Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, premiered at the Venice Film festival last night (Wednesday 28th August).
Gravity opened the 70th Venice Film Festival yesterday (28th August). The film's two actors, George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, were there on the red carpet to see their efforts at the prestigious festival.

Sandra Bullock plays a medical engineer sent into space with astronaut veteran George Clooney. With little experience in space, the engineer, Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock), is reliant on Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). From the trailer and IMDB description, Bullock is reliant on Clooney when they are caught in debris and forced to survive in space. Amazingly the drama unfolds with just two actors supported by the occasional NASA voice.
There may have only been two actors involved in the production but the crew more than made up for this as hundreds contributed to the film. This is largely due to the nature of the film which, as it is set in space, is heavily reliant on graphics and special effects. This included the creation of new ways of creating the look of the actors being in permanent zero gravity.

The drama has been directed by Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron, whose other credits include Children of Men and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Gravity is a family effort, as Cuaron wrote the film with his son Jonas Cuaron.
Other films which are due to premiere at the Venice Film Festival this week include Joe starring Nicholas Cage; Child of God directed and starring James Franco; and Philomena, starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan.
Gravity is due to be released in US cinemas on October 4th whilst UK cinema-goers will have to wait until November 8th.
