Sir Ridley Scott's first sci-fi film since 1982 film Blade Runner, 'Prometheus' is set to be released on June 8th 2012.
A group of space explorers find indications of mankind's origins on Earth and they set off on a dangerous expedition aboard Prometheus, their spaceship, to the deepest and darkest corners of the universe. They find that they must fight an impossible battle to save humankind.
The film is of stunning proportions; sheer enormity is well illustrated and such magnificence is encompassed in the moulding of the sets, props, costumes and graphics.
'Prometheus' began with a briefly seen figure in the award-winning Alien which was directed by Scott. In some ways, 'Prometheus' is a prequel that has, as phrased by Scott, evolved "into another universe".
He also talks about the titular myth being the central metaphor. "[The title refers to] the Greek Titan Prometheus, who defies the gods by giving humans the gift of fire, for which he is horribly punished". As such, it is a metaphor for "humankind's relationship with the gods. and what happens when we defy them."
