Marlohe

He may play the lead role in Skyfall, but Daniel Craig knows that Bond girls are as much a part of the James Bond franchise as guns and gadgets are, and the upcoming Skyfall, like those that preceded it, has no shortage of the famed femme fatales.

Daniel Craig has recently spoken with Metro about how much of a pleasure it was working with the two, played by English actress Naomie Harris and French actress Bérénice Marlohe. Craig, for who Skyfall marks his third role as 007, spoke highly of the pair’s credentials and looks, saying, “the casting of the Bond girls with Naomie and Bérénice... Finding two exceptionally beautiful girls who are very serious actresses. Both of them wanted to be in a Bond movie.”

Both actresses also let themselves be heard in the video interview, with the two independently coming to the conclusion that to be a Bond girl, you’ve got to have more than a pretty face. London-born Harris, who admitted to being a long-time fan of the spy franchise, revealed that in the film her character sees herself as Bond’s equal, before saying, “I that don't think it's enough to look pretty anymore. It may well have been true in the past but not anymore.”
Likewise, Marlohe revealed her pleasure at being cast in the much sought after role, admitting that nowadays it isn’t enough to get by on looks if you want to break into a film of such stature, however true it may have been in the past.

According to Moore, he ended his marriage with actress Luisa Mattioli over the telephone, despite it being a cowardly way to explain his change of heart to her in 1993. When he first met her, Moore was married to his second wife Dorothy Squires whom he left in 1961 - eight years before their divorce. "It was very selfish (to fall in love with Luisa)," Moore decided. Radcliffe: I'll Be First Gay Bond!

Harry Potter Daniel Craig Daniel Radcliffe Equus James Bond Jk Rowling Prince Ron Weasley Rupert Grint

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe quipped that he could put a revolutionary new twist on the character of James Bond.

The 18-year-old actor was celebrating with fellow cast members after Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was voted best film and Radcliffe named best male at the first ever National Movie Awards.

After beating sex symbol Daniel Craig to the best male award, Radcliffe was asked whether he'd like to one day take over as 007.

"It would be weird to suddenly be involved in another big franchise, but hey, it takes a big man to turn down Bond."

When quizzed as to who his ideal leading lady would be, he quipped that his top choice would be co-star Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies.

"I'm going to say Rupert," Radcliffe joked. "I'll be the first gay James Bond!"

But the young star – who is expected to reprise his critically-acclaimed performance in Equus on the Broadway stage – accepted that he might not have the goods to play the spy with a licence to kill.

"I don't think the world's ready for a short-a**e Bond," he moaned.

Questioned if he'd fancy playing the role in a decade, Radcliffe, only 5ft 5ins, admitted: "I'll still be a short a**e!"

Radcliffe is currently starring in Australian coming-of-age drama December Boys and is set to soon begin filming on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth feature in the Jk Rowling franchise.
