British Singer/songwriter George Ezra Quit Booze After His Heavy-partying Lifestyle Pushed Him To The Point Of Exhaustion.
The Budapest hitmaker was forced to cancel gigs in England and Scotland under doctors' orders in February (15) which led to his detox.
His last alcohol-soaked session was at London's BRIT Awards in February (15), although he was pleased he was not caught on camera, after fellow U.K. stars Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran were photographed looking worse for wear while leaving after-parties.
Ezra tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "I had to pull two shows in the U.K. so I didn't drink for four weeks. I realised I'd been drinking for 18 months. I had to stop it, I couldn't keep it up. I had to chill out. I should have waved my white flag two weeks before The BRITs. It got to the point that even if I wanted to carry on, I couldn't. I was exhausted. I saw photos of other people leaving parties and was glad I wasn't there. That's why I went to my mate's pub instead. That's the way to do it."
Ezra launched his career Stateside by performing on hit U.S. TV show Saturday Night Live over the weekend (28-29Mar15).
