DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON is set to produce and star in a new film about Navy Seals.

The muscleman will appear in upcoming MGM movie, 'SEAL Team 666', which mixes the supernatural with action scenes.

The plot follows an elite group of Navy Seals who battle demons and soon discover that there's a greater supernatural force bent on destroying the world.

It is based on a book written by Weston Ochse with a script from Evan Spiliotopoulos, who has also worked on Johnson's 'Hercules' film.

Although there is no director attached to the project yet, the 41-year-old actor will produce the feature alongside Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, as well as Brendan Deneen and Peter Joseph of Macmillan Films.

The film tells the story of Jack Walker who is halfway through Navy Seal training and is whisked away to join four Seals - and their dog - for a special ops mission.

Walker soon finds himself in a whirlwind of otherworldly creatures and events as he learns the true nature of SEAL Team 666.

Battling demons, possessed humans, mass-murdering cults, and evil in its most dark and primeval form, the squad has their work cut out for them.

'Hercules' will hit cinemas on July 25 next year, and Johnson is currently filming 'Fast & Furious 7', which is also set for release in 2014.
