Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski has hit out at a photographer who has published nude images of her from a shoot that took place four years ago in a new photography book, describing the publication as a “violation”.

Photographer Jonathan Leder, based in New York, has recently published an exhibition catalogue which features intimate poses struck by several models he’s worked with in the past. According to Page Six, Leder published this book originally more than a year ago, but is planning to release a longer, special-edition version of the book in the near future.

“I've been resisting speaking publicly on the recently released photos by Jonathan Leder,” the 25 year old wrote on Wednesday in the first of a series of tweets, “to avoid giving him publicity. But I've had enough. This book and the images within them are a violation.”

A number of the pictures concerned were used for their intended purpose, as part of a magazine spread, but it's the use of the images that weren't published back then that Ratajkowski is concerned about.

“5 out of the now 100s of released photos were used for what they were intended: an artful magazine shoot back in 2012,” she continued.

The book’s description reads: “In May 2012, photographer Jonathan Leder found himself alone in a house with a Polaroid camera and Emily Ratajkowski. This was before the black-haired, red-lipped stunner had shot to fame with her undeniably sexy performance in Robin Thicke's arguably sexist ‘Blurred Lines’ video.”

Since appearing in that notorious 2013 music video, Ratajkowski has altered career paths and opted for acting, appearing in David Fincher’s award-winning Gone Girl the following year. She has also frequently made headlines for speaking out on feminism, particularly the right of women to take control of how their bodies are perceived.

“These photos being used w/out my permission is an example of exactly the opposite of what I stand for: women choosing when and how they want to share their sexuality and bodies,” she finished by tweeting on Wednesday night (November 30th).
