Hilary Swank is to present Michael Kors with a fashion award.

The 'Million Dollar Baby' star will honour the 54-year-old fashion designer with the Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion on September 4 at a benefit luncheon at the David H. Koch Theater in the Lincoln Center, New York City.

A string of noble guests will be present during the ceremony, including Reem Acra, Iman Abdulmajid, Patti Hansen, Julie Macklowe, Martha Stewart and Stephanie Winston Wolkoff.

Couture Council chairman Yaz Hernandez told the New York Post newspaper: ''Unlike so many other fashion events, our room is filled with women who buy. not borrow, dresses.''

Michael - who is known for designing classic American sportswear for women - previously said he was ''deeply honoured'' to be receiving the gong and was glad sportswear was finally being recognised.

He said earlier this year: ''I'm deeply honoured to receive this award from the Couture Council. They do such an amazing job putting the spotlight on design, and I think that to be included in the esteemed company that has been awarded this honour in the past is very gratifying and very exciting.''
