The Show Must Go On! &#039;Fashion Police&#039; To Continue Without Joan Rivers

E!'s hit show Fashion Police will continue despite the passing of Joan Rivers. Rivers' daughter, Melissa Rivers, produces on Fashion Police and announced on Friday (19th September) that the show will go on.

Melissa, speaking during the Fashion Police: Remembering Joan special, promised viewers the show will continue despite her mother's absence. She said: "Yes, Fashion Police will continue. We're going to hit pause for a little while, but Fashion Police will be back in January."

E! also confirmed the news in a separate statement, as People reports. The network said they had "thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted". They further explained how the decision was made with Melissa's "blessing" and that the network believed "Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue."

The talk show, which first aired in 2010, featured a number of celebrities commenting on celebrity fashion trends and decisions. Rivers starred on the show, alongside Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic, and George Kotsiopoulos. During the special, each celebrity took a moment to remember the impact Rivers made on their lives, as People reports.

Melissa Rivers has given her "blessing" to the continuation of Fashion Police.

29-year-old Osbourne claimed Rivers was instrumental in ensuring women could speak their minds. She said "If it wasn't for [Joan], I wouldn't be able to be me. My mother wouldn't be able to be her. Any outspoken, independent woman wouldn't be who they are if it wasn't for women like Joan paving the way."

Rivers died on September 4th after suffering from complications from throat surgery. Rivers died in hospital in New York and Melissa released a statement shortly afterwards thanking the hospital staff for their care, and fans for their support and well wishes. Part of the statement read: "Cooper [Melissa's son] and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated. My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."

Melissa, speaking in the E! Fashion Police special, also addressed viewers and fans of her mother on a personal level and reiterated points from her initial statement. She said "I really want to thank all of the Joan Rangers for the outpouring of love and support, it has meant so much to Cooper and me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."

Fashion Police will be back on air next Janary.
