With reports that Evangeline Lily is in talk to play the female lead in Ant-Man, the film looks to be taking shape very nicely. With Edgar Wright directing and Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas already on board to star, Marvel’s smallest hero might just end up being their biggest and best outing yet.

The Antman plot could be very interesting:

The story of Ant-Man is pretty complex even for the Marvel universe. The character first appeared as scientist Henry 'Hank' Pym, Pym ended up having a troubled character history and many were unsure how this would play out in the movie. However Edgar Wright has confirmed the Ant-Man movie will focus on Scott Lang as Ant-Man. In the comics, Lang steals the suit in order to help cure his daughter. Wright has kept mum about what the plot to the Ant-Man film will be but we do know it will feature both Hank Pym and Scott Lang. However Wright chooses to tackle the Ant-Man story it's sure to be an interesting one

Edgar Wright is directing:

Edgar Wright the director of Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgram vs the World first got onboard to direct Ant-Man in 2006. The director is known for bringing his own unique vision to his cinematic outings, so expectations are high for what he can bring to the Ant-Man story. What makes it better is that Wright is a passionate fan of the comic book series and really wants to give the character the best possible big screen debut. He told Entertainment Tonight in Novemenber that he thinks audiences will be surprised by the amount of action in the movie, saying “I think people will be surprised by what kind of movie it is, and so in that respect it's something that I know is going to stand out because it's got a very different story and is a very different movie.” He also revealed it would be in a similar vein to the other Marvel films and be funny aswell.

The casting:

Ant-man is to be played by Paul Rudd who’s made a name for himself in mostly comedic roles but has that down to earth quality that Marvel superheroes need. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said at the time of casting, “we knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’d ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy.” Then came the announcement of screen legend Michael Douglas joining the cast as Hank Pym, who is the original Ant-man in the comics. Whilst it’s unclear exactly how Douglass’s character will be written. some think he’ll be the villian, the veteran actor is a welcome addition to the Marvel Universe.

Phase Three is coming:

Ant-Man will be the second movie to be part of Marvel’s Phase 3 , following the Avengers: Age of Ultron. The release date of Ant-Man has already been pushed forward to March 2014. If the movie is successful it may mean that Marvel are more willing to take risks on some of their lesser known comic book heroes. We could eventually get a Wasp movie, for example, aready in development however is a Doctor Strange movie though the release date is unknown.
