Fact: Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney is set to tackle the Church of Scientology in a documentary inspired by Lawrence Wright's controversial book Going Clear. The Taxi to the Dark Side director has teamed up with bosses at U.S. cable network HBO to investigate the links between the Church and superstar members like Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown, which was made in co-operation with the late superstar's estate, will feature previously-unseen footage of the music icon. It is Jagger's second Brown project - he also helped to bring his life story to the big screen with the summer (14) release of biopic Get On Up, which featured Chadwick Boseman as the Godfather of Soul.
Fact: Screenwriter/actress Lena Dunham is turning documentary maker to spotlight the work of a gay-friendly bespoke tailoring firm in Brooklyn, New York. The Girls star will serve as an executive producer on Three Suits, which will follow three of Bindle & Keep's transgender clients as they attend fittings for their custom-made suits. Jason Benjamin, who has taken charge of a number of Girls episodes, will direct the programme for U.S. cable network HBO.
Fact: Nicki Minaj stunned Beyonce's French fans on Friday night (12Sep14) when she appeared onstage with her pal at the first of two On the Run Tour shows in Paris. Minaj and Beyonce teamed up to perform their duet Flawless Remix for the sold out crowd. The magical moment was captured on camera for an upcoming HBO special, which will debut in America later this month (Sep14).
Fact: Hit fantasy series Game Of Thrones has become U.S. Tv network HBO's most popular series in the cable company's history with an average of 18.4 million viewers during the current fourth season of the show. That figure beats out The Sopranos' average viewing figure.

Fact: The season four premiere of Game Of Thrones scored stellar ratings on Sunday (06Apr14), as the fantasy drama garnered a gross audience of 8.2 million viewers, the largest audience for America's HBO network since 11.9 million tuned in for the series finale of The Sopranos in 2007. An online streaming website for Hbo even crashed the same night as fans flocked to watch the show.

Fact: Bill Murray is to star in HBO miniseries Olive Kitteridge in a rare Tv appearance. Based on the award-winning book by Elizabeth Stout, the series centres on a town in New England where tragedy and scandal are rife. Frances MCDormand will play the title character and Murray will take the role of her widower friend Jack Dennison.

Fact: Author and Tv writer Jonathan Ames is reviving his axed comedy series Bored To Death as a small screen movie. The show, starring Jason Schwartzman as a bumbling private detective, ran for three seasons on U.S. cable network HBO before being axed in 2011. He is now working on a movie version for Hbo, although it is not yet clear whether Schwartzman and co-stars Ted Danson and Zach Galifiankis will return to reprise their characters.

Fact: Bosses at U.S. cable network HBO have picked up The Social Network screenwriter Aaron Sorkin's new TV drama The Newsroom for a second season, just a week after its premiere. Fact: Ewan McGregor's new TV series has been axed before it aired. HBO bosses have decided not to press on with the adaptation of Jonathan Franzen's bestseller The Corrections after checking out the pilot episode, which featured MCGregor and Maggie Gyllenhaal and Chris Cooper and Dianne Weist as their parents.

Fact: Hollywood stars Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte are teaming up for a new TV drama set in the world of horse racing. LUCK, for U.S. cable network HBO, will be directed by Ali filmmaker Michael Mann and also star Dennis Farina and Gary Stevens. An air date has yet to be announced.
Fact: Former The Sopranos star James Gandolfini is set to return to U.S. TV for the first time since the cult crime drama ended, in a new comedy series about a sharp-tongued New York City taxi driver. The actor has signed on as an executive producer of Taxi 22, a half-hour HBO comedy series, and he's in negotiations to star in the project.
Fact: John Goodman's return to U.S. television has been such a smash success network executives at cable channel HBO have already picked up his new drama TREME for a second season after just one episode aired last week (11Apr10). Goodman plays a college professor in New Orleans coping with the aftermath of 2005's devastating Hurricane Katrina.
Fact: Drew Barrymore's TV movie Grey Gardens was a big hit for HBO network executives - the programme drew 1.8 million viewers when it debuted in the U.S. on Saturday night (18Apr09), becoming HBO's fourth most-watched original premiere movie since 2004.
Fact: The Sopranos star James Gandolfini is returning to U.S. TV network HBO to star in ABCD CAMP, in which he plays the man who signed basketball ace Michael Jordan to the first multi-million dollar shoe deal at Nike. Gandolfini will also executive produce the show.
Fact: The Sopranos will return for the second half of its final season with one more episode than expected on 8 April (07). Creator DAVID CHASE produced nine episodes of the show's sixth and final season, rather than the eight that had been ordered. He is also writing and directing the finale, which will air on US network HBO.
Fact: Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Robert Iler will be guest starring as themselves on the new season of hit series ENTOURAGE. The Sopranos siblings were approached at HBO's Emmy party on Sunday (27AUG06) by Entourage producers who asked them to change their flights back to New York City so they could stay in Los Angeles and shoot an appearance on the show this week (ends 01SEP06).
