Rock hero Jack White has bought the first ever record produced by Elvis Presley, it has been revealed. The former White Stripes frontman was unmasked as the mystery internet bidder who parted with $300,000 for the unique record back in January.

In a bizarre interview with Billboard, which involved the interviewer rendezvousing with “a mysterious man with a black suitcase and instructions to hurry to meet White three hours across the state in Nashville,” the singer opened the case to reveal the valuable disc.

It's not easy to be a pioneer in music nowadays, but Barbra Streisand seems to have managed it with the release of her thirty-sixth album 'Partners'. The record has debuted at the top spot on the US Billboard Chart, making Streisand the first singer to have a number one album in six consecutive decades.

Her first album to reach the top spot was 'People' back in 1964, and she has gone on to have a further nine reach number one in the US, including her latest one. With her ten number one albums, she is now tied for fourth place with the most number one albums alongside Elvis Presley. Ahead of her are The Beatles (19), Michael Jackson (13) and Bruce Springsteen (11), but Streisand is still the most successful female artist. She has also scored six number ones in the UK album chart and thirteen in other countries. She has also achieved five number one singles, her last being 'Woman in Love' which was released in 1980.

Budweiser Made in America is getting closer all the time as we explore the nation's most musically cultured cities. Now we hit Memphis, whose famous faces include everyone from Elvis Presley to Justin Timberlake.

Memphis, Tennessee has been a massive influence on musical culture since music charts began, with a range of artists frequently mentioning the great city within their own song lyrics; think Marc Cohn's 'Walking In Memphis', Chuck Berry's 'Memphis', Paul Simon's 'Graceland' and of course Alannah Myles' 'Black Velvet'. Thus, it's only right that Budweiser Made In America bring their documentary series to the great city to explore what Memphis is all about nowadays.

Katy Perry appeared as the cover girl for the February issue of GQ magazine, where amongst other things, she revealed that she genuinely believes in extraterrestrial beings and that we are not alone. She also spoke about praying for large breasts, regretting that prayer in later life, her dislike of cannabis, losing her virginity, the beginnings of her career and much more, but it was her other worldly beliefs that has caught on.

"I believe in a lot of astrology. I believe in aliens. I look up into the stars and I imagine: How self-important are we to think that we are the only life-form?" she questioned. "I mean, if my relationship with Obama gets any better, I'm going to ask him that question. It just hasn't been appropriate yet."

Elvis Presley continues to be remembered and celebrated long after his death, and on Friday, 29 November, the King of Rock & Roll was honoured yet again at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Featuring a number of personal items loaned from Graceland, his Memphis mansion and now a permanent museum dedicated to Elvis, the new exhibit looks to pay tribute to Elvis and show off some of his more extravagant tastes and hopefully some things that will be new to a number of fans.

Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, Elvis' posthumous association with the organisation has been a regular occurrence, with the current exhibition the latest in a long succession of exhibits honouring the King. The opening of the exhibit came in tandem with the launch of Elvis Presley Enterprises, the new company set up to manage all of the late icon's business assets, including Graceland, and to conduct business on his behalf. The company was founded by his widow, Priscilla Presley.

Rihanna made chart history this weekend when her latest collaborative effort with rapper Eminem entered the chart at number one, meaning she's hit the top spot for seven years running, at some point or another. The feat has only ever been matched by The Beatles and Elvis Presley and has etched her into the history books alongside those two recording greats.

'The Monster' - her second number one collaboration with Eminem following their massively successful link up on 2010's 'Love the Way you Lie' - continues a run of form that began in 2007 with 'Umbrella' and it looks as though she could even break the eight year mark.

Rihanna has now had 8 number one singles over a period of 7 consecutive calendar years. But let's put that into perspective: alongside her fellow 'Club 7' record breakers, The Beatles had 17 number one singles in the same period, more than double that of Ri-Ri. She's got a long way to go.

In it's most recent list of top celebrity earners, Forbes has named Michael Jackson as the highest earning dead celebrity of the last year. With his estate earning an estimated $160 million between October 2012 and June 2013, not only is Michael the top earning dead celebrity, but the top earning celebrity in general.

Michael's earnings over the last year amount to $35 million more than the top-placed living celebrity, Madonna, who Forbes estimates earned $125 million between 2012 and 2013. As reported by Forbes, this marks the "third time in the past five years" that a dead celebrity has been crowned the highest earner of the year. How appropriate for a list that is released just before Halloween.

She will become the first British artist to duet with Elvis through the use of studio wizardry on a version of the well-known carol 'Oh Come All Ye Faithful,' the Sunday People first reported this weekend. The self confessed Elvis fanatic admitted to the paper that the singing opportunity is a “dream come true.”

The news has experienced a bit of a John Lennon frenzy in the past few days. The late Beatles guitarist has made headlines - or at least relics of him have - as news that someone wants to clone him from a rotten tooth and that his blue jacket have been sold at auction has emerged.

The jacket, which was expected to reach between £8,000 and £12,000 at a Derbyshire auction, was passed from Lennon to Jo Jo Johns, the band's former PA, after she acquired it after a 1971 clear-out of Lennon's house, reports BBC News. Johns then gifted the teal long blazer-style garment to her friend Tony Goddard as a birthday present and it was Goddard who chose to set the item now after 25 years of displaying it in his home.

Michael Jackson was addicted to prescription drugs and had been for well over a decade before his eventual death in 2009 - that's what his one-time doctor, Dr. Stuart Finklestein, told a courtroom via a video deposition on Monday (July 8) during the wrongful death case brought against tour organisers AEG by the bereaved Jackson family, with Finklestein adding that he had alerted AEG bosses of the singer's condition and the vulnerability of his medical condition, according to the Los Angeles Times.

As the wrongful-death trial reached its 43rd day, Finklestein's testimony detailed his long-time friendship with Paul Gongaware, the manager of Michael's extensive 'Dangerous' tour of the early nineties. The doctor discussed how, upon meeting Jackson in 1993 whilst his tour was in Bangkok, Thailand, he was suffering from severe headaches and, under the guidance of Allan Metzger - his LA doctor - Finklestein administered Demoral and later morphine to Michael until he felt hell enough to go on stage. Finklestein told the court that when he first tried to administer a shot of Demerol to Jackson, “his buttocks were so scarred up and abscessed that the needle almost bent. ... He obviously had had multiple injections in his buttocks prior to arriving in Bangkok.”

The actor who played Edward Cullen and the target of many a frenzied tweenage fan melt-down, Robert Pattinson, is set to be back in the game; only weeks after his split with Twilight co-star and long-term on/off girlfriend, Kristen Stewart. The Daily Mail reports that the pair were spotted speeding around L.A in Rob's pickup truck over the past weekend.

The relationship, described as "short-term lust right now rather than long-term love" by The Mail's source, is rather too out in the open for heart-broken Stewart, who is said to be "devastated" that her long-time lover has moved on from her since their May split. After the initial reports that Rob was dating 'I Kissed A Girl' singer Katy Perry, this last rumour is just a bit too painful for the 23- year-old. Keough and Stewart are said to be good friends after meeting on the set of 2010's The Runaways movie where they co-starred. Keough was certainly close enough the On The Road actress to be invited to her 23rd birthday celebrations - she was pictured attending Stewart's Mexican cantina birthday party.

Ah, we was wondering when this was going to happen. One Direction have added a couple more million to their bank accounts, though this time they're thinking for themselves. Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne have signed SEPARATE publishing deals to cash in on all songs they have credits for writing.

It's a clear sign that the boys are beginning to look after their own interests following the phenomenal success of their first couple of years in the industry. The publishing deals are being overseen by Fingate, the company who also cash in on Elvis Presley's back catalogue as well as work by Britney Spears, Black Eyed Peas and Foo Fighters. 

A source said: "This is a real statement of intent from the band. They have absolutely no intention of being spoon-fed pop puppets. They want to write and they want to earn as individuals." As well as the new deals, each of the five members have also invested in their own studio set-ups at home and have been attending writing sessions together after gigs. On their latest record Take Me Home, the band had three songs with individual writing credits while the others were penned by outsider songwriters. The group did not have a hand in writing the three biggest hits from the album, Live While We're Young, Kiss You and Little Things.

A man claiming to be Adele's former boyfriend and inspiration has come forward during a song request on the radio. The man, who identified himself as Giles, talked about how he and Adele engaged in a ''whirlwind romance'', and he still thinks about her from time to time. Giles phoned into British breakfast radio show on 'Magic FM', hosted by Neil Fox, on Tuesday 19th February, 2013. He requested Elvis Presley's hit 'Always on My Mind' to be played, and then explained his reasons.

''Why that one?" asked Giles, before clarifying: "Well it's for an old flame of mine, a very old flame called Michelle Adkins. I'd like to let her know that I'm thinking of her. After being asked for more information about the relationship, Giles described: ''a whirlwind romance many years ago'', and added: ''It was fun and eventful. All I can stay is it's all in the lyrics if you know what I mean."

Two men, who hacked Sony Entertainment's servers and downloaded thousands of songs, including some unreleased material from Michael Jackson, have escaped jail time today (Jan 12) after a court hearing in Leicester, UK.

The two men, James McCormick, 26, and James Marks, 27, met online before eventually collaborating together to break into Sony's vast musical database and helping themselves to the spoils, which also included Elvis Presley and Beyoncé as well as MJ. They were arrested in May 2011, after Sony identified the security breach, but not before helping themselves to over 7000 songs, as well as artwork and videos. The Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) said that the two had also conspired to sell the files on after they had been stolen, after chat-logs recovered from the pair's computers offered some rather incriminating evidence for the prosecutors to consider.

The pair first appeared in court in September last year, pleading guilty to computer misuse offences. They now face a suspended 6 month sentence each, reduced from a year, as well as 100 hours of community service. Mick Jameison, from SOCA's Cyber Department, said to press shortly after the sentencing, "These men stole thousands of copyrighted files belonging to Sony Music. Our remit is to protect businesses as well the public, and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement and industry partners to tackle online criminality."

On last night's (Nov 29) edition of The O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly distanced himself from the masses and admitted that he is in no way a fan of Korean singer Psy's massive YouTube hit 'Gangnam Style.'

Describing the singer as "a little fat guy from Pyongyang or some place," O'Reilly invited on to the show Fox News's resident 'psychiatrist' Keith Ablow to deconstruct the show, whilst also making perfectly clear that Psy is not Elvis Presley, nor will he ever be anything life him regardless of the Korean (that's South Korea, not North Korea like O'Reilly seems to think) current success.

The two spoke on the hot topic for about five minutes, with the conservative commentator and Ablow deconstructing and disagreeing with all of the hit song. At one point, Albow made the assertion that 'Gangnam Style' appeals to the masses because it is about "nothing," and that the song was mostly "without intelligible words" (and we kind of see his point).

Andy Williams songs will be played on record players across the globe today, after the effortlessly smooth crooner – best known for his track ‘Moon River’ – died on Wednesday, aged 84.

Williams soothing voice, boyish looks and easy-going demeanour ensured he outlasted many of the rock-stars of the 60’s and 70’s, as well as contemporaries such as Frank Sinatra and Perry Como. For a man who became a major star in the same year as Elvis Presley, Williams enjoyed an astonishing career and remained on the charts well into the 1970s, while continuing to perform into the 1980s at the Moon River Theater that he built in Branson. However, Williams’ television career was equally as commendable and his eponymous show lasted from 1962 until 1971, winning three Emmys along the way. It was on that show that Williams introduced the world to The Osmonds (their young sibling, a certain Donny, made his debut on the show when just 6-years-old). He also booked rock and soul acts, including The Beach Boys, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson and Elton John. His attitude to fame was perhaps summed up when he mused “I guess I've never really been aggressive, although almost everybody else in show business fights and gouges and knees to get where they want to be…My trouble is, I'm not constructed temperamentally along those lines,” according to the Chicago Tribune.

Williams never entertained the possibility of retirement and told the Associated Press in 2001, “I'll keep going until I get to the point where I can't get out on stage.” He is survived by his wife Debbie and three children.
