We’ve all known for a while that Kim Kardashian’s dream has been to grace the cover of US Vogue and finally it’s happened for her. Whilst Kim and her fiancee Kanye West might be overjoyed to see themselves starring out of Vogue’s April cover, not everybody feels the same way. Indeed now that Kim has reached her destination on her rocky road to Vogue she’s still facing more than a few obstacles from those who still think she just doesn't belong.

It’s really been no secret that Kim Kardashian has been trying to break into the high end fashion world for a while now and of course landing a Vogue is one way to certainly cement your place. Ever since she began her relationship with rapper and number one fan, Kanye West, he seems to have been doing all he can to turn Kim from reality tv star into high fashion trendsetter.

Kanye’s always had high fashion connections, he’s frequently seen front row at fashion week shows and he’s also friends with Vogue editor Anna Wintour. But being Kanye’s fiancee didn't grant Kim an automatic buy in to the Vogue editor’s favours. In fact her romance with Kanye didn't seem to help Kim at all when invites were being handed out to the 2012 Met Gala. Kanye’s name was on the list but there was reportedly no plus one for girlfriend Kim. While Kim’s team said she was unable to attend the event anyway, the widely reported reason for her no show was that Wintour had banned her from attending the high profile event - apparently she just didn't think Kim was a big enough star.

A year later and Kim did score an invite when Kanye performed at the Gala, but still Kim being in Vogue was a long way off. When Kanye was selected as part of the magazine’s best dressed on the night gallery, Kim found herself literally out of the picture. Yes, the picture they chose to use of Kanye had Kim noticeably removed from it, making her one step further away from her Vogue debut. Perhaps the reason was that two months earlier it was reported that Anna thought Kim was ‘the worst thing since socks and sandals.’ Ouch.

Kanye, however, was undeterred in trying to get Kim into Vogue, he told Ryan Seacrest late last year that his fiancee definitely deserved a place on the glossy mag’s cover saying ‘there's no way Kim Kardashian shouldn't be on the cover of Vogue,' adding, 'she's like the most intriguing woman right now. She's got Barbara Walters calling her like every day.’
