A series of previously unreleased songs country legend Hank Williams performed on a 1950 radio series is set to be released in May (14).

The four shows were pre-taped and aired on early country radio stations. The recordings were long thought lost, but bosses at one outlet, Ksib-Am in Iowa, kept a copy of the performances in their archives and have since had the 64-year-old tape transferred, restored and mastered for The Garden Spot Programs, 1950 set.

The project, which features 24 songs and jingles, will be made available for download and on vinyl on 20 May (14) by Omnivore Records.

Williams died in 1953.
