Clooney was awarded the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award, which was presented to the Oscar winner by his close pals Julianna Margulies and Don Cheadle, and during his acceptance speech the 53-year-old actor made sure he gave thanks to his beautiful wife.

"In a town and in an industry where it is so easy to lose touch of who you are and what really matters, he has never been anything but real," Margulies told the audience at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

A quick montage featuring some of Clooney's films, including 'Gravity,' 'The Descendants' and 'Ocean's Eleven,' was then played before he took to the stage.

"I can't tell you what an honor it is to be up here with Jules and Don. I've spent such a long part of my life and career with them and it's been incredible to watch them grow," he began.

After thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press for "keeping small films alive,' the thesp gave a nod to all his fellow stars in the room. "You get to do what you've always dreamed to do and be celebrated...I have no idea what hardware Robin Williams took home but I sure remember "carpe diem."

"So congratulations to all of you for having a good year. I've had a pretty good year myself and I'm not just referring to the fabulous reviews of The Monuments Men," he jokingly said before turning his attention to Amal. "It's a humbling thing to find someone you love. Even better if you've been waiting your whole life...Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn't be prouder to be your husband," he gushed as his gorgeous wife looked lovingly from her seat.
