Gary Barlow's Embarrassed His Hair Makes More 'noise' Than His Music

Gary Barlow

Gary Barlow is embarrassed his hair care has made more ''noise'' than the release of his music.

The 46-year-old singer - who is the lead vocalist in the boy band Take that - has recently admitted to not washing his locks since 1995, and the star has admitted he is shocked that news has made bigger headlines than when he releases records or stars in a new show.

The 'Let It Shine' judge told the Metro newspaper: ''I think I've got it wrong. I found a clip from 1995 and, actually, I haven't washed it since then. I'd been in LA and we has a different make-up artist who put really waxy stuff in my hair and I just couldn't get it clean.

Gary Barlow's 'Let It Shine' Drops Behind 'The Voice' In Second Week Ratings

Gary Barlow Take That

Having been a ratings winner in its first week, Gary Barlow’s new BBC talent show ‘Let It Shine’ has reportedly slumped behind its ITV rival ‘The Voice UK’ in the viewing figures for its second episode last weekend.

The Sun reported that, having pulled in 6.8 million viewers for its launch the previous weekend, Saturday night’s show (January 14th) lost more than a million viewers to clock figures of 5.7 million. Still impressive, but it was also said to be less than ‘The Voice’ over on the other channel, a crucial aspect.

“It’s the first time that people at home have been able to choose which show they wanted to watch – and more people have gone with ‘The Voice’,” a source told the tabloid over the weekend.

Barlow's back

Since I Saw You Last will arrive in stores on 25 November, picking up where Barlow left off in 1999 when he released Twelve Months, Eleven Days to limited success. The failure of his last album, caused in part due to his vilification in the media thanks to recent the collapse of Take That, caused him to retreat from he limelight at the turn of the century, leaving his career in limbo. With his career now at an all-time high, with an OBE and renewed success and interest to call his own, we'd hope that Since I Saw You Last doesn't cause another career-halting backlash for the singer and songwriter.

Not Everyone Is Convinced That Kylie Minogue Will Be A Successful Judge On 'The Voice'

Kylie Minogue remains one of the biggest names in pop music today, with a back catalogue that most modern day pop starlets could only dream of for their future output. With this in mind, her appointment as a judge on the upcoming season of the BBC's The Voice looks as though it could be the coup of the TV talent shows, however not everyone is convinced that she'll make a convincing judge on the show.

Kylie Minogue
Kylie has been brought in to add some style to the talent show

Her credentials as a pop artist need no justifying, however her credentials as a presence on television will be seriously tested when she begins her new job sitting alongside Tom Jones, Will.i.am and whoever is brought in to replace the departing Danny O'Donoghue. She is my all means a much more popular entertainer compared to Jessie, and probably more so than some of the men that she is joining, but she enters the BBC series as an inexperienced TV presenter and may struggle to assert any kind of personality and endear herself to the audience. Either that, or she'll be a massive success and be loved by all.

Sharon Osbourne Replaces Tulisa Contostavlos For A Cool £1.8 Million

Sharon Osbourne The X Factor Simon Cowell Gary Barlow Nicole Scherzinger

Sharon Osbourne has agreed to return to the X-Factor to replace Tulisa Contostavlos in a £1.8 million deal. The reality star agreed terms in London this week and will jet in before the first audition in Glasgow on June 4, 2013. An official announcement is to be made imminently, though it is has been widely reported that Sharon has been in talks with ITV bosses for several months.

A source told The Sun, "Sharon's been through hell lately, so x factor was not front of mind. But she loves the show and missed it. Things with Ozzy have calmed down but they're a long way off being sorted." Simon Cowell has decided that Sharon is the right woman to revamp the show after it lost over three million viewers last time out. The music guru had also approached Oasis founder Noel Gallagher to join the judging panel - a request that he rejected.

Osbourne will earn £1.5 million in cash and £300,000 in first class flights between the UK and Los Angeles, with hotels, wardrobe and make-up costs also thrown in. She initially quit the panel in 2008 following a reported bust-up with Dannii Minogue. She will be joined by Gary Barlow (who is still thrashing out a new deal also worth £1.5 million) and Louis Walsh (who is presumably happy to accept anything). Nicole Scherzinger could return, though Mel B is reportedly on stand-by should the former Pussycat Doll decide to look for work elsewhere.

X-Factor Bosses Tell Noel Gallagher To "Name His Price" For Judging Spot

Noel Gallagher Simon Cowell The X Factor Gary Barlow Nicole Scherzinger Sharon Osbourne

X-Factor producers have officially approached Noel Gallagher for the second time with an offer to become a judge on the ITV talent show. The former Oasis guitarist, 45, has been at the top of Simon Cowell's wish list for a number of years, though Noel's management company Ignition have received the biggest offer yet from the Syco Music mogul, thought to be, essentially, a blank cheque.

A source told The Sun last night, "Simon is determined to get Noel on board. He sees him as his natural replacement as the real alpha male on the panel. He thinks Noel would be ideal, with his music knowledge, straight-talking and rapier wit." Cowell made a seven-figure offer to the rocker last year, though was knocked back as Gallagher prepared to release his No.1 album. Though Noel has made no secret of his openness to offers should the money be right, it may be his young daughter who emerges as the key to discussions. The source added, "Noel's daughter Anais is a huge fan of One Direction and X Factor, so she'll be nagging him to say yes."

The guitarist appears to have the talents required to judge and mentor singing hopefuls. During an interview with Real Radio Yorkshire in 2011, Gallagher said, "I don't mind The X Factor.I've got an 11-year-old daughter; she's obsessed with it as all 11-year-old girls are. I was watching it on Saturday actually, and I managed to pick everybody they put through to the live finals." He also spoke of being approached by Cowell, "I know him and he was going 'we want you to be on it'" Noel said, "I was going 'you don't really want me on it - I won't put anyone through, and I can't have people round my house crying in the kitchen when I don't put them through because they'll frighten the cat."

Will X Factor Execs Tempt Robbie Williams To Join Gary Barlow On Judging Panel?

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Take That

Will Robbie Williams join Take That band mate Gary Barlow and hop onto the judging panel on X Factor? The Sun have reported that this could very well be the case, with the ‘Angels’ singer looking to join the TV talent show to spice things up a little bit. Known as the cheeky member of the boy band, Robbie’s apparently the top choice for being brought in to bring back the excitement that many felt was missing from last year’s series of the show.

A source told The Sun “This is the dream team. We have been looking at the show and thinking the unthinkable. Robbie is exactly the right person for the show — but we don’t want to lose Gary to get him. We want them both.” There’s just one problem though and it isn’t the fact that Gary and Robbie haven’t exactly always seen eye to eye. “Robbie’s people are saying he’s too busy to do the show.” Undeterred, the show’s sources said they’re not giving up on their dream judge just yet. “we worked around Gary when he first joined the panel,” the source explained, adding “he was touring with Take That and it was fine. We know Robbie loves the show and he and Gary have a great friendship and rivalry — there will be fireworks for sure.

Would the addition of another man on the panel spell the end for Louis Walsh? Producers are reportedly “relaxed” about having three men on the panel, with Nicole Scherzinger expected to take up the fourth spot. Watch this space!

If you'd managed to avoid all news sources, Facebook, Twitter, and the television until now, you'll be overjoyed to learn that the bearded singer/songwriter James Arthur won x factor. Jahmene Douglas came a close second while Christopher Maloney was booted out on Saturday night.

James Arthur has said that he'll be running things creatively when it comes to making his album. He told the Daily Mirror, "I will insist I have total control. I've been given creative control throughout and I've been lucky to have my mentor Nicole Scherzinger as an ally who has helped me out when I have strongly disagreed with stuff." Adding, "I have a feeling I will be able to call the shots. They don't mess with me, I'm a badass, me."

Likewise, the 21 year old runner up, Jahmene, is set to sign a deal with Simon Cowell as well, according to the Metro. Dermot O'Leary And Nicole Scherzinger Grab A Pint At Corrie's Rovers Return Before X Factor Final

The X Factor Dermot O'Leary Nicole Scherzinger James Arthur Jahmene Douglas Gary Barlow Louis Walsh Rihanna One Direction

It looks like x factor host Dermot O'Leary and co-judge Nicole Scherzinger showed up to the wrong set earlier this week, as the pair winded up pulling pints at Coronation Street's world famous Rovers Return pub, as opposed to getting ready for tonights X Factor grand finale.

Whilst everyone else involved in tonight's (Dec 8) live final, O'Leary and his Pussycat Doll sidekick found time to sneak away from final of the ninth X Factor series to visit one of Manchester's most famous pubs. Nicole tweeted a picture of the two on Thursday (Nov 6) behind the bar at the Rovers with the pints they pulled, with the cheeky caption "Oh... Just another day at the office!" - but judging by the standard of their pints, its probably best if they stick to their day jobs.

After the little excursion though it was time to get back to work, with Dermot heading back down to the studio to check out the rehearsals and Nicole getting ready for a few rehearsals of her own. As was the case last year, the final three acts will perform a duet with their mentor as part of their farewell performance, meaning Nicole will be singing twice with her pupils James Arthur and Jahmene Douglas, whilst top dog judge Gary Barlow will be taking to the stage to sing with Christopher Maloney. Next year, we really do hope that one of Louis' lot make it to the final to see how he does.

X Factor Christopher Maloney Makes Gary Barlow Proud

The X Factor Gary Barlow

As the year's biggest talent show comes to a close, The X Factor contestants having been speaking about their experience of the competition. Christopher Maloney has earned the show a great deal of criticism and controversy, with many people- including the judges and fellow contestants- being baffled by his continued place in the competition.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Maloney said that he's "proud of how [he's] handled the stick." Adding, "This is all I ever wanted to do and regardless of what criticism I get I've always come back fighting the next week. I've tried to take on board what everyone has said, even if it is tough. I do take it all to heart."

His mentor, Take That's Gary Barlow has also spoken about Maloney's struggle: "He does take it all to heart, it's been tricky to watch him go through that. But he's proved them all wrong and I'm very proud of him. One of the big things as well is how Liverpool get behind their own - that has been heartwarming to see."

Chris Is NOT Getting The Sympathy Vote Say X-Factor Bosses

Simon Cowell Gary Barlow Union J James Arthur The X Factor

The X-Factor is hotting up after Sunday's Quarter final left Chris, Union J, James Arthur and Jahmene Douglas left to battle it following Rylan's exit after singing in the bottom 2.

Simon Cowell's act, Christopher Maloney has allegedly come under some stick, with people saying he's getting the sympathy vote next to the prodigious talents of his competition, but this is something the show's bosses have moved to nullify. "The backlash is working for Christopher," a source told The Sun."The more people say nasty things about him, the more votes he gets. The feeling now is the less said about him the better." Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack said she thought people were voting for the singer. She said: "I think what's happening is people are feeling sorry for him. And that perhaps might be why people are voting -- but people are voting." However, X-Factor bosses reject that appraisal.

Elsewhere, Rylan admitted that judge Gary Barlow has no ill-feelings towards him; "Every week Gary gives me a massive cuddle and tells me how well I've done. He does like me," he explained. "Gary has single-handedly kept me in with the whole 'me and Gary' situation. I have so much love and respect for the man and I look forward to working with him. What happens in that studio stays in the studio and he's been amazing. If the opportunity arose for us to do some work together I think we'd both jump at the chance."

Kate Winslet And Gary Barlow Honoured By The Queen

Kate Winslet Queen Elizabeth II Gary Barlow

Kate Winslet was awarded a CBE by the Queen at Buckingham Palace for her services to drama, the Telegraph reports.

Wearing a stunning Alexander McQueen suit, showing off her curves in an effortlessly elegant manner, Winslet accepted her award from the Queen. Winslet's award is as a Commander of British Excellence (for those of us who didn't know what those three little letters stand for), of the services to drama. Her memorable roles in drama include the BBC's Sense and Sensibility alongside Emma Thompson, as a young Iris Murdoch in the biopic Iris and most memorably, in Titanic, which for many years was the highest grossing movie of all time.

Apparently, according to the Daily Mail, the Queen spoke to Kate: "She told me that she was delighted to be presenting me with my award and then asked whether I liked my job. I told her that I loved it but I love being a mum even more... The Queen said 'Yes, that's the only job which matters.' What a genuinely lovely thing to say! And I couldn't agree with her more."

The X Factor In Disarray As Christopher Maloney Admits Voting For Himself

The X Factor Gary Barlow

The X Factor has found itself at the centre of fixing allegations, of sorts, once again after contestant Christopher Maloney admitting voting for himself. Though Rylan Clark was thought to be this year's "dud contestant", much to Gary Barlow's chagrin, it's actually his own act Christopher that is arguably the most dated singer on this year's show.

Maloney beat the frankly awful Kye Sones in a sing-off last week, though some viewers are unhappy with his constant progression into the latter rounds of the competition. Sones himself spoke of his annoyance at being axed on Sunday (October 4, 2012). Several X Factor crew members told The Mirror that Maloney has been spending thousands voting for himself. One said, "I've seen him dialling and redialling his own number over and over again. It's sad really but he wants it that much that he is spending a fortune." Though there is no rule to stop contestants voting for themselves, one production executive said, "You can't outlaw this sort of behaviour but it leaves a very sour taste. It's against the spirit of the show." Maloney admitted, "I have voted for myself a few times," though insisted, "So has everyone else - I doubt my calls have made much of a difference... if I had more credit on my phone I'd vote more."

Maloney found himself in the live rounds after winning a public 'wildcard' vote. Are you thinking what we're thinking?

Anxiety Mounts As One Direction Suggest 10 Year Hiatus

One Direction Take That Gary Barlow Mark Owen Niall Horan Ed Sheeran

One Direction are looking so far into their future career plans that they are already planning their reunion. The boy band told The Mirror that they want to follow in the footsteps of Take That, by which they mean they want to split up at the height of their career, and then get back together ten years later. And hopefully have a few successful solo careers in that gap. But which one’s going to be Robbie? And who’s going to be Gary. And which poor soul is going to be Mark Owen?

“We want to be like Take That or Gary Barlow – take 10 years out and then come back,” said Niall Horan, on the day that their latest single was unveiled. The new track, ‘Little Things’ was written by Ed Sheeran and Niall reveals that the band were keen to embrace the new acoustic direction that the song offers. “We heard the new song and said, ‘yeah, that’s a cracker, we want it.’” A combination of Ed Sheeran and One Direction is surely going to make sure that the band are onto a winner, so when exactly are they going to decide that they are ‘on top of their game’ and decide to split? Surely they can’t have had enough just yet? Though global domination doesn’t seem to far out of reach for these young singers, who seem to have become millionaires almost over night.

Fans of the band have taken to Twitter to express their disbelief at the suggestion that One Direction might, one day, decide to split up. The user @koatoa pleaded for reassurance, saying “what what what this can't be real?” and @anskudirection, also known as Niallers Princess on the site, said “PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T TRUE!???” No word from the lads just yet on exactly when they plan to start this ten year hiatus.

Robbie Williams To Mentor X Factor Stars (And He's Turning On The Xmas Lights!)

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Rylan Clark

Robbie Williams is to appear as a guest mentor on X Factor this Saturday (October 27, 2012), before performing live on Sunday night's results show. Robbie, 38, acted as Gary Barlow's sidekick in the judges' house stage last year, though Cheryl Cole took over the role this year.

That hasn't stopped the Take That man getting involved on this year's show, and he'll be offering support and advice to contestants including Rylan Clark, Jade Ellis and Ella Henderson this weekend. Robbie has previously expressed his support for Clark, who has divided audiences on this year's show. Actually, he hasn't divided anyone, he's absolutely dreadful - though is getting votes for the comedy factor, clearly. Last week, Williams tweeted, "TEAM RYLAN ALL THE WAY VOTE RYLAN," with Barlow - who walked off the set when Rylan made it through after Week 1 - reacted, "20 years of knowing each other and it's all over in five letters."

Bookmakers are unconvinced that Rylan will be booted out this week, offering around 3/1 on him being given his marching orders. Christopher Maloney is available at similar odds, as is the frankly terrible Kye Sones.

Friction In One Direction? Robbie Williams Reckons There Must Be.

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Take That One Direction

Just when you thought his trouble-making days were over, Robbie Williams is stirring again. Robbie’s boy band days may be well and truly past him, but that doesn’t mean he can’t remember what it’s like working with a group of lads that have been bundled together in the name of entertainment. It’s no secret that Robbie Williams, 38, didn’t always get on with Gary Barlow, 41, during their days in Take That, and Robbie reckons that One Direction probably aren’t the tight unit that they always present themselves as.

I loved Gary and disliked him,” Robbie has said, according to Shortlist Magazine. “I'm sure that in One Direction right now, there's going to be hatred between certain members for certain things - all young and daft stuff.” We’re not sure if Robbie’s got some inside information or whether or not he’s simply basing his opinions on his own experience, but it wouldn’t take a huge stretch of the imagination to consider that the 1D lads aren’t all best mates all of the time. Still, The One Direction boys have only been together since 2010 and if there are any cracks in the band’s united front, they’re doing a very good job of sealing them over.

MK1 X-Factor Phoneline Confusion, Will This Lead To A New Scandal?

Gary Barlow

The X-Factor duo MK1, made up of Charlie and Sim, both from London, were voted out of the competition last night (21st Oct 2012). According to Yahoo, the pair already knew that would be the night they'd be ousted, as the band's Twitter followers told them that the voting line wasn't working. Charlie said "We just couldn't understand what was going on last night, a few hours before our performance we got a lot of tweets from our fans telling us that the voting line for MK1 was frozen and they couldn't vote for us so we were getting really worried."

Speaking to Yahoo Charlie said: "We feel that we performed really well on Saturday. We had a really good performance that probably topped a few of the other acts Saturday night so I feel it was quite unfair that we went home... At the same time it's hard when you leave to not speculate the situation. But having all our fans tweeting saying 'you're phone lines are down, what's wrong with your phone lines no one can get through'- it's a bit like, OK what's going on." Sim continued, "It's just proof in the pudding as well that in previous series when that happened, that act ended up in the bottom two."

The pair have no hard feelings towards other contestants, and are merely confused by the allegations, they'd like either Gary Barlow's act Kye Sones - who stayed over MK1 on Sunday - or James Arthur to win. Charlie's on James' side "I'd like him to win in the spirit of winning but I also know that the winner isn't always the one to get the best deal. So I want him to get the furthest and be the best out of the situation." There are now a few trends on Twitter created by the fans of MK1 including #FIXFIXFIX and #xfactorfix. Neither ITV nor X-Factor representatives have commented on the allegations. Everyone loves a scandal, and it looks like this year's X-Factor wont be able to escape its tradition.

Gary Barlow Back Again, And Again, By Popular Demand As He Adds Extra Date To Tour

Gary Barlow Louis Walsh

Take That's Gary Barlow has extended his solo tour by an extra day, after the initial tickets that went on sale today (19th Oct 2012) sold out in less than an hour. Barlow's solo tour is in aid of his continuous philanthropy and will raise money for, among others, The Prince's Trust and The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, which both support youth concerns.

Tweeting to his followers earlier today the X-Factor judge said "I've heard you're all buying lots of tickets ! I'm adding one extra date now ! Hammersmith Apollo 27th December" and showed appreciation to his fan's loyalty, saying "Thank you so much for showing your support for my live dates ! I promise you a night to remember !" For some reason, he added "We didn't know how strong the demand would be." ...A member of one of the biggest British boy-bands of all time, a judge on one of the most watched television shows on British television, an all round nice guy, and he didn't know how strong the demand would be? It seems we can add modesty and humility to his angelic virtues.

Barlow's shows coincide with the final weeks of the X-Factor, but are all midweek so as not to interrupt the live shows on ITV1. With this, alongside Barlow's reported ongoing feud with Louis Walsh, Gigwise couldn't help but consider the possibility that he'll be leaving the X-Factor at the end of this season. Gary is also set to begin working with the rest of Take That for their seventh album, which is set for release sometime next year.

Rylan Clark On His X-Factor Ousting: I Was So Drunk

The X Factor Rylan Clark Lucy Spraggan Gary Barlow

Rylan Clark gave head judge Gary Barlow a reason to despise him that little more this week, after being chucked out of central London hotel The Corinthia for flashing his behind. Joined by partner in crime Lucy Spraggan, the pair ran amok through the swanky residence before being given their marching orders by managers.

Reflecting on his misdemeanour to Heatworld.com, Clark explained, "Oh god, the hotel were not happy with that kind of press.I'm holed up in a hotel in Wembley for five days. I've got to behave myself," adding, "I can't believe it. I was so drunk, but I said I'd do it and I f*cking did it. The X Factor team warned me not to but they love it really." Rylan has as much chance of winning The X Factor as Matt Cardle has of another No.1 record, though he's firmly established himself as this year's token "crap act that makes it all the way till the end, until audiences get bored." His last performance saw him parade down a catwalk flanked by 'fashion pandas.

Yorkshire-born Ella Henderson is the odds-on favourite to win this year's show. She has been described as the best X Factor vocalist since Leona Lewis.

The X Factor's Rylan Clark And Lucy Spraggan “Kicked Out” Of Posh London Hotel.

Gary Barlow Rylan Clark Lucy Spraggan

After a night out at London's 'G.A.Y.', Lucy Spraggan and Rylan Clark were seen stumbling around in the West End, outside their very posh hotel. With the reputation of the hotel at stake, the pair were kicked out and relegated to a far less impressive establishment not far from their original abode.

Spraggan's behaviour can be somewhat forgiven, not only due to her lovable demeanour, but because those kinds of antics (and many others besides) are what fuelled the song that first made everyone fall for the northern singer-songwriter in her first X-Factor audition. She gave a rendition of her own song 'Last Night' which includes lyrics absolutely apt for the tumultuous night that has been reported nationwide: “Last night I called you a loser, I think that was after flaming sambuca, I shouted at you 'do me a favor' and that's when I fell off the pavement.”

However Rylan's behaviour, like his presence in the show, is far less endearing, and he knows it. “Oh God, the hotel were not happy with that kind of press,” he said, “I’m holed up in a hotel in Wembley for five days. I’ve got to behave myself.” However, he's under the impression that the team at X-Factor are enjoying his actions. "The X Factor team warned me not to but they love it really.” Really? So far Gary Barlow has been fairly scathing of Rylan. Although MTV quotes Rylan saying “To be perfectly honest, Gary ain't really of concern to me in the slightest. Some things I do think he goes a bit far with.”

Rylan Clark And Lucy Spraggan Disciplined For Drunken Debauchery

The X Factor Rylan Clark Lucy Spraggan Louis Walsh Gary Barlow

Are Rylan Clark and Lucy Spraggan taking their time on X Factor seriously?

It certainly didn’t seem that way in the early hours of Monday morning when they were still out partying, according to the Evening Standard. Rylan was at the centre of The X Factor controversy last week when Louis Walsh chose to take the vote to deadlock, when it looked for a moment that he had chosen Carolynne Poole to stay in the contest. Rylan stayed, despite – by his own admission – hardly being the strongest singer in the contest. And he seems to be doing whatever he can to make sure he stays in the headlines until his number’s up on the show (which, if Gary Barlow has anything to do with it, will be very soon indeed).

Neither Rylan nor Lucy seem to be terribly comfortable with the format of the X Factor live shows; Lucy writes her own songs and develops a ‘socially awkward rabbit caught in about a thousand sets of headlights’ when anyone prises her guitar away from her and the camper-than-thou Rylan must surely have exhausted all of his tactics for distracting everyone from the fact that he can’t actually sing. And now, they both seem to be getting all Frankie Coccozza on us. This surely won’t go down well with the X Factor judges.

“Playing Live Is My Favourite Thing!” Solo Tour Takes A Detour To Sheffield City Hall

Gary Barlow

Gary Barlow will be bringing his solo tour to Sheffield City Hall, according to one of his best friends Eliot Kennedy, who is also a singer-songwriting partner for Barlow. Speaking to The Star Kennedy said “Gaz has played Sheffield City Hall as a solo artist and he remembers how lovely that room is.” The hall boasts a capacity of just 2000, which, while being ample for most gigs, is no where near the standard limit for Barlow's shows. He's used to playing sold out arenas of 10,000 fans or more!

“I can tell you, it feels like a living room when you’ve got it full. It’s so intimate. I think that’s what he’s missed from the Take That gigs.” Kennedy, who co-wrote Take That's Everything Changes and Barlow's own 'Sing' for the Jubilee, said about the Sheffield venue. Of Gary, he said; “He’s a musician. He wants to go out and play, sing and have a laugh. There’s talk of me getting on stage with him. We’ll see. I’ll be there of course.”

Barlow's solo tour will be a huge celebration of all that he's achieved in his 20 year career, including “over 50 million record sales, eight number one albums and 14 chart-topping singles” (The Star). The tour will span the country and his performances and song choices will span the length of his career, both with Take That and his solo work. The show at Sheffield City Hall is on November 28th with numerous other shows at Bournemouth’s, Plymouth, Edinburgh, Nottingham, London, Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle, Wolverhampton, Oxford, Liverpool, Blackpool, Cardiff, Dublin and ending the entire thing in Belfast. Tickets go on sale this Friday (19thOct 2012) at 10am.

Ella Henderson Is Bookies Favourite For X Factor After Incredible Performance

The X Factor Ella Henderson Nicole Scherzinger Gary Barlow Louis Walsh

After Saturday's stunning performance of Take That's 'Rule the World', Ella Henderson has shot to the favourite spot by bookies as they cut the odds dramatically which are now 10/11.

The X-Factor stylists seem to have aptly chosen to model Henderson on Lana Del Rey, which suits her look and voice perfectly, but Henderson's performance proved her to have distinctly better voice than the American singer, who shocked and disappointed fans with a poor performance on Saturday Night Live earlier this year. Nicole Scherzinger described her as a 'blessing', Louis said she was the best female singer since Leona Lewis and Gary Barlow said that she sang his song “10 times better than [him]”. High praise indeed.

Ella's version of the song shot to number one in the iTunes download chart, followed by Lucy Spraggan. This positive news surrounding the X-Factor is in distinct contrast to the controversy of Sunday night's elimination, in which Louis Walsh effectively signed the death warrant for Carolynne Pool's time on the show, as he chose to let the decision go to 'deadlock' rather than save the obviously better singer. His choice saved Rylan Clark who the bookies know isn't going to win, with odds at 100/1, and to be honest, even that seems a little generous.

X Factor Death Threats Made Nicole Scherzinger Hide In Dressing Room

Nicole Scherzinger Gary Barlow Rylan Clark The X Factor The X Factor USA

Death threats aimed at X Factor judge, Nicole Scherzinger, caused the former pussycat doll to hide in her dressing room, and the abuse received by act Rylan Clark has brought it all back.

In an exclusive with The Metro, Scherzinger explained: "It breaks my heart. Last year, I had death threats on The X Factor USA. It kind of ruined me. I told them (the producers) I didn't wanna leave my room." And as if that wasn't bad enough, the 34-year old's act on the UK The X Factor, Rylan Clark, has also been the subject of some abuse: "It really frightened and scared me when I got death threats. It upsets me to hear that Rylan had to go through that... to read some of the comments that he has had," explained the 34-year-old pop star. "I didn't know people could conjure up such thoughts... so hateful," she added. "I just have to say a prayer for people like that. It's not positive. These are just ignorant, uneducated people."

Gary Barlow, one of the key judges on the show, is also critical of Clark, but not in the weird, abusive way in which some members of the public have been. He tends to offer constructive criticism, but an increasingly confident Scherzinger is ready to take him on. "It ain't nothing but a chicken wing, I believe in Rylan," she said.

Military Wives Take Home Best Single Award At Classic Brits

Anthony Hopkins Gareth Malone Andrew Lloyd Webber Gary Barlow

The Military Wives took home the single of the year award at the Classic Brit Awards beating the likes of Nessun Dorma and other seminal songs. The choir are led by choirmaster Gareth Malone and are the girlfriends and wives of military men serving Britain abroad. They formed on the BBC show The Choice and released their now award-winning single to raise money for charity; they shocked themselves and the country by managing to take the Christmas number one spot and beating out X Factor 2011 winners Little Mix with sales of over 600,000.

Accepting the award at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Malone called the honour "the candle on the icing of a very large cake". The Wives celebrated at the event by performing their Diamond Jubilee anthem Sing, accompanied by the song's composers Andrew Lloyd Webber and Gary Barlow on pianos.

Other winners at the event included violinist Andrew Rieu, who won his second album of the year award, for And The Waltz Goes On. In a notable turn of events, it also meant that the actor Sir Anthony Hopkins gained a share of the award after composing the title track. Rieu paid tribute by calling him "the greatest actor we now have on the planet", though it was praise played down by Hopkins, who was effusive of the performer he'd collaborated with.

X Factor Favourite Tammy Cartwright Quits To Care For Brother

Gary Barlow

The X Factor star Tammy Cartwright – who many tipped as a potential winner after her powerful rendition of ‘One Night Only’ on Saturday’s show – has pulled out of the competition to care for her brother Gareth, who is struggling with a heroin addiction.

The support worker, whose powerful vocals were lauded by Gary Barlow, told the judges she had never previously pursued a singing career because her brother had “a lot of issues” which took up her time. Cartwright has now decided against going any further in the competition, telling The Sun, “My younger brother Gareth has been on hard drugs for many years and he’s lived with me for most of those years…I made a deal with him — he’d keep off drugs and I would go for it on The X Factor. But he broke his promise just before boot camp. He was in a bad way and having lots of problems.” Unfortunately, Gareth overdosed just days after Tammy decided to give up on her singing dream, though has since recovered and is now five weeks clean. His sister insists, “This is not a sob story — I don’t want that, I love my life. Now we have to look forwards, not backwards…I’ll definitely give X Factor another go next year.”

With Cartwright now out of contention, the bookmakers have young soul singer Jahmene Douglas as the 6/1 favourite to triumph in this year’s contest. His rendition of Etta James’ ‘At Last’ wowed judges in the audition stages, though he’ll have to beat the similarly strong Ella Henderson should he want to go all the way.
