Cheryl BurkeCheryl Burke did not enjoy being partnered with Ian Ziering on 'DWTS'.

Sharks And Absurdity Descend On NYC In "Sharknado 2: The Second One"

Tara Reid Ian Ziering

As unfortunate as the idea of Sharknado 2 sounds, it’s happening. Let that sink in for a second: someone wrote, filmed and edited a sequel to 2013’s lamest B-movie. Sharknado: The Second One was reportedly filmed in just 18 days for less than $2 million and premiers Wednesday. The “natural” disaster hits New York this time. The good news: someone at Asylum and/or SyFy obviously realized the only selling point of the original was its ridiculousness, so this time they’ve amped it up.

Sharknado 2: The Second One (the name really tells you everything you need to know) features chainsaws, Ian Ziering delivering inspiring speeches and sharks, sharks everywhere. The CGI team have really taken their job above and beyond, in quantity, if not quality. As Tara Reid put it in a recent interview with USA Today: "The sharks could go anywhere from inside hospitals to the Mets stadium to subways, to the street, to you name it, a shark could be there. The Empire State Building."

Tara Reid Ian Ziering John Heard

It's Shark Week ladies and gents and what better way to celebrate than unveil the announcement of the movie title we've all been waiting for. Sharknado, the film that visualised the inconceivable horror of sharks, AKA the shredders of the sea, taking to air and land as a hurricane rages through a waterlogged Los Angeles, will be reincarnated in a sequel.

Tara Reid Ian Ziering
Tara Reid & Ian Ziering Lived The Horror Of Sharks On Land.

Starring shark defenders Tara Reid and Ian Ziering, Sharknado saw sharks blasted in their droves out of drains, they flew in their gnashing swarms through the stormy air and swam craftily through the underwater streets of LA with one thing on their mind. Blood...and reviews so bad the acid burned through the words. The internet's reaction ranged from "woah, sharks!" to nervous disparagement that was thinly veiled behind the "LOLZ." However, one chilling question gripped everyone's minds. Could there possibly be...more sharks?

SyFy Pushes Forward "Sharknado" International Release To Take Advantage Of Online Buzz

Ian Ziering Tara Reid

Sharknado – much like it’s main subjects, it’s the film that won’t go away and just keeps coming stronger every time and flooding international markets with... sharks, raining from the sky. Ok, the metaphor got away from us there, but the main point stands. Not only is Sharknado getting an international release, but NBCUniversal are pushing it forward a bit to take advantage of the social media buzz surrounding the film. It makes perfect sense, considering that once said buzz dies down, so will the chances of anyone actually paying to see this.

Sharknado, Fast & Furious 6 Premiere
Meanwhile, Sharknado 2 is already a go, with Tara Reid commenting that she would like to act in the second one.

Sharknado, which already has a sequel in the works, is seeing its Australian TV debut to Friday night local time, with the U.K. set to follow on Aug. 7 instead of the originally planned September airing, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The SyFy channel doesn’t have a corresponding network in Australia, but Universal airs all SyFy originals on the Universal General channel.

Sharknado Sequel: Producers Begin Quest To Lure Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp Damon Lindelof Tara Reid Ian Ziering

A sequel to the cable disaster movie Sharknado - about a tornado which triggers man-eating fish to take down the residents of Los Angeles - has been confirmed by Asylum Films. Premiering on the Syfy network on July 10, the movie reeled in just 1.3 million viewers though Sharknado was mentioned 5,000 times on Twitter during the broadcast alone.

The production company have cottoned onto the fact that people on Twitter like to watch people chainsawing out of Shark's mouths - they like to talk about how bad it is, but they're talking about it nonetheless.

"Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm - on television. The fans are clamouring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel. What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We'll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn't want our fans to worry they wouldn't get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year," said Syfy's Thomas Vitale.

SyFy Approves "Sharknado" Sequel. What's Next?

Tara Reid Ian Ziering Damon Lindelof

The forecast for 2014 is looking rather toothy, after the news broke out that the SyFy channel has greenlit another Sharknado. Yes, apparently the first one was such a monster (ha!) hit, that the good people of SyFy see enough potential for a sequel. We see how that could be, after all, the story of a tornado, raining sharks down on earth is a complex, nuanced one that clearly needs more than one movie to be told, preferably a trilogy.

Apparently, in the company’s eyes, Sharknado is literally so bad it’s good. While the questionable project doesn’t even have a script yet, the good people over at SyFy were apparently so impressed with the social media tornado that the first one stirred up, that they immediately started gearing up for a second one.

Domino Review

Bad
The opening text of Domino informs the viewer that the film is based on a true story "sort of." It should also inform the viewer that it makes sense, entertains, and maintains focus on its main character "sort of." What it does far more consistently is annoy, disappoint, and remind the viewer of far better films they could be spending their time watching.

The story, very loosely based on the exploits of female bounty hunter Domino Harvey (Keira Knightley), follows our heroine as she grows dissatisfied with her socialite upbringing and embraces the darker side of law enforcement. Her mentor on this journey is legendary bounty hunter Ed Mosbey (Mickey Rourke), assisted by pseudo-comic relief Choco (Edgar Ramirez). That she meets these gentlemen as they try to scam hundreds of dollars off of would-be bounty hunters (including herself) doesn't dissuade her from trusting them with her new life.
