A much-anticipated new Eminem album might not be that far away, according to a record label boss. The Detroit rapper is expected to release a new record in 2013, Billboard report.

"We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013. He's been working on it for some time," explained Paul Rosenberg, president of Eminem's label Shady Records. "It's safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we're not exactly sure when. We've got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we're trying to see what else lines up." This is the latest piece of big news for Shady fans, after it was confirmed the mercurial rapper will perform an outdoor gig in Glasgow this August. He's the first act announced for a brand new concert series called the Glasgow Summer Sessions and will take to the stage in the city's Bellahouston Park on August 20. Marshall Mathers is also set to headline Slane on August 17th, before performing at the Reading and Leeds. Busy!

For Rosenberg, it's not just getting new records out in 2013, but to enhance the online presence of the brand and increase merchandising opportunities. "With all the talent that we have on this label and all the material that we created, there's no reason that we shouldn't be able to provide a rich online experience for people that goes beyond people just checking in on when a new song or video is released," he says. "I'm very focused on figuring out how to keep them engaged and entertained so that when we do have a product coming, it's a lot easier to grab their attention or get them to buy a record or listen to it or watch a video, etcetera, than to pull them out of some other world that they may be spending time in."
