The actress does however think that the future is female.
Gillian Anderson is without a doubt one of the most talented British actors of the modern day. Having starred in critically-acclaimed shows such as 'The Fall' and 'American Gods', she's arguably most well known for her leading role as Dana Scully in 'The X-Files'; one she's had since the show started all the way back in 1993.
Gillian Anderson isn't happy with the 'X-Files' staff
Unfortunately for Anderson, despite being such a big part of 'The X-Files', it seems it's taking even longer than the two decades it's been popular with fans for her voice to make an impression on those in charge.

The actress also finds the role of Media "pretty daunting".
Gillian Anderson is one of the most recognisable actresses of the modern day. Whether you know her from her early acting days in 'The X-Files', or her more recent roles such as Stella in crime drama series 'The Fall', she's somebody who manages to bring a real sense of relatablity to each character she brings to life. When you see Anderson take on a role, you wonder if anybody else would have been able to do as good a job.

Her most recent small screen role is that of Media in 'American Gods'. Based on the award-winning novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman, the series tells the story of an impending war between the Old Gods and the New Gods, with Ricky Whittle and Ian McShane leading the charge on the show as Shadow Moon and Mr. Wednesday respectively.

Following a brief but successful 6-episode comeback in 2016, Fox has approved a further 10-part series of 'The X-Files' for this year.
‘The X-Files’ has been renewed for a further series to be broadcast in the 2017-18 television season, following a successful re-boot of the sci-fi favourite last year.
The Fox network announced on Thursday (April 20th) that it had ordered a second part to what it describes as ‘The X-Files’ ‘event series’, and which will begin to air in the summer of 2017 in the States, though a precise date was not revealed.

'Viceroy's House' follows the life of the last Viceroy of India who was the figurehead of relinquishing British rule on the Indian subcontinent in 1947. Lord Mountbatten and his wife Lady Edwina Mountbatten were charged with overseeing India's newfound independence, wanting the nation to stay united as one. However, India was already divided by religion, with Muslim leader Muhammed Ali Jinnah wishing to establish a separate country in the form of Pakistan. The Partition of India was not a desirable option for the British rule, but as the civil unrest grew amongst the people and people began to divide themselves anyway, it became the only option for minimal damage to all nations.

‘X Files’ star Gillian Anderson has also said she’d like to be the first female 007.
Emilia Clarke is currently thrilling fans in the sixth season of ‘Game of Thrones’, but the 29-year-old actress also has her sights set on another franchise. Speaking to the Daily Star, Clarke revealed she’d like to be the first female James Bond.
Emilia Clarke would like to be ‘Jane Bond’.
“I have a lot of unrealised dreams,” Clarke told the newspaper. “I would love to play Jane Bond. My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo Dicaprio. No doubt about it.” There’s no doubt that Clarke has the adventurous streak needed to play 007, as anyone who saw Sunday’s ‘GOT’ could attest to.
Anderson was initially offered just half of what Duchovny was, ahead of the first 'X-Files' series in 14 years.
She may have won Emmys and Golden Globes for her performances as Dana Scully in ‘The X-Files’, but Gillian Anderson apparently had to stand her ground and insist on equal pay with her co-star David Duchovny for the series’ imminent return.
47 year old Anderson reportedly had to battle to secure pay parity with 55 year old Duchovny, according to an article in the Daily Mirror. ‘The Fall’ actress, said to be worth £17 million, was initially offered only half of what Duchovny was for the first ‘X-Files’ series in 14 years.
It’s a significant victory financially as well as symbolically, as Duchovny was offered between £155,000 and £172,000 per episode for the comeback tenth series, according to some reports.
The ‘X-Files’ returns to our screens next month, but our favourite FBI agents are dealing with some relationship difficulties.
It’s been 13 years since Mulder and Scully were on the small screen and eight years since the last ‘X-Files’ movie, so some things are bound to have changed. The new series, which airs on Fox next month, will pick up where 2008’s I Want To Believe left off, but sadly something has happened between the two FBI agents.
David Duchovny is returning to ‘The X-Files’ as FBI agent Fox Mulder.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, star David Duchovny revealed that Mulder and Scully split up at some point between the second film and the revival's first hour. "We're not bickering while we're running with our guns out," Duchovny said.
Mulder and Scully will return to our screens for the first time in 13 years in January.
Channel 5 have secured the rights to broadcast the new series of the ‘X-Files’ in the UK, after an intense bidding war. The highly anticipated series see the return of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, after 13 years away from our screens.

“Securing the UK premiere of the hugely anticipated return of 'The X-Files' is a major coup for the channel and will create one of the television events of 2016,” said Ben Frow, director of programmes at Channel 5.

Hey, 'The X-Files' is probably returning.
Iconic sci-fi drama The X-Files could be returning to screens after Fox opened up talks with original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman said at the Television Critics' Association press tour that he was "hopeful" about the outcome.
Gillian Anderson could return for a new season of The X-Files
"We've maintained a good relationship with Chris, David and Gillian. We're very hopeful, but it's hard. The actors are very busy. They have a lot going on. Chris has a lot on his plate, so it's just trying to carve out the time," he said.

This year's selection comprises an eclectic bunch.
Every year, The Academy makes a selection of short films from three separate disciplines: animation, documentary and live action. And while the latter categories are usually filled with hard-hitting, affecting stories, the animation section provides levity.
Mr Hublot is a charming story, beautifully framed in a semi-mechanical world
Firstly, we have ‘Mr. Hublot’ – a semi-mechanical man living in a semi-mechanical world. He’s fully endowed with ODC, though, is a recluse and lives a life of order, but when a robot pet comes into his life, things change; no longer is he comfortably nestled in his comfort zone. This is computer animated short from France/Luxemburg, directed by Laurent Witz & Alexandre Espigares. It’s void of dialogue but says plenty with it’s beautiful aesthetic.

Is an 'X-Files' movie on the cards?
Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny were two of the billboard names on the second day of Comic-Con San Diego, reuniting to discuss the 20th anniversary of their seminal sci-fi show The X-Files. Hundreds of fans squeezed into Ballroom 20 to hear Mulder and Scully talk, though the question on everyone's lips was clear: will there be an X-Files feature film?
Anderson recently found herself back in the spotlight with the success of BBC drama The Fall, and Duchovny hasn't been out of work since the show therefore a new series would be difficult, though a movie would certainly be viable. In fact, Anderson admitted she wouldn't be interested in a return to the small screen, though added, "a film would be great," to woops and cheers in the audience, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
It would be the third movie spin-off, after The X-Files and The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Riseborough gives her best-yet performance as Colette, a young IRA operative who visits London in 1993 and is arrested by MI5 agent Mac (Owen). He offers her a terrible deal she can't refuse: if she wants to avoid prison to raise her son, she'll have to return to Belfast and spy on her mother (Brennan) and activist brothers (Gillen and Gleeson). But when she gets home, she discovers that the IRA boss (Wilmot) knows there's a spy in their midst. Is he talking about her? Or is there another one? And Mac is also a bit nervous when his boss (Anderson) starts acting suspicious.

After a terminated plot to bomb London, she is arrested for the part she played in the scheme. The riveting pilot episode quickly sets the framework for the entire series. FBI Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) works outside of the bureau's mainstream on discarded, unsolved cases regarding paranormal activity called the X-Files. His immediate supervisors think his work is without merit, so they assign a young female agent, Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) to work with Mulder and disprove his wild theories. Mulder believes we are not alone in the universe; Scully believes science holds the key to the unexplained. Their first case together -- teenagers being abducted and killed in Oregon -- raises more questions than answers and leaves Scully with little exculpatory evidence to report back to her superiors.

Director Terrence Davies took a chance casting "The X-Files'" Gillian Anderson as the devastated heroine in his adaptation of "The House of Mirth," Edith Wharton's corset opera of turn-of-the-Century social politics.
But in her first 20 seconds on screen -- speaking in deliciously eloquent dialogue and looking stunning in plumed hats with veils, fur collared dresses, brooches and a parasol -- she erases any and all memory of Agent Scully, the TV alter-ego you probably thought would haunt the actress for the rest of her career.
A drawing room drama about the whispered politics and wily business of marriage in New York high society, the film is about a beautiful young socialite whose life becomes hampered with scandal, in part because she can't reconcile her heart with the fact that she must marry well to maintain her station.
