Idina Menzal is set to hit Broadway again in a brand new musical, If/Then. This will her first time on the stage and circuit since her Tony Award-winning turn as Elphaba in Wicked.

Speaking about her new project, Menzel said in a statement: "I've experienced the beauty of working on original musicals and was eager to find a project where the material was exciting and new and spoke to my heart. I'm thrilled to have finally found it - an original musical with a complex, flawed, and surprising central character that I cannot wait to bring to life onstage." If/Then tells the story of a woman approaching 40, who decides to move to The Big Apple in search of a new life; a new job, friends and opportunities. The show will have a pre-Broadway tryout in Washington, D.C. this November before heading to New York in Spring 2014. “The show is really about how we choose our lives and how our lives choose us, themes that I find very rich and very moving,” the show’s producer, David Stone said in a telephone interview to The New York Times.

Menzel came to the fore with her performance as Maureen Johnson in the Broadway musical Rent - a role which she reprised for the 2005 feature film adaptation. Away from the stage, she has become known for her recurring role in TV-musical-sitcom-drama Glee, playing Shelby Corcoran, the coach of the rival glee club, Vocal Adrenaline.
