Josh Gad Says 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure' Is All About "Family"

Josh Gad

Though we've still got over two years to wait until the highly-anticipated 'Frozen' sequel, this month we'll see some of the film's fan-favourite characters make their return in the 21-minute animated short 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure'. Featuring the titular snowman (voiced by Josh Gad) alongside Sven the reindeer, viewers will see the pair looking for Christmas traditions throughout their home of Arendelle.

Gad is of course going from more of a supportive role to a leading one in the movie, and it's a shift he seems to be very comfortable with. Working with the likes of Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson, who have written four new original tracks for the flick, as well as his former 'Frozen' co-stars, he's a part of a project that looks set to be a major success.

Murder On The Orient Express Review

Very Good

The latest adaptation of Agatha Christie's 83-year-old classic whodunit, this lavish, star-studded film is old-style entertainment. Director-star Kenneth Branagh lets the story unfold with attention to detail while filling the screen with eye-catching images, from the spectacular mountain settings to the opulent costumes. And while the story is too familiar to stir up too much suspense, it's played with a strong sense of emotional resonance. And the moral question is provocative.

The Orient Express sets off from 1934 Istanbul with a colourful collection of passengers. A last-minute addition is noted detective Hercule Poirot (Branagh), who has just solved a thorny mystery in Jerusalem and is now heading to London. Even though he shouldn't be working, he begins to weigh up the odd collection of passengers around him, including a gangster (Johnny Depp), countess (Judi Dench), widow (Michelle Pfeiffer), governess (Daisy Ridley), maid (Olivia Colman), salesman (Wille Dafoe), assistant (Josh Gad), butler (Derek Jacobi) and doctor (Leslie Odom Jr.). Then in the middle of the night, one of them is violently murdered. And when the train becomes lodged in a snowdrift, Poirot has the time to dig further into each person's clearly suspicious back-story.

The immense popularity of 'Frozen' was certainly something to behold when the now Disney classic was released back in 2013. Taking all of the most successful elements of the animated classics that had come before it and adding a dash of modern integrity and innovation, the movie made Disney musicals 'cool' again.

Marshall Trailer

Thurgood Marshall (Chadwick Boseman) is well known for becoming the first African American Supreme Court Justice in 1967, following his instrumental involvement in the Brown v. Board of Education case, desegragating schools in America once and for all in 1954. Before then though, he was an attorney - an unusual profession for a black man at the time, especially one whose great grandfather was a slave.

In one of his first cases, he was asked to defend a fellow black man named Joseph Spell, who had been arrested for the alleged assault against a white female socialite named Janet Moore. It was Thurgood's job to prove the man's innocence, and that he was being wrongly targeted for his race. A fair trial was rare for an African American in the 1930s, so the pressure was truly on; it becomes especially difficult when Spell is forced to lie to protect his own life.

Of course, it's not all plain sailing for Thurgood. He may be educated, but the streets are still a dangerous place for him - as his new partner, a white man named Sam Friedman (Josh Gad), learns first hand as he is beaten for associating with him.

Luke Evans And Josh Gad Smash 'Beauty And The Beast' Themed Prank Call

Luke Evans Josh Gad

'Beauty and the Beast' stars Luke Evans and Josh Gad got a break from the regular round of generic promotional interviews when they appeared on The Matt Edmondson Show on BBC Radio 1 last week. They were asked to take part in the AlphabetiCall telephone prank - and needless to say, they both won.

Anyone can conduct a prank call, but it takes a special kind of person to do so by starting every sentence with the next consecutive letter of the alphabet, all the way to 'Z'. Luke Evans and Josh Gad, how play Gaston and Le Fou respectively in the forthcoming live action version of 'Beauty and the Beast', managed it however with a themed pair of calls appropriate to their latest film.

Disney Josh Gad Bill Condon

In a move that will no doubt thrill LGBT people around the world, 'Beauty and the Beast' is to become the first film in Disney history to feature an 'exclusively gay moment'. With Emma Watson also bringing an emphasis on feminism to the role, it could be the company's most diverse role yet.

In the past, Disney was considered a prejudiced enterprise on many counts, but now they are embracing diversity by bringing same-sex romance into their upcoming live action adaptation of 1991 animation 'Beauty and the Beast'. It centres around LeFou, played by Josh Gad, and his feelings for his slick master Gaston who is portrayed by Luke Evans.

The Angry Birds Movie Review

Very Good

There's nothing particularly memorable about this frantic animated romp, which adapts the iconic phone-app game into a movie using a rather corny plot. But the film is so random that it can't help but get the audience laughing. Youngsters will be delighted by the brightly coloured wackiness, while adults will chuckle at the steady stream of grown-up visual and verbal gags, many of which are frankly surprising to find in a children's movie.

It's set on the isolated Bird Island, where the residents have never learned how to fly and believe they are the only life in the sea. In their tight-knit community, Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) is an outcast because of his too-independent thinking. He's ordered to take anger management classes with groovy guru Matilda (Maya Rudolph), where his fellow students are the hyperactive Chuck (Josh Gad), the hulking Terence (Sean Penn) and the explosive Bomb (Danny McBride). Then a pig named Leonard (Bill Hader) arrives on the island, introducing new technology like sling shots and trampolines and planning a big party. But of course he has a much more nefarious intention that only Red can see. In need of help, Red takes Chuck and Bomb in search of the mythical Mighty Eagle (Peter Dinklage), the only bird on the island who can fly.

There's a slightly nagging sense that Donald Trump wrote this script (it's about a guy who's ignored as he obnoxiously shouts about the dangers of letting strangers into the community, then is proved right). But the film is so utterly ridiculous that it's impossible to take this rather dodgy theme seriously. What's even more odd is how much of the humour is aimed at grown-ups, including innuendo, puns, gross-out gags and unexpected violence, most of which will go over young viewers' heads. But it's so unfocussed that the only response is to laugh in disbelief that someone thought a joke so near-the-knuckle was appropriate for a kids' movie.

Thus, he is forced to undergo anger management therapy to control his emotions before his hostility really gets out of hand. On attending his first group session, he meets the fast-talking faster-moving Chuck and the shy but quick to explode Bomb and together they attempt to conquer their stress.
