The Music Mogul Who Helped Discover Herbie Hancock And Norah Jones Has Died, Aged 79.
Bruce Lundvall, a former CEO at Blue Note Records, passed away on Tuesday (19May15) in a New Jersey hospital after failing to regain consciousness following recent surgery, according to his biographer Dan Ouellette.
As well as Hancock and Jones, Lundvall is credited with signing Wynton Marsalis and Natalie Cole to Blue Note.
He began his career at Columbia Records and built up the label's jazz roster. He also had executive positions at Elektra Records and Manhattan.
Lundvall stepped down as president of Blue Note in 2010.
