The actress refuses to play the hero again if Ratner is involved.
New reports claim that 'Wonder Woman' lead star Gal Gadot will refuse to play the hero once again if Brett Ratner is involved with the franchise, leaving the future of the DC Extended Universe series up in the air and fans wondering just how matters will play out. Fortunately, Gadot is one of the biggest pulls for the DCEU, so she's operating from a position of power within the industry, rather than being someone who would be easily replaced if Ratner was to remain.
Gal Gadot leads the charge as the titular hero in 'Wonder Woman'
The demands come after multiple women came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Ratner, and after Warner Bros. decided not to renew their first-look deal with his production company RatPac-Dune, he was left taking home a substantial fee.
For now however, a co-financing deal remains in place between Warner Bros. and RatPac-Dune, and Page Six reports that if this isn't something Warner Bros. bring to an end before starting production on 'Wonder Woman 2', she won't return to the titular role. A representative for Warner Bros. has called the story "false", but Page Six are standing by their report. No statement has yet come from Gadot's camp.
Since the accusations of sexual misconduct came to light, Ratner has denied all of the allegations, but released a statement via a representative which said he would be stepping away from all "Warner Bros-related activities."
The statement continued: "I don't want to have any possible negative impact to the studio until these personal issues are resolved."
A spokesman for Warner Bros. also claimed that the studio would be "reviewing the situation" before coming to any final decisions regarding their future work alongside Ratner.
Whether or not these reports about Gadot's positioning are taken into consideration remains to be seen, but we imagine she has Warner Bros. in a vice grip following the huge success of the first 'Wonder Woman' flick.
