Green Day Tear Into Trump In 'Troubled Times' Video

Green Day

Green Day have never exactly been quiet about their feelings on Donald Trump, but they've taken their opinion of his upcoming inauguration to the next level with a scornful video for their new song 'Troubled Times', which features a rather unflattering representation of the president-elect.

Green DayGreen Day trash Donald Trump in their latest video

The lyric video for the politically-charged track - designed by Manu Viqueira and David Rodriguez Simón - strings together a montage of images with references to slavery, racism, Islamophobia, the proposed 'wall', sexism and atomic bombs, while Donald Trump is featured as a flailing figure with razor sharp teeth and his face obscured by a mass of yellow hair under a red 'Make America Great Again' cap.

Green Day Rock The House With Anti-Trump Rendition Of 'Bang Bang'

Green Day

Green Day truly invoked the spirit of punk with their performance of single 'Bang Bang' at the American Music Awards this weekend. It was an energetic, politically charged show that topped all the performances of the night including those of Lady Gaga and Twenty One Pilots.

The song 'Bang Bang' is the lead single from Green Day's recently released twelfth studio album 'Revolution Radio', but it wasn't the song that caused such a buzz last night (November 20th 2016). Green Day made their feelings about Donald Trump becoming president-elect very clear with their MDC tribute mid-track.

Green Day - Revolution Radio Album Review

Few bands reach 30 years in the business and fewer still produce output that keeps them from becoming a heritage act, but Green Day have managed just this.  2004's 'American Idiot' reignited their popularity, but 2012's triple-album onslaught was overshadowed by a personal problems and rehabilitation.  The band's popularity remains intact though, with a recent set of UK headline shows selling out almost instantly.

Green Day - Revolution Radio Album Review

Whilst they may be leaders in the punk-rock genre, Green Day's most popular moment arguably remains the melodic 'Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)'.  With this in mind, the gentle opening to 'Somewhere Now' shouldn't be so surprising, though the band open up before long.  'Bang Bang', offering a critique of gun culture in the age of social media, proves nearly as thrilling as 'American Idiot' while the title track of the record also blasts along forcefully.  In contrast, the plodding 'Say Goodbye' loses momentum, but the power-balladry of 'Outlaws' proves a solid if unspectacular turn.

Whereas many records will cram the middle running with filler tracks, here it contains three of the more enjoyable moments.  'Bouncing Off The Wall' has suitably crashing power chords, while the survivalist content of 'Still Breathing' makes for a radio-friendly anthem that was an obvious choice as a single.  Similarly energetic is 'Youngblood', a simple and infectious cut, while 'Forever Now' shows they still have the ambition to be progressive, though it is no 'Jesus Of Suburbia'.  For many bands a record of this standard would be a career peak; Green Day have done better, but this stands as a fine release.

Green Day Announce New Album 'Revolution Radio', And Stream First Single 'Bang Bang'

Green Day

After a break of nearly four years, punk rock veterans Green Day have announced details of their 12th studio album, titled Revolution Radio, and shared a stream of a new single called ‘Bang Bang’.

It’s the first new music since the 2012 trilogy of Uno!, Dos! and Tre!, all released in the same year, although the band did share a one-off Christmas single in December last year. ‘Bang Bang’ is the first single to come from the new album, which will be released on October 7th via Reprise.

Told from the point of view of the perpetrator of a mass shooting – the kind that has tragically once again captured America’s national consciousness in the wake of recent events – ‘Bang Bang’ promises to revisit the political territory of Green Day’s 2004 classic American Idiot.

Album Of The Day: 'Dookie' By Green Day

Not one for the punk purists out there but nonetheless an exceptional album - no-one can deny that Green Day were a huge part of the 90s revival of punk rock, and major label debut 'Dookie' is their best example of that.

The main festival line-up was announced on Monday morning (July 15, 2013) in a press conference hosted by Ryan Seacrest. Last year's festivals played host to No Doubt, Pink, Usher and Swedish House Mafia though it will be remembered for Billie Joe Armstrong's meltdown during Green Day's set. Uno, Dos, Tres, Go! Green Day Back On The Road, Billie Joe Armstrong Thanks Fans For Support

Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong

Things are finally starting to look up in the Green Day camp, with news of a 2013 tour suggesting that singer Billie Joe Armstrong is on the road to recovery. Armstrong suffered a highly-publicised onstage meltdown last year and the band were forced to cancel their touring schedule whilst he went to rehab for substance abuse issues.

In a statement released by the singer on Monday (December 31, 2012), he thanked fans for their support, saying “I just want to thank you all for the love and support you've shown for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn't gone unnoticed and I'm eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I'm getting better every day. So now, without further ado, the show must go on.” The rescheduled tour is due to start on March 28, 2013 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago and the band added a message to their fans saying “We want to thank everyone for hanging in with us for the last few months. We are very excited to hit the road and see all of you again, though we regret having to cancel more shows.”

A previously scheduled date at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland (January 30, 2013) has been cancelled. Refunds will be available for that show.

Green Day Will Return For New Tour In March 2013

Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong

Whatever happened to the standard press release, or even just a notice left on the website of a band? That is not cool anymore, now Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have taken over, and Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day has revealed that there will be a 2013 Greenday tour, much to the delight of fans worldwide.

"Dear friends" the screen-shotted 'notes' Instagram image said, "I just want to thank you all for the love and support you've showed us for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn't gone unnoticed and I'm eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I'm getting better everyday." He continued, "So now, without further ado, the show must go on... We can't wait to get on the road and live out loud! Our passion has only grown stronger... Happy new year... We love you all... Rage and love XX BILLY JOE". Oh, and with a little flourish at the end, he added "P.S... Green day tour in march".

2012 has been a difficult year for the band, seeing Armstrong have a melt down on stage, as well as having to cancel a stint of shows earlier on in the year. Armstrong has since been to rehab to beat an unnamed addiction and they've since released a trio of albums titled ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!

Out Now: US Album Releases - The Game Enlists Some Big Competitors; Can They Stop Bruno Mars From Going Stratospheric Again?

Bruno Mars The Game Big Boi Green Day

Last week saw the mighty talents of Alicia Keys displace Rihanna’s Unapologetic from the top of the Billboard 200 in a big way, with the former holder of the number one spot falling down to sixth. Girl On Fire was Keys’ fifth number one record in the States, taking in sales of 159,000 on its way to the top spot. Those are solid figures to be sliding off coming into the new weekend, but will they be enough to hold on? The good news for Keys is that, with Christmas approaching, new releases are thin on the ground. The bad news is that one of them’s the new Bruno Mars album.

Yes, though he may appear to physically have the consistency of candle wax, Mars has written a darn fine second album, with Unorthodox Jukebox a canny exercise in carefully choosing the right combination of influences to click together; allayed with the Grammy Award-winning star’s penchant for a big whole-hearted chorus, we can see this doing just as well as his 2010 debut Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which went on to sell over six million copies worldwide including 1.7 million in the States.

Out Now: US Album Releases – One Direction, Green Day, Christina Aguilera, Soundgarden

One Direction Taylor Swift Susan Boyle Christina Aguilera Soundgarden Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong

Still riding high at the top of the US Billboard chart, is Taylor Swift – everybody’s favourite country music princess turned pop star. Her album, Red, is currently enjoying its third week at the top of the US chart but there are some high profile releases coming out this week. We’ve profiled a few of them below but there are others to be considered too, such as Rolling Stones’ Greatest Hits anthology, GRRR! and Susan Boyle’s latest album, Standing Ovation.

Here’s our pick of the best US releases this week… our money’s on One Direction politely asking Taylor swift to leave that seat at the top of the Billboard chart, with their album Take Me Home. And hey, who could resist the charm of those young Brits, eh?

If anyone’s going to challenge Taylor this week, One Direction could well be the act to do it. Their debut album, Up All Night is already sitting respectably at number 23 in the Billboard albums chart and, with a recent appearance on the US X Factor show under their belts, they are surely destined for big things with their sophomore effort. They have already become one of the biggest success stories in chart history, in terms of UK imports. With their debut album, One Direction became the first British band in US chart history to top the Billboard 200 chart with a debut album. Their popularity has grown, even since then and they’re fast becoming one of the biggest bands on the planet. Their last single ‘Live While We’re Young’ was a number 3 hit and they’re our tip for the top this week.

Out Now - UK Album Releases, November 12, 2012 - One Direction, Rolling Stones, Christina Aguilera, Twilight Breaking Bad - Part 2

One Direction Rolling Stones Christina Aguilera Soundgarden Green Day Deftones

Robbie Williams might be sitting pretty at the top of the UK Album Charts after the weekend, but if said charts have taught us anything, it’s that time makes fools of us all, and we fully expect Mr. Williams – comparatively an elder statesman of the British pop world compared to this week’s leading contender – to fall by the wayside this coming weekend.

Who are these young bucks, Brylcreemed up and smelly freshly of Lynx ready take the crown that Robbie’s new LP told us so explicitly to watch? Why it’s One Direction of course, who’ve graduated to stardom Stateside too since the release of their first album Up All Night last year. The X Factor alumni bring out their follow-up Take Me Home this week, and you’d have to be one of Williams’ family to bet against the youngsters knocking auld Rob off his perch.

Green Day Launches New 'Twilight' Video For 'The Forgotten' (Video)

Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong

Green Day has released the official video for their 'Twilight' soundtrack song 'The Forgotten' which features on final instalment of the book-to-film franchise 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn'.

It's a romantic piano tune that speaks straight to the heart; coupled with Billie Joe Armstrong's soft but passionate vocals telling a melancholy tale of the two troubled lovers of the movie, it really does serve as the perfect song for the last part of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen's story. The video itself features clips from the movie as well as footage from Green Day's live shows making a great promotional feature for both the 'Twilight' franchise and the band.

The 'American Idiot' rockers have admitted to agreeing to do the soundtrack number because they wanted to be a part of the whole scene. 'We readily agreed because the films are an insane cultural phenomenon, and we have always been impressed with the way the Twilight soundtracks are so carefully curated', said bassist Mike Dirnt talking to Yahoo! Movies.  And it's just as well because GD fans are growing less than impressed with the band after they chose to cancel the rest of their tour dates for this year and the beginning of next year following concerns of Armstrong's well-being after being sent to rehab for alcohol and drug related problems.

It's A Dark Day For Green Day As Tour Is Cancelled

Billie Joe Armstrong Green Day

In a cruel twist of fate, and somewhat tragic irony, Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong has been forced to cancel the band's tour, in favour of spending time in rehab - a place uncannily similar, though perhaps a touch more serious, to what can be seen in the video for Basket Case.

After his untimely 'meltdown' at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas Armstrong has been admitted into rehab, which bassist Mike Dirnt describes as "no joke". This news has forced the band to cancel some dates of their tour, for which everyone who purchased a ticket will be able to get a full refund at the point of purchase. However, the third instalment of their trilogy of albums titled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! has been forced forwards to a release date of 11th December 2012, as opposed to January 2013 - a small silver lining for Green Day fans. Armstrong is currently suffering with substance abuse and dependence that he and the band hope to be able to work through enabling him to get back to what he loves.

"Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern," Dirnt said. "We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can't wait to see you all again soon." According to Syracuse tour dates from January 7th onwards will be honoured at a later date.

Tour Dates Cancelled: But It's Not All Bad News For Green Day

Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong

Green Day have been forced to cancel tour dates and reschedule an album release, owing to singer Billie Joe Armstrong’s stint in rehab.

2012 simply isn’t shaping up as the punk rockers had hoped. The band were planning to release three albums in quick succession, entitled Uno!, Dos! and Tre! and they had a Fall club tour planned, as a precursor to an even bigger arena tour. Billie Joe’s admission to rehab has pretty much put an end to that though. According to Entertainment Weekly, the band released a statement today that revealed they have cancelled the remainder of their 2012 dates and 21 of their 2013 dates, in January and February.

Billie Joe Armstrong Video Provides Few Clues Of Rocker's Problems

Billie Joe Armstrong Green Day

With Billie Joe Armstrong in rehab for still unspecified reasons Green Day are holding back their planned tour for the time being, but have given fans a taste of what they can get when they do return by posting a 20 minute video of a show from before Armstrong's infamous breakdown occurred.

The footage shows the last 20 minutes of the mammoth concert, that saw the band play massive 40 song set at New York's Irving Plaza. The footage shows Armstrong carrying his usual stage demeanour with him to the stage, as he and band mates Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool jammed their way through tracks like 'Ride', 'When I Come Around', 'She and 'American Idiot'. The footage lacks any clear reason as to why the rocker would go on to make such a furore a week later at Vegas' iHeartRadio Festival.

Back in September, the band announced that singer Billie Joe had committed himself into rehab for help unspecified substance issues. Armstrong is set to remain in rehab for an unspecified time, with the band holding back the remainder of the tour until their lead singer and guitarist has made a full recovery. The band are still on track to release their next album, Dos! on November 13.

Brothers In Arms: Green Day Await Billie Joe Armstrong's Return

Billie Joe Armstrong Green Day

Billie Joe Armstrong’s stint in rehab is “killing everyone,” according to his fellow Green Day comrade Mike Dirnt.

Armstrong was admitted to rehab for substance abuse after he fell off the wagon during the band’s recent touring stint. Matters came to a head when Green Day were playing the iHeartRadio show on September 21 and Billie Joe launched into an aggressive rant onstage, under the belief that their set had been cut short.

“I know that my friend's life is in danger and that's all I care about,” Dirnt told Kerrang! magazine in a recent interview (reported by MTV News). “He's in the middle of some really big things, but we're going to pull through. It's killing everyone. Green Day has never been a band that sits still, but sometimes you have to step back and let life go on rather than try to control everything.” Green day were in the middle of a promotional schedule for releasing three albums in quick succession. Dirnt admitted that the pressures of the schedule may have contributed to the singer’s downfall and added that he was unsure when Armstrong would be considered well enough to return to work.

A Week In Music Featuring: Ellie Goulding, Green Day, Paloma Faith, Axewound, The Vaccines And Much More!

Albums of Note... That 'difficult second album' phase is probably even more difficult when - in between your first and second album - you have performed at the Royal wedding, had your songs splashed all over the TV, dumped one of the UK's best-known radio DJs (Greg James) and started dating one of the United States' best-known producers (Skrillex). Ellie Goulding seems to have done a solid job of navigating the pressures of retaining her identity, whilst no doubt being squeezed by her record label. Overall though, Halcyonis not quite the blast of personality that we expected from Goulding: "The most disappointing thing is that they've not even really allowed Goulding's voice to flourish. She has a vocal that's pleasant if not exactly stand out, but all life in it's been stamped out through auto-tuning and correction, the singer sounding as though she's being possessed by the spirit of nothing at all."

A Week in Music - October 16, 2012

Tall Ships are beginning to gather serious momentum on the live circuit in the UK and their debut album, Everything Touching cements that reputation. It's by no means a perfect debut but Tall Ships are already breaking free of the 'math rock' parameters that have been loosely placed about them. "The majority of the ten tracks are instrumentally intense with sounds overlapping and complimenting each other. An intriguing debut from Tall Ships, but there's just a spark missing. They should cut down on the instrumentals and replace with some words because, when they're used, the science and instrumental beauty are amplified perfectly."

Green Day 'pap' shot.

Green Day Cancel Voodoo Fest Gig And Open Up On Billie Joe Rehab

Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong

Green Day have announced that they have to pull out of a headline slot at the October 27 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience festival in New Orleans, with lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong in rehab for substance abuse.

Mike Dirnt, the bassist for the band, admitted releasing three albums in quick succession was more than they could handle: "With hindsight 20/20 it was a tremendous undertaking," he told BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe. "Although we were having fun we didn't take our nose out of the book for a long time. I think it catches up with you a little bit ... We definitely just jumped off a moving train." Armstrong’s admittance to rehab was predicated by his outburst during Green Day's September 21 performance at iHeartRadio, and Dirnt opened up on that too. "There were signs of things hitting the fan," he said. "We hadn't slept in forever and Billie had definitely had the worst of it. He'd been going through his own struggles ... We were there with him but you can only handle things on your own ... At the end of the day when we got off the road the most important thing was my friend's life."

Green Day fanatics will be hoping Billie Joe gains a full recovery, and quickly, as their live show is touted as being a special one indeed. The band still plan to release the next album in the series, ¡Dos! on November 13, so punk-fans will have to make do with that, in the meantime.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Soundtrack Listing Finally Announced

Green Day Passion Pit Ellie Goulding Skrillex St. Vincent Feist Christina Perri Stephenie Meyer James Vincent McMorrow Paul McDonald Nikki Reed Reeve Carney

The tracklisting for Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 has finally been announced, via Yahoo and amongst the highlights of this latest instalment are Green Day, Passion Pit and Ellie Goulding. Green Day, obviously are a pretty big coup for the compilers of the soundtrack (Summit Entertainment release the album in collaboration with Chop Shop Records and Atlantic Records) and the band’s bass player Mike Dirnt spoke to Yahoo! about contributing their track ‘The Forgotten’ and said “When we were asked to be part of the 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' soundtrack, we readily agreed because the films are an insane cultural phenomenon, and we have always been impressed with the way the 'Twilight' soundtracks are so carefully curated.”

Ellie Goulding’s track will draw attention to the soundtrack too, not only because it’s an exclusive track but because it’s the first track that she’s released, to have been produced by her new boyfriend Skrillex. Following in the vein of slightly kooky female artists, St. Vincent and Feist have both contributed a track; both will undoubtedly make an excellent accompaniment to the dark, moody atmosphere of the Twilight movie.

Coming from a slightly more mainstream angle, Christina Perri returns with ‘A Thousand Years (Part Two)’. Naturally, it’s a follow on from her theme to the first installment of Breaking Dawn and Perri was almost a dead cert to be included on this final musical bow. She’s such a fan of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga that she has the word ‘Bitten’ tattooed on her, in the Twilight font. She told Yahoo! “I am so honored and excited to be involved again in this final film and soundtrack.” She revealed that part two of the track will be different but hasn’t yet said how and the tracks are yet to be released. “It's not the same [as the original]... you'll just have to wait and see how,” she teased.

Jack White Exits Stage After Just 45 Minutes

Jack White White Stripes Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong

The Jack White Blunderbuss gig was brought to an untimely halt last night after White left the stage 45 minutes into the set, reports Reuters.

Critically acclaimed as one of the most accomplished artists of a generation, Jack White can still attract crowds long after the band that made him famous subsided. But he angered those crowds, who lovingly gathered at the New York venue, Radio City Music Hall on Saturday night (September 29th) by walking off stage after just 45 minutes. He thanked the full capacity audience before leaving stage right. Initially, fans chanted their desire for more White guitar plucking, but what was once a playful imploration, turned quickly into anger, as the realisation that he was done spread through the crowd. "Chatter about Jack White's abbreviated show at New York's Radio City Music Hall last night has officially lasted longer than the concert itself," noted Spin.com, the music website. Security at the gig rushed to protect the stage door, as particularly angry punters set about confronting The White Stripes star. As of yet, no explanation has been given to the short-lived set.

In other 'musical icons disappoint loving fans' news, Green Day star Billie Joe Armstrong performed a similar, but more troublesome stunt on stage recently, but he was bemoaning the lack of time on stage, rather than cutting it short. And besides, Billie Joe has recently admitted himself to rehab: a reason, rather than an excuse.

Billie Joe Armstrong Rehab Update: Green Day Singer Had Been Sober For A Year

Billie Joe Armstrong Green Day

Before Billie Joe Armstrong entered rehab for substance abuse, he had been sober for a year before falling off the wagon last weekend. The Green Day singer has entered rehab after he lost the plot onstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. If you were thinking it was strange that Armstrong had been carted off to rehab so quickly after just one outburst of what many would simply put down to a rock and roll hissy-fit, then the news that he had actually been sober for twelve months prior to his guitar-smashing rant should put things into perspective a little better.

According to Celebuzz.com, Billie Joe is “in rehab and his family is by his side.” They spoke to Claudia Suarez Wright, who is the Green Day drummer Tre Cool’s ex-wife. Billie Joe is the godfather of one of her children. She told reporters “He’s my son’s godfather so it’s very hard for kids to see this happen. And it must be very difficult for his wife and family.” Claudia confirmed that the front-man had stayed away from the bottle for a year before slipping off the wagon and put his lapse down to the pressures of the job. “They have a new album coming out and it’s a demanding lifestyle. It’s very difficult.”

Armstrong had been drinking heavily in Las Vegas prior to the iHeartMusic Festival. “When he was in Vegas he was drinking a lot. The night of the show he had been drinking… In Las Vegas there’s a lot of temptation to drink and it’s tough to be around when you’re fighting against it.” Billie Joe’s wife and mother are with him to support him whilst he’s in rehab.

Can Billie Joe Armstrong Work On ‘The Voice’ While In Rehab?

Billie Joe Armstrong Green Day Christina Aguilera

Will Billie Joe Armstrong’s rehab keep him from appearing as a mentor for Christina Aguilera’s team on ‘The Voice’? This is one of many questions being asked by confused fans of the Green Day singer, who suffered an onstage meltdown at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday (September 21, 2012).

The 40-year-old appeared to become irate after claiming the band had been cut short. He yelled, “One minute left, one minute (expletive) left. You're gonna give me (expletive) one minute? ... I'm not (expletive) Justin Bieber, you (expletives)!” Quite what poor old Justin had to do with anything is unclear, though Billie Joe proceeded to smash his guitar into smithereens before being promptly carted off to rehab. In a statement apologizing for the singer’s behavior, Green Day told Facebook fans, “Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologise to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.” The stint in rehab marks a rough couple of weeks for the rocker, who was hospitalized with an undisclosed ailment on September 1, 2012, but recovered to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6.

According to Deadline.com, Armstrong will still appear as a mentor on ‘The Voice’ as the audition stages were taped earlier this summer. It is not clear whether Armstrong will be available for the live rounds.

Billie Joe Armstrong 'The Voice' Appearance Still On Despite Weekend Breakdown

Billie Joe Armstrong Green Day

Billie Joe Armstrong's on-stage meltdown won't affect his scheduled appearance on NBC reality singing contest The Voice according to show bosses. Deadline reports that Armstrong filmed his appearance some weeks ago and, according to a rep, they were "all taped and set". It's now been widely reported that the Green Day front man lost his rag somewhat during an appearance at iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.

Angry at having their set cut from 45 minutes to 25 minutes so that the following act Usher could have more time on stage, Armstrong cut short their 1994 anthem Basketcase and launched into a foul-mouthed tirade that at one point saw him bizarrely proclaim "I'm not f***ing Justin Bieber". Armstrong has since checked himself into rehab, and on Sunday (September 23rd) the band issued the following statement via Facebook:

"Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances." The timing of it isn't ideal, given that the group should be going full tilt with promotion for their new album Uno!, but there hasn't been any announcement on any forthcoming tour dates being affected, so we're trusting Billie has it under control.

Rehab For Green Day Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong Was Only A Matter Of Time

Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong's admittance to rehab after his very public on-stage meltdown at iHeartRadio Music Festival was a long time coming, reports the Chicago Sun Times.

"You're going to give me one minute? One f---ing minute? I've been around since f---ing 19 f---ing 80 f---ing 8, and you're going to give me one f---ing minute? I'm not f---ing Justin Bieber, you motherf---ers." That was Armstrong's rather dramatic response to the "one-minute" warning being flashed at him from a TelePrompter monitor. He then stormed off stage smashing his guitar as he exited. The band have recently apologised for his outburst, and the punk singer has since agreed to go to rehab to be treated for substance misuse. "Billie Joe has been a loose cannon for a long time," said a Green Day insider. "It's long past time when he should be getting some serious help."

An official statement on the band's Facebook page had previously alerted fans to the singers plight, and seek for help: "Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances." We at Contactmusic wish Billy all the best as we listen to Greenday hits all day. Get well soon!

Irish supergroup U2 arrived in Australia yesterday (31OCT06) to complete the postponed leg of their VERTIGO tour. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr flew into Sydney from their Dublin base before heading to Australia's Gold Coast via private jet to prepare for the tour. The band's legion of Australian fans have been holding their tour tickets since March (06), when U2 suddenly postponed the concerts to allow The Edge to be with his family as a relative battled a serious illness. The eight-month break from their world tour allowed Bono the opportunity to launch his new initiative RED, which raises funds for women and children suffering from HIV/AIDS in Africa. The band also recorded a cover of punk anthem THE SAINTS ARE COMING with Green Day to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina in the US. Bono is currently in talks to appear as a special guest at the inaugural Make Poverty History concert in Melbourne, Australia on 17 November (06). The band's tour kicks off in Brisbane on Monday night (06NOV06).
