Ahead of Wednesday's Manchester gig, an Asda superstore in Hulme suspended the sale of Kiwi fruit to under-25s.
An Asda store in Manchester announced that it temporarily banned the sale of kiwi fruits to anybody under the age of 25, in a bizarre move motivated by Harry Styles.
The odd crackdown on the fruit came after the former One Direction singer was pelted onstage with them during a gig in London earlier this week when performing the song ‘Kiwi’.
In an effort to prevent the same thing from happening at last night’s gig in Manchester’s O2 Apollo, wary that Styles might get covered in the fruit or slip on pulp onstage, anybody who attempted to purchase kiwi fruits from the Hulme superstore nearby was asked for ID if they looked like they might be the correct demographic to be a Styles fan.

“We know our customers love Harry Styles and we feel it’s our duty to protect a fellow Mancunian from any ‘bad kiwis’ amongst us,” an Asda spokesperson announced ahead of Wednesday’s gig (November 1st).
“We’d hate to see a repeat of the mishap this evening, so to avoid any slippery situations, we feel this is a necessary measure.”

While performing at London’s Eventim Apollo on Sunday and Monday night earlier this week, Styles slipped on a kiwi that had been lobbed onstage by a fan, reaching out to grab his mic stand in order to stop himself falling over.
Telling the crowd about his slip on-stage, he said: “You may have seen me fall earlier during this song… it appeared to be a Kiwi. That was the culprit, some green seedy mush. Look, there's another! This could end up being a problem.”
Styles is currently in the middle of an 86-date world tour to promote his eponymous debut solo record, released back in May this year.
