George Michael Reportedly Checked Into 'Electric Shock' Rehab Centre In 2015

George Michael

The late George Michael reportedly went in secret to a £70,000 per week rehab clinic based around ‘electric shock’ treatment in Switzerland nearly two years ago, in what is said to have been a last-ditch attempt to win his battle with addiction.

An article by The Mirror on Thursday (January 5th) suggested that the singer, who died on December 25th, had undergone treatment back in 2015 at the Kusnacht Practice near Lake Zurich in Switzerland, which treats its patients with electric shock therapy and is said to be the most expensive rehab centre in the world.

At the time he checked in, Michael’s representatives apparently explained away his absence by saying the singer was on an “extensive break”.

George Michael is apparently still raking in millions despite currently being in rehab seeking effective treatment for addiction in Switzerland, a new report suggests.

Though the former Wham! Singer and multi-platinum seller hasn’t released an album since early last year, he’s still earning a great deal of money through sales and royalties, even though he’s been holed up in the sanctuary of one of the most expensive rehab centres in the world, the Kusnacht Practice in Zurich, since the summer.

An unnamed source close to the 52 year old singer told The Sun: “It’s quite incredible George is still making millions even though he has not been working.”

The Chequered Past Of George Michael

George Michael

George Michael may be worth an estimated £90 million, but money can’t solve all your problems. The singer was in hospital last month after allegedly collapsing at his north London home on Thursday May 22. After spending four hours in his home, paramedics took Michael to the hospital for emergency treatment. He was discharged that weekend and said to be “well and resting.”

George Michael troubles George Michael has suffered a string of personal problems

Despite achieving critical acclaim throughout his career and earning £48.5 million from touring alone between 2006-2008, the singer has suffered his fair share of difficulties. Wham! may have been one of the biggest bands of the 1980s, but Michael suffered a string of sadnesses in his personal life. After finally coming to terms personally with his sexuality in the 90s, he began a relationship with Brazilian designer, Anselmo Feleppa. The couple were together for six months before Feleppa discovered that he was HIV positive. Michael later spoke about the shocking situation, “It was terrifying news. I thought I could have the disease too. I couldn’t go through it with my family because I didn’t know how to share it with them - they didn’t even know I was gay.” 2 years later Feleppa died of a brain haemorrhage related to AIDS.

Seatbelt-Less George Michael Broke Law But Won't Be Charged

George Michael Wham

The police investigation into the events that lead to George Michael's near-fatal accident on the M1 motorway has concluded: "no further action will be taken" after witnesses' statements were taken.

The 49 year-old singer, who wasn't driving the car, fell out of the passenger door of a silver Range Rover driving at 70mph on the M1 motorway during rush hour traffic on May 16th this year. The alarming accident was reportedly due to the star, now a successful solo artist, "just trying to shut the door" instead of jumping, as originally rumoured.

Michael, born Georgios Kyriacos Panagiòtou, wasn't wearing a seatbelt - which is against the law and can incur a fine of up to £500 - yet the former Wham! hitmaker will not face any fines or be charged, according to The Mirror. After statements from the driver and another passenger in the car, Hertfordshire Police decided that it was against "public interest" to prosecute Michael.

George Michael Discharged From Hospital As He Recovers From M1 Accident

George Michael

George Michael has now finally been discharged from hospital following his harrowing car accident on the M1 motorway in Hertfordshire, England.

The 'Faith' singer suffered a nasty head injury and a bad case of shock after falling from the passenger side of a Range Rover which left him lying in the road before a fellow driver rushed to his aid. He was later airlifted to hospital. A statement on his website read, 'We can confirm that George Michael has been discharged from hospital and continues to rest and recuperate. He is well and thanks everyone for all the messages of support.'

Katherine Fox, a passer-by who approached the injured singer, told the BBC she 'saw a body lying in the road' and instinctively went into 'caring mode'. However, she initially did not know it was the former Wham! frontman she was reassuring until she discovered an article online. 'He had a deep cut above his left eyebrow which was really bleeding down his face into his teeth', she explained. 'Even if I had known who it was, I probably wouldn't have recognised him.' Despite Michael's website describing his injured as 'superficial', he was forced to remain in hospital for eleven days.

George Michael Kept Under Observation After Near Death Experience

George Michael

You can pretty much guarantee that no one sitting on the M1, on Thursday afternoon (May 16) would have attributed the traffic jam to George Michael falling out of his car at 70mph. But, that’s exactly what happened, and the WHAM star has been kept in hospital.

He was found on the road by paramedics at the scene of the accident after tumbling from his range rover ON THE MOTORWAY. His spokeswoman said: "Following the traffic accident on Thursday, we can confirm that he is still in hospital. We are keen to stress it's purely as a precaution for observation.” Despite the seriousness of the accident, Michael is said to only have suffered minor injuries, which is somewhat of a miracle. "He did suffer a couple of bumps and bruises to the head and that's why they are keeping him in - to keep an eye on him. He is doing better. He is making good progress and is looking forward to getting out." What the spokesperson should address is exactly how exactly George Michael is alive and not the opposite: dead.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a bit of George – his performance in Extras was funny – but if you fall out of a car on the motorway, at 70 miles-per-hour, you should be dead. Not morally, geometrically. Anyway, we’re glad he survived this ordeal, and we wish him the best in his recovery. Piece of advice: stay in the car until it’s completely stopped.

George Michael’s Car Accident Explained – Singer Fell From Speeding Car

George Michael

When George Michael’s car accident was reported, and subsequently passed off as "superficial cuts and bruises" by his publicist Connie Filipello, no one quite knew the seriousness of the incident, until now.

Katherine Fox, 23, an eyewitness, says that Michael fell from his Range Rover on the M1. “He was lucky he didn’t die,” she explained. "There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth,” added Fox. "He was breathing and conscious but in shock." Katherine was driving along the busy motorway when all of a sudden; George Michael fell from his car and onto the road. “I thought someone had run across the road and been hit. I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn’t shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph. George was airlifted to hospital on Thursday from the scene. Hours later his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, speaking at their North London home, said: “I’ve spoken to him and he’s good."

George Michael Fell Out Of Moving Vehicle Prior To Recent Crash

George Michael

Remember last weeks story that George Michael had gotten involved in a car accident on the M1 but managed to survive without any major injuries? Well it turns out Michael wasn't just in a near miss, but he practically stared death in the face as he fell from the car at speeds of around 70 mph, straight into the path of a swarm of oncoming vehicles.

Apparently, the 49-year-old singer was sitting in the passenger side of the car and was attempting to close his door properly, only to end up tumbling out of the Range Rover and into the fast lane of the M1 near St Albans, Hertfordshire. According to The Sun, a female driver was in the adjoining lane when the singer fell out and very nearly ran over him, telling the paper on Monday (May 20) how he was “lucky he didn’t die” as a number if vehicles swerved around and narrowly missed him.

The woman in question, 23-year-old Mini driver Katherine Fox, told the paper of how she was forced to perform an emergency stop and then swerve into the road so that her car could shield the singer as he lay in the middle of the road in a blood-soaked daze. She went on to say: “There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth. He was breathing and conscious but in shock.

George Michael Released From Hospital After Crash – “I Spoke To Him And He Is Good” Confirms Boyfriend

George Michael

George Michael has been released from hospital following a car crash. His long-term boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, allayed fears that for former Wham! Star was seriously injured, confirming that he’s “good”.

“Of course I was worried, but I spoke to him and he is good,” said the 39-year-old. “He suffered a few bruises but there is nothing to worry about.” At the time of the crash, ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “A man who we believe to be in his 40s sustained a head injury and following treatment, stabilisation and immobilisation by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to hospital for further care.” Michael flying to hospital sparked rumours that he was in a bad way, so the news that he has been released from hospital will be a relief to his fans. “I have no idea what happened,” added Fawaz. A spokesman for the police force said: “The exact circumstances of what happened are unclear at this time and until further investigations have been carried out, it would be inappropriate for us to comment.”

A spokeswoman for the singer, who has recently been suffering from various illnesses, which forced him out of some live dates, had said: “George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident, no third party was involved. He is being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is fine. We have no further comment at this time."

George Michael Cancels Australian Tour Dates Citing "Anxiety"

George Michael

George Michael has cancelled forthcoming tour dates in Australia, citing anxiety brought on by his battle with pneumonia last year as the reason why he has had to pull the shows. Michael will still be completing his forthcoming live commitments in the UK and Europe, but his tour down under that was supposed to start at the beginning of November is now no longer.

"I have ... announced the cancellation of the shows in Australia which breaks my heart," Michael said in a statement."Since last year's illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience." Continuing, he added "They recommended complete rest ... but I'm afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself."

Michael will seek treatment upon completion of his European shows, and said "I was wrong to think I could work my way through the major anxiety that has plagued me since I left Austria last December. All that's left for me to do is apologise to my wonderful Australian fan base and to promise faithfully that as soon as I completed these shows here in the UK, I will receive the treatment which is so long overdue."

George Michael Cancels Australian Leg Of His Tour Due To “Major Anxiety” After Struggle With Pneumonia

George Michael Wham

In the aftermath of his life-threatening condition of pneumonia late last year, George Michael has been forced, by his mental ill-health, to cancel the final leg of his worldwide tour in Australia.

Although Michael, ex-front man of Wham!, will perform at all the dates set for the UK over the next two weeks, beginning with tonight's concert at the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena, South Yorkshire, he feels unable to continue to Australia for the six dates he was meant to perform there in November and December this year. All fans that have bought tickets will automatically have their ticket price reimbursed by October 12th.

Michael cites the cause of his cancellation to “major anxiety” after doctors spent three weeks trying to keep him alive in Austria having contracted pneumonia in late 2011. The remainder of his Symphonica tour was postponed until this year.

George Michael Cancels Australian Leg Of World Tour

George Michael

George Michael has pulled out of the Australian leg of his 'Symphonica' tour, detailing to his fans that the reason he has been forced to cancel the gigs is due to the 'major anxiety' he still feels regarding his recent bout with pneumonia.

George, who performed during the closing ceremony of the Olympics, issued a statement on his own website detailing that the shows he was scheduled to play throughout November and the start of December have had to be cancelled, something that "breaks [his] heart" to do. The announcement on his site also explains that anyone who has purchased tickets for the cancelled shows will receive a full refund.

George Michael is also set to perform nine different concerts in Britain over October, after completing a successful European leg of the tour over the summer. He explains in his fan address that once his leg of shows in the UK are over he will receive "long overdue" treatment for his symptoms.
