When he was a baby, Ambrosio was raised by Capucin monks in a Spanish monastery. He becomes a devout monk and, as an adult, his sermons are among the most popular in the country, if not the most popular. However, most of his fellow monks are jealous of Ambrosio's success.
He soon becomes intrigued by one of his pupils. The monk in question is a woman, Matilda, who disguised herself. Ambrosio starts to lust after her and she tempts him further. Ambrosio soon starts lusting after Antonia, an innocent young girl who is a regular attender of Ambrosio's sermons. Matilda, using magic spells, helps Ambrosio fulfil his desires for the young woman.
It becomes clear to Ambrosio that Matilda isn't all she appears to be. and she hasn't finished with the once devout monk.
