Ethan Hawke doesn't want to win an Oscar.
The 'Boyhood' star was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor earlier this year but has insisted he didn't mind not picking up the gong.
He told the Evening Standard magazine: ''So much mediocrity is strung up the flagpole. I'd rather not win.
''One of my acting ambitions is to beat Peter O'Toole who got eight nominations and never won.''
That's not to say, though, that the 44-year-old actor wouldn't like to be nominated for such accolades after a source claimed he felt as though he was being treated like a ''king'' following his nomination.
The star celebrated his nod at Junior's restaurant in Brooklyn alongside his wife Ryan and their children and was amazed by the excellent service he received.
A source said at the time: ''He was being congratulated by everyone, and shaking hands.
''He exclaimed to his server, 'You guys are treating us like kings!'''
Meanwhile, Ethan - who has received four Oscar nominations in total - previously admitted he found it ''emotionally complex'' being nominated.
He said: ''I've spent 30 years training for how to handle this, and it's emotionally complex even for me.
''How do you feel if you get nominated, and how do you feel if you don't?''
