Spandau Ballet were one of the most iconic British bands of the 80s, incorporating style and image with catchy pop anthems and becoming a major part of the New Romantic movement. They sold more than 25 million records and landed three Platinum albums including their 1983 breakthrough 'True', as well as being responsible for the smash hits 'True' and 'Gold'. However, tensions in the band began to rise with increasingly inflating egos and brothers Gary and Martin Kemp venturing into acting with 'The Krays'. It was a cold break-up which didn't last as they reunited for another release in 2009 with 'Once More'. Now they're together again to discuss their music and relationship over the years at the Royal Albert Hall to coincide with the screening of their new documentary.
'Soul Boys of the Western World' is Spandau Ballet's musical documentary featuring previously unseen archival footage and narrated by the band members themselves. It has been directed by George Hencken (producer of 'London - The Modern Babylon' and 'Requiem for Detroit?') in his directorial debut and will be released in the UK on October 3rd 2014. Alongside this, a new greatest hits album plus three new songs entitled 'The Story - The Very Best Of Spandau Ballet' is due for release on October 13th 2014.
