Emma Roberts was arrested following an incident of domestic violence in Montreal, Canada. She, allegedly, attacked her boyfriend Evan Peters. The incident occurred on July 7th, according to TMZ.

The Montreal police were called after hotel staff became concerned at the noises issuing from the couple's room. According to reports, when the police arrived, Peters was sporting a bloody nose. Another source reported Peters had a bite mark, although sources close to the couple deny this. 

According to the same source, the couple had both been hitting one another. Roberts was arrested as Peters was showing signs of physical harm. 

22-year-old Roberts is the neice of actress Julia Roberts and the daughter of Eric Roberts. Emma Roberts is most famous for her family connections but she has also appeared in a number of 'coming of age' films including Nancy Drew, Wild Child and Lymelife. Peters is best known for his starring role in American Horror Story (in which he starred as Tate in the first season and Kit Walker in the second). 

Roberts and Peters are not the only American couple affected by domestic violence. In the US alone, approximately 1.3 million women and 835,000 men, annually, are physically assaulted by an intimate partner. In the UK, approximately 4 million men a year are affected by domestic violence and 1 in 4 women are affected at least once in their life. 

Roberts has been dating the 26-year-old actor for over a year. Following her arrest, Roberts was released within hours as Peters did not wish to press charges.
