Flaming Lips The W.A.N.D. Single

When you've been making music as long as Wayne Coyne there comes a time when criticism is something that can be deflected with the ease of a Shane Warne leg spin off Marcus Trescothick's bat.

You see, his achievements with The Flaming Lips mean he's now reach that stage of accomplishment where he can do the hell he likes, and 'The W.A.N.D.' is a perfect example of that exemplary status. Whilst it's perfunctory keyboard space treks and Beach Boy harmonies don't make it a million miles from your typical Lips work of yore, there's also a beefier, RAWK element that gives it a harder, louder edge over most of it's colleagues in Coyne's ever burgeoning songbook.

So is it any good? Did you really need to ask that question…after all, it is Wayne Coyne and the Flaming Lips we're talking about here! Doh!
