Ever since the Sony hack, Elba has become the forerunner to replace Daniel Craig.
Could Idris Elba be the next James Bond? Well if the Sony email hack told us anything its that Amy Pascal thinks "Idris should be the next Bond’. But what has the man himself got to say about the possibility of dawning a tux as 007?
Could Idris Elba go from Luther to Bond?
Well Elba had been pretty quiet since the hack, but he’s now decided to answer all those will you/wont you Bond questions with one simple tweet.
“Isn't 007 supposed to handsome? Glad you think I've got a shot! Happy New year people,” the ‘Luther’ actor wrote on Twitter.

But even before the Sony hack, Elba’s name had been attached to 007, which caused the actor to be asked if he would take the role during a Reddit AMA last year. "Yes, if it was offered to me, absolutely,” the 42 year old said.
However the actor has also previously voiced concerns about what would happen if he took the role. "I just don't want to be called the first black James Bond. Do you understand what I'm saying? Sean Connery wasn't the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond. So if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond,” he said during an interview with NPR.

Meanwhile controversial commentator Rush Limbaugh has weighed in on Elba’s Bond candidacy (even though no one asked him to), saying, "James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is."
"But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland. But that's not who James Bond is. I know it's racist to probably point this out," the talk show host added.
Elba has now become the bookies favourite to be the next Bond, with Tom Hardy coming in second at 4/1 odds.
