James Blunt has opened up about the death of his ‘American mother’ Carrie Fisher.

The two, somewhat unlikely, friends met before Blunt began work on his debut album Back to Bedlam, and the actress suggested he come live with her in LA during the recording.

The singer said Fisher was an inspiration to him at the time, and when he welcomed his first child, a son, last year, he made the actress godmother.

Ed Sheeran and James Blunt will cause a ''proper madness'' on tour.

The 25-year-old musician has made it known he has a great friendship with the 42-year-old singer and the pair are set to take to the road on the flame haired vocalist's highly anticipated tour, but it is believed the pair will cause chaos travelling together.

Speaking about the partnership to The Sun newspaper, a source said: ''Ed and James have a real laugh together, it'll be proper madness on tour. James has a good following in the US so he'll also play some gigs too, acting as a support for his mate. When you spend so much time on the road it's always handy to be in good company, and James certainly fits into that category.''

Ed Sheeran has seemingly confirmed the rumours that Princess Beatrice accidentally slashed his face with a sword while pretending to ‘knight’ James Blunt.

The story was first reported in November and so far Ed has stayed mum on the rumours. But while appearing on The Graham Norton Show, the singer spoke as much as he could about his royal accident.

Blunt, who's still best remembered for his 2005 hit ‘You're Beautiful’, is known for his funny Twitter comebacks, often replying to negative comments about his music career.

Uh oh. James Blunt has gone and given the general public another reason to call him the most ridiculous man on earth. People don’t really like spam emails, but when one comes from the posh ex-army singer, Mr. Blunt, people really don’t like spam emails.

Circulated to a large and bemused set of Twitter followers in the U.K, the social networking site became awash with tweets about the email shortly after it was sent. Most users bemoaned the way in which Blunt and his PR team got their email address, while others found it an ideal place to crack a joke or two.

“So… just for you… Here’s the first single from my new album…! It’s called Bonfire Heart,” read the reasonably creepy mail out, “and the first time it will be broadcast on the airwaves will be on BBC Radio 2 at around 11am (GMT) this morning and later today in mainland Europe… So it’s all yours till then! The song is about love, life, fear and hope… and more than anything, you… and me…” (Metro)

Rumours that James Blunt was quitting the music scene - partly catalysed by the fact he said he was quitting the music scene - have been quelled via a facebook post.

According to Gigwise, blunt 'joked' to a reporter, saying "I just want to take some time out for myself. I haven't got any plans to do more songwriting." We at Contact Music are starting to realise where the confusion stemmed from. "I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I've spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa," he continued. Blunt then took to Facebook to set the record straight, but strangely, his modicum of the truth was far more cryptic than the supposed joke he was trying to amend. "The Mail on Sunday has reported that James Blunt has split up due to musical differences. Neither could be reached for comment due to recording commitments," he posted, before setting his location as 'Conway Recording Studios'. Help us out Blunt. 

The former military man shot to fame in 2005 with his hit single 'You're Beautiful' but hasn't had a Top Forty single since his 2008 release, 'Stay The Night'. His most recent album, Some Kind Of Trouble hit No.4 in 2010, reaching Gold status in the UK. He's also been the butt of many jokes from myriad comedians and prominent musical figures.

James Blunt is quitting the music industry.

It’s ok (*puts fingers to lips*)… we know what you’re thinking. We’re thinking it too… We didn’t really know he was still in the music industry. As far as we knew, he made a bundle of cash off that one song that he released, that quickly became one of the most irritating songs of all time and then he decided to make a life for himself hanging out in Ibiza. He’s got a villa out there, you know. See – we knew that much about him. We just didn’t know he still considered himself to be a musician. The mind boggles…

We were going to pay tribute to James Blunt, to mark his apparent passing from the world of music, with some kind of ‘Top 5’ list of his songs. But then we could only remember that one song, ‘You’re Beautiful.’ So instead, we had a little look at the source of this news, which has come as a shock to us, for all the wrong reasons. According to the Daily Mail, the 38 year-old former soldier made the ‘revelation’ at the relaunch of the Barbarella nightclub, in Fulham, where he told the press “I just want to take some time out for myself.” He’s got a villa in Ibiza, you know, so he’ll probably just hang out there, a bit more than he already does. He confirmed that he doesn’t have “any plans to do more songwriting,” and stressed how much he’s enjoyed hanging out, in Ibiza – where he has a villa… and a yacht – with his girlfriend Sofia.
