This French dramatic comedy film tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a quadriplegic aristocrat who was injured in a paragliding accident and a Senegalese young offender who, under the rules of the work based project he has been put on, applies to be his live-in carer but only to get a signature to say he went to the interview. Philippe hires the young man, Driss, based on his physical strength and forthright attitude, and despite their very opposite backgrounds and the warnings given to Philippe by his staff the pair embark on several adventures together.
The film begins in Paris where Driss is speeding in Philippe's luxury car. They are caught by the police and the pair lie their way out of trouble, managing to successfully escape from them. The rest of the film is a series of flashbacks showing their life together up until that time.
The directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano (Tellement Proches) wrote the film based on a true story and released it in 2011. In nine weeks it became the second most watched French film of all time after 2008 film Welcome to the Sticks. The film stars Francois Cluzet (Tell No One, French Kiss) as Philippe and Omar Sy (Micmacs, Those Happy Days) as Driss.
Starring: Francois Cluzet, Omar Sy, Anne Le Ny and Clotilde Mollet
