Edgar Ramirez kisses his ALMA award
Variety had the scoop, writing: “Alcon has been looking for someone to take over the role of Bodhi — played by Patrick Swayze in the ’1991 original — after Butler exited the project over a scheduling conflict, and looks to have found his successor in the “Carlos” star.”

Gerard Butler - Gerard Butler arrives at Los Angeles International (LAX) airport - Los Angeles, California, United States - Monday 17th February 2014
Not everyone is on board with the idea of remaking a cult classic like 'Point Break,' but the movie just got a big win. They may have scored Gerard Butler to take over Patrick Swayze's role.
Gerard Butler has done a lot since playing the daring soldier in 300, and has quickly become a sex symbol around the world. So it's no surprise that he would be taking over a role from another sex symbol. But this is a little different. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Butler playing Bodhi in the surfer film Point Break, a part made famous by Patrick Swayze.
Gerard Butler can pull off the scruffy look
Point Break has become an unlikely cult hit since it came out in 1991, and tells the story of an undercover FBI agent who gets in with the surfing crowd to try to bust a bank-robbing ring. The story has been kept alive, not only by the bros of the world, but by a stage version called Point Break Live."
Blacksmith apprentice Hiccup and his pet dragon Toothless have managed to end the war between the Vikings of Berk and the once predatory dragons after both rescuing each other from death. Now, five years on, instead of dragon fighting the islanders have taken up the new sport of dragon racing, with Hiccup and his classmates Astrid and Snoutlout becoming particularly adept at whizzing through the skies with their new winged friends. During one of their regular explorations, Hiccup and Toothless come across a secret ice cave in which they find a very large crowd of wild dragons alongside the strange and elusive Dragon Rider. Worried that they could be facing another terrible battle, the pair do their best to maintain peace among the fire-breathing beasts and the weapon wielding mankind.

The dinner attracted celebrities from across the UK and around the world.
Kate Hudson and mum Goldie Hawn apparently had a ball at last night’s charity dinner, hosted by the Novak Djokovic foundation. The event, held at London’s Roundhouse theatre attracted a number of A-listers, from Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood and Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy, to actors like Gerard Butler and Jeremy Piven. Even Naomi Campbell and tennis star Boris Becker were in attendance.
Goldie Hawn appeared in an elegant cream and gold gown - not the best for tennis, though.
The most active participants by far, were Hawn and Hudson, however, as sometime throughout the night, the daring actresses decided to hitch up their dresses and head over to the venue’s makeshift tennis court for a quick set, The Sun reports. While Hawn opted to merely hitch up the train of her stunning cream-and-gold dress, Hudson was a bit bolder, not only lifting up the skirts of her Ellie Saab gown, but also ditching the heels for added comfort.

Despite a number of exhilarating surfing sequences, the interesting true story of surf legend Jay Moriarty is transformed into another dull Hollywood biopic. Painfully family-friendly, it's all so relentlessly smiley and sun-kissed that we wonder where the real story and characters are amid the sticky schmaltz. Even so, it's so beautifully shot that it holds our attention, especially when the cameras are riding the waves.
By the time he was 9 years old in 1987, Jay (Timberline) was already an expert on the tides in his home town of Santa Cruz, California. Watching the surfers every day, he longs to get out there himself. His mother (Shue) is a sleepy alcoholic and he never knew his father, so he adopts salty old surfer Frosty (Butler) as a mentor, even though he's not sure he wants the job. Especially since he's doing everything to avoid his own wife (Spencer) and baby. But Frosty sees Jay's natural talent, and seven years later Jay (now Weston) has the confidence to ask Frosty to teach him how to ride the mavericks, mythical monster waves that only come along every few months.
With its absent father and drunken mother, the script never feels like more than an after-school special, complete with a bat-wielding bully (Handley) and a surf babe (Rambin) who chastely flirts with Jay whenever they meet. Frosty even sets Karate Kid-style pointless tasks for Jay to teach him the bigger picture. But this set-up is so trite that we never have even the slightest doubt about where it's going. And the characters all feel like cliches rather than real people. The three women are especially wasted, but at least they add spark to their roles.

The Croods is witty with sharp characters who are well written, voiced and drawn while Jack the Giant Slayer is smarter and funnier than we expect. We are also rather excited by a first look at Kick Ass 2 as well as a chilling new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness.
This week's big global release is the DreamWorks animated prehistoric comedy-adventure The Croods, led by an all-star vocal cast including Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds. Look for a huge push for must-have spin-off merchandise for this one, as it's packed with cuddly creatures. And hope it does well at the box office, because it would make a great franchise too.
Doing the publicity rounds this week, Gerard Butler has been out promoting his new White House thriller Olympus Has Fallen. Flitting between New York and Los Angeles to appear on every chat show possible, it's no wonder that he was somewhat fed-up by the time he reached David Letterman's Manhattan studio. Of course, the paparazzi caught it on camera as he lost his patience with a fan trying to get multiple autographs. But he manages to recovers his usual charm.
'300' star Gerard Butler signs autographs and poses for photos for press and with fans as he arrives for his appearance on 'The Late Show With David Letterman' in New York. One fan keeps insisting on getting more autographs from the star.
It's been a rough week for Justin Bieber, though arguably a tougher couple of days for Ashton Kutcher, Jay-Z and company, who found their bank details leaked all over the internet.
Bieber Blues: What is happening to Justin Bieber? The former loveable scamp appears to have become a target for the tabloids, especially the British ones. He endured a torrid time in London before cancelling a show in Portugal, apparently owing to poor ticket sales. Is this a crisis?
Credit Check: Ever wondered how much Ashton Kutcher has in the bank? How about Jay-Z, Mel Gibson, Hillary Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger or even Joe Biden. Well, one hacker - seemingly based in Russia - has posted the financial details of the world's biggest stars onto a hastily made website. Some of the numbers are big. Huge, in fact.
Brandi Glanville's sexual liaison with Gerard Butler confirmed by the actor, although he had no idea who the reality star was.
Brandi Glanville is not necessarily a name that sticks with you, something that is especially true when the person trying to recall her name is Scottish actor Gerard Butler, who admitted that he had slept with the reality star before, he just couldn't remember her name afterwards. Butler confirmed that the pair got down to business during Howard Stern's Sirius XM show last night (March 11), saying that the liaison happened over 'one afternoon,' rather than the week-long love fest described by Glanville during the Jan. 24 episode of Watch What Happens Live.
Apparently, Butler became aware that his run-in with the Real Housewives of Beverley Hills star was common knowledge when a paparazzo reportedly told him 'Brandi Glanville says you're great in bed.' Butler then responded by asking 'who's Brandi Glanville?' (he isn't the only person asking this in the world we're sure) because apparently the hunky Scot never found out Brandi's surname nor did he know she was famous in the first place, nor did he know that she 'was going to f--king tell people about it!'
Gerard Butler admits he slept with Brandi Glanville, but couldn't remember her name!
Gerard Butler has admitting to hooking up with 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star Brandi Glanville, but says he forgot her name. The actor, star of Olympus Has Fallen, confirmed the tryst on The Howard Stern Show on Monday, saying, "It was a one-afternooner, but it was fun.She is wild."
Glanville, 40, made the whole thing sound like a much bigger deal when she went public during the January 24 episode of 'Watch What Happens Live' saying she and Butler "had a little week of fun" and giving him an "11" out of ten rating. The 300 star was later informed of the comments by a paparazzo, who said, "Brandi Glanville says you're great in bed." Gerard's response? "Who's Brandi Glanville?" Ouch.
The actor recalled the incident to Stern, "And you know what I said: 'Who's Brandi Glanville?" Butler laughed, "Because one, I didn't know her last name and two, I didn't know she was a celebrity and I didn't know she was going to f--king tell people about it!" Once the actor figured out who she was, he called Glanville up, "I said one, 'I'm not very happy you did that because there are certain things you keep a little private.' And two, 'I'm sorry I said I didn't know who you were!"

It’s become the case that as sure as night follows day, so the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show will run a bang up program post-Oscars awards show.
The show followed the immediate aftermath of the 2013 Oscars, which saw the likes of Argo and Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lawrence, Ang Li and Bradley Cooper walk off with the main honors, and Kimmel was once again quick to mock the Hollywood film industry with a show brimming with satire. MTV reports that Kimmel opened with a lively monologue which saw him throw barbs at E!’s Ryan Seacrest, saying that he “took home the award for Best Animated Short” as well as poke fun at John Travolta, who’d struggled to pronounce film name Les Miserables at the event itself.
Then there was the sequel to Movie the Movie, the fake movie trailer that has since gone on to become a Youtube favorite after its debut at last year’s Oscar post-show. The sequel was called Move the Movie V2 and switched between a multiple of genres and featured the likes of Rachel Weisz and Armie Hammer which most notably mocked The Twilight Saga. A zombie apocalypse meanwhile takes care of the likes of Jude Law, whilst Gerard Butler also appears for a cameo. Yet inspite of the undoubted hi-jinks, there was something lacking in Kimmel’s show last night, and it wasn’t his fault – more over it just seemed that the material he had to work with, the Oscars themselves, was a little dull this year.
Being Valentine's Day week, cinemas are flooded with romantic movies like the new teen franchise-launcher Beautiful Creatures. US audiences can also weep their way through the new Nicholas Sparks drama Safe Haven, while in the UK couples instead can laugh at Judd Apatow's epic rom-com This Is 40 and the clunky British farce Run For Your Wife. And for alternative viewing, there's the ultimate date movie A Good Day to Die Hard, Bruce Willis' fifth instalment in the crashing, exploding franchise.
And this kind of action dominates the week's new selection of trailers, starting with the very explosive-looking Olympus Has Fallen, starring Gerard Butler as a Secret Service agent trying to retake the White House after a terrorist invasion. The muscly cast includes Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo. It opens in March.
President of the United States Benjamin Asher has had enough trauma while being in office, and things are about to get a whole lot worse. What with the current conflicts between the States and North Korea, there is a known danger that a war could erupt between the two countries; however, Asher had little to suspect when he welcomed a South Korean ministerial aide into the White House. In a terrifying turn of events, he is kidnapped by the aide who reveals himself to be Kang, a North Korean terrorist with little interest in negotiations. Trapped in the building as it becomes under siege by Kang's cohorts is Mike Banning; a former Secret Service agent who was discredited after making a mistake at the expense of a life while acting as a Presidential guard. Despite his being shunned from the government for his errors, with his insider knowledge he becomes the only hope they have of rescuing the President from a grisly fate.

A collection of random shorts that focus mainly on idiotic male behaviour, this portmanteau comedy is only occasionally amusing, never making anything of its astonishing cast. Frankly, we spend most of the time wondering how the filmmakers lured these A-listers to appear in these pointless, nasty little films. And while the premises have potential, not a single one has a decent punchline.
As a prank, two teens make up a banned online film called Movie 43. While their brainly little brother searches for it, he runs across a series of clips that mainly focus on awkward vulgarity between the sexes. Bitter exes (Culkin and Stone) have a rude exchange that's broadcast on a supermarket sound system. Pratt is shocked when his girlfriend (Faris) asks him to "poop" on her, and agrees because he loves her. Parents (Watts and Schreiber) homeschool their teen son (White) with the goal of showing him how excruciating life will be. Two pals (Scott and Knoxville) kidnap a leprechaun (Butler) who's reluctant to give them his gold. And a 1950s basketball coach (Howard) tries to convince his players that they're winners because they're black.
Others are dating scenarios: Winslet goes on a blind date with a guy (Jackman) who has testicles on his neck; Berry and Merchant play an increasingly deranged game of Truth or Dare in a Mexican restaurant; a pre-teen (Bennett) can't cope when his young date (Moretz) has her first period; Batman (Sudeikis) messes up Robin's (Long) attempt at speed-dating; Banks struggles to cope with her new boyfriend's (Duhamel) obsessive cartoon cat. There are also a few random advert spoofs, including one for the naked-woman shaped iBabe, which leads to trouble for the company CEO (Gere).

If you were hoping for a romantic comedy with a harmless storyline, romance and inoffensive jokes, the here's a warning: read no further. 'Movie 43' is one of the most cringe-worthy and uncensored taboo-filled flicks to be released in the history of comedy. Here you will see several interlinked stories with characters' lives surrounding unusual proposals, interrupting blind kids' parties, bad parenting, teenage menstruation, a confused and slightly racist basketball coach, innovative business ideas and the kidnapping of a violent leprechaun. Once you see this movie it is unlikely you will find a subject that offends you ever again.
With twelve different comedy genius directors including Peter Farrelly ('Dumb & Dumber', 'There's Something About Mary', 'Shallow Hal'), Steve Carr ('Daddy Day Care', 'Dr Dolittle 2'), Steven Brill ('Little Nicky') and Brett Ratner ('Rush Hour') to name but a few and eight different writers, this jaw-droppingly crude and often obscene movie features a diverse star-studded cast, both British and American, who have banded together to shock you in the most hilarious ways you can think of. Whatever kind of comedy you're into, 'Movie 43' probably has something in it for everyone and it is set to hit the big screen on February 1st 2012.
