The actor thinks superheroes represent "different factions of the human psyche".
There's now under a week to go until the release of 'Justice League'; the latest entry into the DC Extended Universe and a film that will hopefully continue riding off of the success of 'Wonder Woman'. Whilst 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', 'Suicide Squad' and 'Man of Steel' didn't see the best critical reviews, 'Wonder Woman' was an immediate success with both reviewers and the wider general public. 'Justice League' will hope to follow the latter's trend.
Henry Cavill is set to return as Superman in 'Justice League' following his time in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'
Warner Bros., along with director Zack Snyder and co-writer Joss Whedon have brought the heroes of the Justice League together for the first time in live-action, with Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg stepping in to join Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman. Together, they'll take on the threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons, who have invaded planet Earth to try and get their hands on a trio of Mother Boxes, which would grant them ultimate power.
It's a story that seems miles away from anything that could happen in the real world, but relatability for viewers and fans is still one of the most important things that the movie could have. That's something that Superman actor Henry Cavill recognises, as he explained to an audience in recent weeks.
Speaking at a recent London press conference, Cavill said (according to Screen Rant): "Watching the team dynamic as characters is one of my favorite things about this movie, because superheroes are all different factions of the human psyche, personality traits, just personified and made grand. So everyone who’s watched this movie will have something they can associate with while watching each one of these performances. And everyone watching this movie is going to identify with the 'at the between' characters and the similarities between characters as well."
Whether or not viewers will feel the same way following the movie's release remains to be seen, but it's fair to say that in the past, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, alongside Cavill have been some of the biggest standouts from their respective DCEU flicks of the past, bringing their heroes to life in the best way and representing some of DC's most recognisable characters perfectly.
If Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller can do the same with Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash respectively, they'll be onto a winner.
