Early Life and Background:

Frankie Bridge was born to Kevin and Viv Sandford. She developed an early interest in performing arts, attending dance lessons from the age of three at her local community centre. Inspired by future bandmate Rochelle Humes, she auditioned for Colins Performing Arts School, where she honed her skills in dance and musical arts. 

 

Music Career:

In 2001, at the age of 12, Bridge successfully auditioned for Simon Fuller’s reality television competition S Club Search, leading to her inclusion in the pop group S Club Juniors. The group, later renamed S Club 8, released seven singles and two albums, achieving significant success in the UK. They also starred in their own children’s musical television programme, I Dream, where Bridge played a main role and released the duet single “Dreaming” with fellow member Calvin Goldspink. 

In 2007, Bridge joined the girl group The Saturdays, alongside former S Club 8 member Rochelle Humes. The group signed with Polydor and Fascination Records, releasing their debut single “If This Is Love” in 2008, followed by the platinum-selling album Chasing Lights. The Saturdays achieved several UK top-ten singles and albums, including their first UK number-one single “What About Us”. Throughout her time with The Saturdays, Bridge contributed to 19 UK top-ten singles and six UK top-ten albums, selling an estimated 10 million records worldwide. 

 

Television Career:

Beyond her music career, Bridge has made various television appearances. In 2014, she competed in the twelfth series of Strictly Come Dancing, finishing as a runner-up. She has also been a regular panellist on the ITV talk show Loose Women, where she has openly discussed her personal experiences and mental health struggles. 

 

Personal Life:

Frankie Bridge married footballer Wayne Bridge on 19 July 2014. The couple has two children: Parker and Carter. Bridge has been open about her struggles with depression and anxiety, revealing that she has been on antidepressants since the age of 18. In 2011, she was hospitalized after reaching “rock bottom” but has since continued to seek treatment and share her experiences to raise awareness about mental health.
