When it comes to the DC Extended Universe, it's fair to say the reaction to the majority of its movies so far has been completely split. 'Wonder Woman' broke the mould, bringing in amazing reviews from both critics and the wider general viewing public, but for the flicks that came before it such as 'Suicide Squad' and 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', there was a lot of venom and raised eyebrows.

This month, the latest addition to the DCEU comes in the form of 'Justice League', with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck's Batman teaming up with Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and the returning Superman (Henry Cavill). Forced to defend Earth once more, they'll go up against their most formidable threat in Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons who are all in search of a trio of Mother Boxes scattered across the planet. With them, Steppenwolf would claim ultimate power, bringing death and destruction to millions.

That means that, despite their completely different personalities, the heroes will have to put their differences aside and band together for the greater good. Of course, there are some wise-cracking members of the team, which potential audiences are hoping will bring a lot of humour and a lighter side to the upcoming film. Whilst that could still be the case, Cavill says that it would be an "injustice" to call 'Justice League' a "light" film.

Speaking with WSVN-TV, Cavill explained: "The tone of the film - I'm not going to say it is light, because that would be doing it an injustice. It has a serious scenario with moments of humour and lightness peppered throughout."

He adds: "When people are in bad situations, gallows humour does come into effect. Like guys in the armed forces, a lot of them have really bizarre senses of humour and it gets [them] through, and we have those. We have those in this movie."

Whatever the case may be, the proof will be in the pudding when 'Justice League' finally hits the big screen. Whilst we imagine the box office takings will be huge no matter what, the reaction from critics and the public will be what everybody remembers. Let's hope it follows in the vein of 'Wonder Woman' rather than the other DCEU flicks...
