As Fernanda enters her final year at Tanner Hall, a rundown boarding school in New England, she is met by some surprising changes within her group of peers. A friend from her childhood joins the school. Victoria, an alluring trouble causer brings a whole new challenge to her school.
Out of the three friends, Fernanda is usually the sensible one of the group - the attractive Kate and tomboy Lucasta - but once she begins a relationship with old family friend Gio, she is influenced by her friend Kate, and begins to take risks. Kate begins to become envious of her friend's relationship, and sets out to publicly show her up. In the meantime Lucasta tries to get over feelings for another classmate, and Kate begins to unsettle teachers.
As the girls all reach adulthood, they realise that they're all in it together, and they need to stick together to help each other through it. They realise that they need each other to get to grips with growing up and making decisions, whilst being prepared to deal with the consequences.
