Mitch and Dave were the best of friends when they were younger but over the years, they have slowly grown apart. After running into each other on a night out, both men are jealous of the other's lives. Mitch is single and lives on his own, with a number of beautiful women for his pleasure. Dave meanwhile, has a modest pay check from working at a high status law firm, a beautiful wife, Jamie and three adorable kids, whom Mitch likens to 'mini drug addicts'.
Dave loves the idea of living a stress free life like his old friend, while Mitch feels that his perfect life would be one just like Dave's. While urinating in a fountain next to each other, the two friends admit out loud to wanting the other's life.
The next day, however, it comes as a shock to Dave when he wakes up in Mitch's apartment; even more so when he discovers to his horror that he has switched lives with Mitch. While Dave has to deal with Mitch's estranged father, Mitch soon finds out that living with three young children and a wife who has problems after eating Thai food is not all it's cracked up to be. Add Dave's colleague, law associate Sabrina, into the mix and it leaves Dave and Mitch desperately trying to find a way back into their own lives without ruining the other's life.
