He might be extremely surprised that he has landed the 2017 MTV EMA Award for Best Hip Hop given that he hasn't released an album in a while, but he really shouldn't be. He recently dropped a brand new single entitled 'Walk On Water'; his very first collaboration with Beyonce and it's utterly infectious.
The song is his first single in two years (not including his 2016 promotional track 'Campaign Speech' which wasn't an official single) and it is set to feature on his forthcoming ninth studio album 'Revival'. It has been produced by Rick Rubin - with whom he worked on his last release 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2' - and Skylar Grey who he has collaborated with on various songs in the past including Dr. Dre's 'I Need a Doctor', Skylar's own 'C'mon Let Me Ride' and 'Kill For You', and Eminem's song 'A**hole'.
Skylar even stepped in to perform a live rendition of 'Walk On Water' at the 2017 MTV EMAs in Beyonce's absence, and both female singers helped pen the track which dropped on November 10th. Beyonce got involved after Rick Rubin played a demo of the song to her husband Jay-Z.
The only other notable work from Eminem this year is his collaboration with Pink on her single 'Revenge', from her latest album 'Beautiful Trauma'. Not forgetting, of course, his epic freestyle takedown of Donald Trump which he recorded for the BET Awards.
'Revival' will be released on November 17th 2017 through Aftermath, Shady and Interscope Records.
