‘Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch: Make My Video’ (Mark Wahlberg)

Back in 1992, Mark Wahlberg was better known as Marky Mark, a rapper and underwear model who also had his own video game. ‘Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch: Make My Video’ was released by Digital Pictures in 1992 for the Sega Mega-CD (remember that) and PCs. In the game, players were given the task of creating and editing three music videos for Wahlberg, with his songs 'Good Vibrations', 'I Need Money', and 'You Gotta Believe'. As fantastic a concept as this might sound, the game was an incredible failure, earning a 0 out of 10 review from Game Informer magazine and later being rated by PC World as the 8th worst game of all time.

'50 Cent: Bulletproof’ (50 Cent)

In 2000 rapper 50 Cent was shot nine times by a gunman as he sat in a car outside his grandmother’s house,  remarkably, he survived the shooting and went on to have a successful music career. But he also went on to star in his own video game, ’50 Cent: Bulletproof’, released in 2005, where you could play as the rapper and search for vengeance against the hitmen who attempted to murder him. Yes in the game 50 Cent is shot nine times and seeks revenge, but to make it more fun there’s cameos from Dr. Dre as an arms dealer and Eminem playing a corrupt police officer. The game was released on the Playstation and Xbox consoles and received mixed reviews but despite this a sequel was made in 2009 entitled '50 Cent: Blood on the Sand'.

‘Moonwalker’ (Michael Jackson)

Moonwalker, the 1988 film starring Michael Jackson, spawned several video games, but perhaps the most interesting is the arcade version produced by Sega in 1990. In the game, Jackson uses his magical powers and dancing skills to fight off enemies, while wearing his ‘Smooth Criminal’ white suit. Then there’s the odd power-up feature which comes courtesy of Bubbles, Michael’s former pet chimp. Once you rescued Bubbles, Michael would then transform into a robot who can shoot laser and absorb a lot more damage.

‘Britney’s Dance Beat’ (Britney Spears)

Did you ever dream of being a back up dancer for Britney Spears? Well there was a game for that. ‘Britney’s Dance Beat’, released in 2002, let you audition to be a backing dancer for Spears while unlocking special video footage of the singer. Five of Spear’s most famous songs including ‘Baby One More Time’ were featuring on the game, which was available for the Game Boy Advance, Playstation 2 and PC. Reviews were mixed, but many found it to be a simple, fun game that was of course, totally cheesy.
