Radio presenter Howard Stern criticised Crowe after pictures emerged of the actor kicking a ball in Sydney
Hollywood superstar Russell Crowe has hit back at radio presenter Howard Stern after the latter gentleman reportedly criticised the Gladiator actor over his weight. It seems Crowe was alerted to comments made over his physique by a fan and decided he wanted to respond.

Tarantino claims that Disney has reneged on a verbal deal to let a Hollywood theatre screen his movie 'The Hateful Eight' instead of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' when it comes out on Christmas Day.
Quentin Tarantino has blasted Disney studios for what he has labelled “extortionist practices” in their refusal to allow one of the cinemas they’ve booked for Star Wars screenings in Los Angeles to be relinquished for a day to show his new movie The Hateful Eight.
Appearing on the Howard Stern show on SiriusXFM, Tarantino says that he and his distributors The Weinstein Company had previously come to a verbal agreement with Disney to allow the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood to be free to show a 70mm version of The Hateful Eight, which opens on December 25th in the States, for a two week run.

As candid as Joel was, there are some things better left unsaid, and undone, for that matter
When Billy Joel started talking about his rocky history with alcohol and his dabble with heroin, most thought that the interview had reached the rocky depths of the legendary musician’s inner soul. But it was his loose plans for a super group, including himself, Sting, Don Henly and “another guitarist”, that proved to be his scariest admission.
Billy Joel performs for the first time as artist in residence at Madison Square Garden
Opening up Monday in a two-hour interview in front of 100 fans in a New York City town hall setting, Joel took Stern and the lucky guests – lucky because they were obviously fans – on a journey through his song writing secrets, and the drug that would lead to the song “Scandinavian Skies” from 1982’s ‘The Nylon Curtain’. “It got me so high, I didn’t know how to deal with it,” he said of trying heroin. “It scared me.” (THR)
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's was the split nobody saw coming this week, as Kate Bush's tour sells out and Joan Rivers stuck the knife into Lena Dunham.
Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin Split: Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin announced this week that they were splitting up. Well, instead they described their split as a "conscious uncoupling," a phrase that drew scorn and mockery from the internet. The pair had reportedly been testing their separation for a year and finally decided to go public. In an entry on the Iron Man star's website, the couple explained that being parents to their two children was the priority for them right now.
L'Wren Scott's Will: The last will and testament of the late fashion designer L'Wren Scott has been made public. The former model was found hanged in her Manhattan apartment on Monday 17th March whilst her boyfriend, Mick Jagger, was on tour with the Rolling Stones. Jagger is the only named beneficiary in L'Wren's will, with her adoptive siblings explicitly denied any of her $9 million estate. Scott's sister, Jan Shane, has lashed out at the Jagger's for turning the designer's death into a "media circus" - read about what else she had to say.
Joan Rivers insults Lena Dunham at a personal level.
Joan Rivers has slammed Lena Dunham for being overweight in a new interview on The Howard Stern Show. The 80 year-old television personality heavily criticised the Girls writer and actress' stance on body image, namely that she doesn't feel the need to conform to the more Hollywood ideals of female body shape. Comedian Rivers is known for her tendency for incendiary comments but in her radio interview with Stern she drove home her distaste for Dunham's image despite the host's attempt to defend the 27 year-old star.
Joan Rivers Branded Lena Dunham "Fat" & Accused Her Of Promoting Obesity.
"Let me ask you something. Lena Dunham, who again I think is terrific, how could she wear dresses above the knee?" Rivers asked on Tuesday. "I think the thing we love about her is that she doesn't give a s**t," Stern replied, referring to Dunham's body positive philosophy. "Oh, every woman gives a s**t," Rivers retorted, adding "That's wrong. You are sending a message out saying 'It's okay. Stay fat. Get diabetes. Everybody die. Lose your fingers.'" Stern argued back: "I don't think she's sending a message to anyone other than 'I want to make you laugh.'"

Seinfeld is set to launch the new season of his original talk show.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee might sound like the name of a not-very-exciting viral video, but it is in fact Jerry Seinfeld’s own talk show. It is coincidentally a web series, which does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s an hour of Seinfeld and a fellow comedian riding around, drinking coffee and being (hopefully) very entertaining. The format was inspired by an episode of his infamous 90s sitcom. In the episode in question, Jerry’s pal George decided success might await him if he lived his failed life in the opposite manner.
Seinfeld wanted to put a new spin on the classic talk show format.
“That,” recalls Seinfeld in a recent interview, “gave me the idea to create a talk show that was the opposite of the typical show. “With a typical talk show,” he explains via the Sun Times, “you have to go to a studio. You have to tell them in advance what you’re going to talk about. You have to dress up. You have to put on makeup. It’s very, very organized.

'America's Got Talent' judges Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howard Stern (alongside his wife Beth Ostrosky Stern) and Howie Mandel pose on the red carpet at the Season 8 Finals event in New York. Mel confirms that she is wearing Stella McCartney as she flaunts a scarlet fishtail gown before one photographer asks if she is sad about comedian Taylor Williamson not winning. 'Yeah, I liked Taylor', she replies. Howie also drew attention as he appeared on the red carpet with a bag of peanuts hanging off his belt inciting a plethora of testicular jokes from the paps.

Fellow judge Howie Mandel soon joins them, showing off what appears to be a bag of peanuts from his belt; presumably meant as a tame innuendo as there is much shocked laughter from his colleagues and the paparazzi.

And the winner is....
America's Got Talent came to an end for the eighth time last night (18 September) and between a magician, a comic, a collection of singers and a Japanese performance artist, one of the final six was crowned this year's AGT winner. It was a surprise filled night as the final performers slowly dwindled away, between performances from the guest entertainers on the night, as America decided who they would press the red buzzer on and who would be going to Las Vegas with $1 million to spend.
Operatic trio Forte and songbird Cami Bradley made it to the final
Just as a recap, here's the final six, incase you forgot. There was 16-year-old Collins Key, the magician, and the comedian Taylor Williamson. Then we had the singers, Cami Bradley, Jimmy Rose and Forte, an opera trio made up of of Fernando Varela, Josh Page and Sean Panikkar. Finally there was Kenichi Ebina, who at 38, the Japanese dancer/performance artist was the oldest of the finalists. Here's how things went...

The Briton and the shock-jock were placed at joint top in Forbes' annual countdown of the 'Highest-Paid TV Personalities'
What do Simon Cowell and Howard Stern both have in common? They're both dirty, stinking rich; that's what and according to the latest figures, they're both about $95 million richer than they were this time last year. According to Forbes' annual countdown of the 'Highest-Paid TV Personalities,' Cowell and Stern are joint top of this year's list, earning $5 million short of $100,000,000 in the space of the last twelve months.
Cowell has made million through his countless business ventures
Described as a "major behind-the-scenes mogul," Simon has seen his value go up even further in the past year through his job as producer; earning mega bucks from his work on The X Factor and the various ...Got Talent series that are aired across the globe. Up to 41 different countries now have their own version of The X Factor, whilst the various ...Got Talent offshoots have made him head of the biggest-selling television franchise in the world. And lets not forget the music either, as the One Direction manager has made a tidy sum through the artists signed to his SyCo label.
The pair tied the knot in a huge ceremony this Saturday.
This Saturday, Jimmy Kimmel married his longtime partner and the co-head writer of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Molly McNearney. According to Us Weekly, both the 45-year-old host and his ladylove, 35, chose very classic looks for their special day – he in a black and white tux and she in a flowing white strapless gown with a diamond-encrusted sash.
The couple have been together for several years.
The diamonds weren’t the only sparkling thing at the star-studded wedding, however. The reception was attended by a slew of A-listers, including Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner, Matt Damon and wife Luciana, Jennifer Aniston and fiance Justin Theroux, Ellen Degeneres and wife Portia De Rossi, Emily Blunt and husband John Krasinski, Howard Stern and Johnny Knoxville were all on the guestlist of some 300 of Kimmel and McNearney’s closest friends and family.
Dismal ratings all round this week.
The reality singing competition landscape is changing and Heidi Klum’s appointment to the America’s Got Talent judging panel is probably the starkest proof. But with televised talent contests floundering left and right, what made the successful model and entrepreneur decide to branch out of fashion? Apparently, Ms Klum wants to share her experience and the business strategies that got her to where she is now. Even her occasional nuggets of wisdom during AGM’s premiere last Tuesday however, couldn’t help the show keep its head above the water.
America’s Got Talent saw some of its lowest ratings for a season opener this week - down 16% among Adults 18-49 from last year’s Season 7 premiere on May 14, 2012. according to Deadline. Still, it did see a mild increase in viewership from last season’s opening numbers – and we do mean very mild, with just 6% up to 11.102 million watching. Obviously, something is a miss. It should be pointed out that, however low the ratings were, America’s Got Talent was still the most watched program of the night. However, even with the addition of Klum and Mel B to the judging panel – which this year also includes vets Howard Stern and Howie Mandel – AGM is struggling to make up for lost ratings.
AGM’s competitor, The Voice, also took a beating this week. The 8 PM show slipped 6% from its live original at 9 PM last week to hit a Tuesday results show low. NBC still managed to take the night in terms of ratings, but it’s obviously an uphill battle at this point. And with the original reality talent competition – American Idol – having just capped off its worst ratings season yet – it’s becoming increasingly clear that the talent shows are fighting a lost war at this point. With or without the drastic lineup changes, the future is looking bleak.

Howard Stern claims Jimmy Fallon's salary is "about a tenth" of his own.
Howard Stern has reacted explosively to rumors he is set to take over from Jimmy Fallon in the late night slot on NBC. A New York Post report claimed that network executives are "grooming" the shock jock for the 12.3am time slot, should Fallon take over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno, whose contract is up in 2014.
However, Stern - the highest paid entertainer in radio - said on his show, "First of all, what an insult. Like, all the years of my career. I'm like, the biggest guy in radio. I've done film. I've done television. I mean, they act like I'm some kind of f--king beginner or something. Maybe if I'm really nice to NBC they'll let me take over Carson Daly's show at like 2 o'clock in the morning," Stern sarcastically quipped.
The comments appear to suggest there's absolutely no chance Stern will be replacing Fallon, though it was considered a surprise when he agreed to be a judge on America's Got Talent. Furthermore, the Post quoted his wife Beth as saying, "He is one of the best interviewers out there," when quizzed on the possibility of her husband taking the job.

Howard Stern to replace Jimmy Fallon in the chat show merry-go-round?
Is it a foot-in-mouth, if Howard Stern does it?
Maybe not, since it is pretty much the shock jock’s job to offend people, but the rare occasion has come when Howard Stern himself has apologized, NY Daily News reports. Well, sort of. After Stern called Girls creator Lena Dunham a “little fat chick” in one of his radio rants, he later had this to add: “I felt bad because I really do love the show Girls," he said on air Monday (January 14). "I admire the girl who writes it. It makes me feel bad, and I think she is getting the impression that I somehow think she's just a talentless little fat chick.” Wonder how people got that idea.
To her credit, Dunham’s response to Stern’s trolling was quite gracious: "I think Howard Stern's really earned the right to freedom of speech," she told the Daily News' [email protected] column at the "Girls" second-season premiere event. After her success at the Golden Globes, Dunham can certainly afford to be noble, and it’s made Stern alter his words as well: "Good for her. It's hard for little fat chicks to get anything going." What, did anyone actually expect Howard Stern to be nice?
Lena Dunham called into The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM on Wednesday (January 16, 2013) to clear the air after a week of light-hearted jibes between the pair. In fact, it started with a rather mean spirited remark from Stern, who referred to the Girls star as "a little fat girl who kinda looks like Jonah Hill, and she keeps taking her clothes off, and it kind of feels like rape."
Dunham's HBO comedy-drama has been hailed for portraying the lives of real twentysomethings in New York, though shock-jock Stern was initially put-off by the whole thing. In his conversation with Dunham, the DJ apologized for his remarks and said he had changed his opinion after watching more episodes of Girls, saying, "I did say those things [but] I guess I just wanna tell you that I love you and I think you're terrific." Citing her earlier interview with David Letterman - in which she stood up for Stern despite his comments - Dunham said, "I was excited [about Stern's comments] and extolling the virtues of your particular brand of free speech.I'm not that fat, Howard.I'm not super thin, but I'm thin, for like, Detroit." Perhaps in attempt to make the writer and actress feel better, Stern said, "You're not obese or anything."
Season two of Girls continues on HBO this Sunday (January 20, 2013) while UK fans need only wait for an extra 24 hours, with the show continuing on Sky Atlantic on Monday.
Continue reading: Lena Dunham Calls Into Howard Stern's Show: I'm Not That Fat!
Lena Dunham and Howard Stern have officially buried the hatchet, as Dunham accepted the shock jock’s apology and pointed out to him “I’m not that fat.” If you’re going to insult someone publicly, it may as well be a comedian, right Howard? We can only assume that’s what Stern was thinking when he decided to slate Dunham and her show, Girls (which, coincidentally, just landed her a couple of Golden Globes last weekend) after watching a couple of episodes and branding her “a little fat chick.”
His comments were met with a fair bit of consternation from Dunham’s army of fans though and Stern eventually backtracked, having watched a bit more of the show and deciding that, in actual fact, he was starting to ‘get’ the show and its creator, Dunham. Yesterday (January 16, 2013), New York Daily News reports, Lena called into Howard Stern’s radio show and said that she accepted his apology, though she made sure that she added “I’m not that fat, Howard. I’m not super-thin but I’m thin for, like Detroit.”
In fact, Stern has not only apologised but he seems to have become a real Lena Dunham enthusiast. “I’m on love with you and your character,” he told her. “I just wanted to tell you that I love you and I think you’re terrific.” Dunham accepted the apology with grace, saying “I appreciate your effort to rectify (this)...Whether you'd done that or not, I'd have remained a (Howard Stern) enthusiast.”
If you’re going to be a shock-jock at least have the cojones to stand by your shock remarks eh!? That’s probably not the line to take here, but it does appear that Howard Stern is softening in his advanced years as he apologized for comments made about Girls star Lena Dunham.
The DJ had seemingly slammed Dunham on his show last week, saying "I learned that this little fat chick writes the show and directs the show and that makes sense to me because she's such a camera hog that the other characters barely are on.” That seems pretty damning to us, right? So too does: "Good for her. It's hard for little fat chicks to get anything going."
However, this was apparently all a terrible mistake, with US Magazine reporting that Stern offered up this bizarre apology that doesn’t seem to correlate with the very clear nature of the comments he’d previously made. "I felt bad because I really do love the show Girls, and enjoy it, and I admire the girl who writes it," he said on-air this week. "It makes me feel bad, and I think she is getting the impression that I somehow think she's just a talentless little fat chick." Well, errr, isn’t that pretty much what you said Howard? Dunham’s ridden with the jibes well, and so she should, the actress is set for great things having won two Golden Globe awards at the weekend for her work on her hit HBO program.
Continue reading: Howard Stern Sorry For Lena Dunham Comments; DJ Apologizes To Girls Star
Howard Stern, to his credit, has really tried to make things better after insulting Girls creator, Lena Dunham. Unfortunately, and to his discredit, the things he said were pretty awful, and almost impossible to come back from.
Stern called Dunham "a little fat girl who kind of looks like Jonah Hill" and that watching the her multi-award winning (most recently Golden Globe winning) show Girls, "feels like a rape" adding "I don't want to see that." Now, that's nasty stuff whatever the context, but he's picked up his shovel named contrition and started digging for light. "I felt bad because I really do love the show 'Girls,' and enjoy it, and I admire the girl who writes it," Stern said of Dunham on Monday. "It makes me feel bad, and I think she is getting the impression that I somehow think she's just a talentless little fat chick."
We can't really speak for Dunham, she does that for herself in her interviews, and via Girls which, again, has wowed critics and fans alike, winning loads of awards on the way. We can, however, suggest to Stern, that if he doesn't want people to get the impression he thinks they're talentless little fat chicks, then he shouldn't call them little fat chicks. It's easy. Really easy stuff. Dunham, clearly unperturbed by his comments, told Letterman, "It put me in the best mood! I just want to be like, my gravestone says, 'She was a little fat chick and she got it going.'"
Howard Stern has used his shock-jock tactics so many times on his radio show that, surely, we should all have long since ceased to be getting shocked by him. However, he was at it once again recently, dissing the recent Golden Globe-winning HBO show Girls, and calling its star Lena Dunham a “fat little girl”.
'It's a little fat girl who kinda looks like Jonah Hill and she keeps taking her clothes off and it kind of feels like rape. She seems - it's like - I don't want to see that,' Stern said, according to the Daily Mail. “I learned that this little fat chick writes the show and directs the show and that makes sense to me because she's such a camera hog that the other characters barely are on” he continued, boringly. “My opinion, if I was a producer on that, I'd say, 'Honey, you're a little too close to the project. You need to allow the other characters to breathe a little and let us get invested in them,' he added whilst the world checked their watch. “Good for her. It's hard for little fat chicks to get anything going.”
Dunham took it very well indeed, telling David Letterman “I did find out that Howard Stern really hates [Girls]. I'm a Howard Stern fan, and really think he has earned the right to free speech and he should just go for it.” Continuing, she added 'But he did say something that is so funny that I wanna get it on my gravestone: 'Congrats to her (Dunham). It's so hard for little fat chicks to get anything going these days'. I want my gravestone to say, 'she was a little fat chick and she got it going'.” The actress has had plenty of support on Twitter in light of the comments, whilst celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson told Us Weekly “He’s, like, literally desensitized himself so much over the years. That guy doesn’t know what’s sexy. What is sexy is the way that Lena exposes herself, exposes her soul, wears her heart on her sleeves and is so freaking confident — that’s sexy.”
Guests arrive at the 'Silver Linings Playbook' premiere in New York City. Among them are some of the movie's stars Brea Bee with her partner Bill Eccleston, Shea Whigham, John Ortiz and Julia Stiles, as well as the author of the 'Silver Linings Playbook novel' Matthew Quick with his wife Alicia Bessette, radio presenter Howard Stern with his model wife Beth Ostrosky, 'Huff' star Oliver Platt, singer Vanessa Carlton, talk show host Donny Deutsch and 'Pieces of April' star Patricia Clarkson.
Howard Stern says he will get Hulk Hogan to drop the sex-tape lawsuit against his long-time friend Bubba The Love Sponge. Speaking to Mr Sponge on his SiriusXM show on Wednesday (October 17, 2012), Stern said, "I'm getting you out of this lawsuit."
Stern's sidekick Robin Quivers joked, "He also is going to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," though Bubba seemed optimistic, saying, "That would be awesome." Former wrestler Hulk Hogan is suing his former friend after a sex-tape of himself with Bubba's ex-wife Heather Clem emerged on gossip site Gawker last week. Stern vowed, "I will get Hogan and Bubba together. I think what Bubba is saying is making a lot of sense. I think if Hogan could hear it and I can translate a little bit and calm everyone down, I think we could see through this. I think I can get Hulk Hogan to take you out of this lawsuit." Hogan's lawyer however, remained steadfast in his desire to take the case to court, telling the New York Daily News, "This is not the Bubba Show, it's litigation. Thanks to Bubba for making our case against him better. We look forward to seeing him in court. At that time it will not be a runaway rant. His time is coming."
Before Stern takes on the case himself, he wanted further details of the tape, asking Bubba "Were the tapes made at your house?" to which his pal replied, "I don't know... I would be able to tell you more if I have seen these tapes." Don't worry Bubba, let your Uncle Howard sort the whole damn thing out.
While filming 'The Dukes of Hazzard', Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson may have had a romantic interaction, according to a lie-detector test Knoxville took.
Johnny Knoxville has been accused of engaging in a relationship with Jessica Simpson, when the 'Jackass' star took a live lie-detector test while on-air for a radio interview on 3rd August 2005. Despite both the Simpson and Knoxville being married to other people, it has been rumoured for a long time that they had a relationship during filming for 'The Dukes of Hazzard'.
Knoxville was amazed by his arrival on Howard Stern's radio interview, when he was asked to take a lie detector test, with questions suddenly including whether or not he had sex with Simpson, before being asked if they had ever kissed, and finally if he had ever thought about her while he was "pleasuring himself".
