In a huge announcement of forthcoming releases, Warner Bros has bet big on DC Comics-branded movies to follow its marquee release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2015. That movie, starring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, will be followed by The Flash with Ezra Miller, Aquaman starring Jason Momoa and a Wonder Woman movie with Gal Gadot.

Gadot was the surprise choice for the female role in Dawn of Justice though Warners are clearly buoyed by the Israeli actress's performances in the forthcoming movie. Maybe Marvel should take note and finally announce a Black Widow movie with Scarlett Johansson.

So, after Zack Synder's Dawn of Justice, Warners will release David Ayer's Suicide Squad in 2016, Wonder Woman in 2017 and Justice League Part One (with Affleck and Cavill reprising their roles) in 2016. After that comes The Flash, with Ezra Miller, best known for We Need to Talk About Kevin. Aquaman, with Game Of Thrones star Momoa follows in 2018 and Shazam will hit in 2019.

Synder will return to direct the second part of the Justice League story in the same year, while Ray Fisher will reprise his Dawn of Justice character Cyborg in a stand-alone movie set for 2020. A renewed Green Lantern completes Warners' comic-book movie production schedule.

As for other projects, the studio is to produce three new movies taking place in the Harry Potter universe, based on JK Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Warners is also keen to capatalize on the monumental success of The Lego Movie and has green-lit three spin-offs, including The Lego Batman Movie, set for 2016.
