Over 12 years since it debuted in the US on NBC, ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’ is finally coming to UK television after campaigning by the show’s fans in Britain. The highly rated chat show, which is known for attracting A-list guests, will be broadcast on ITV2 starting next Monday (January 18th).

Announcing the news Degeneres, who has 52.4million followers on Twitter, tweeted: ‘We got Elley on the Telly! I’ll see you on @ITV2, UK. #GetElleyOnTheTelly’. The show will be broadcast on ITV2 on weekdays at 1:45pm, starting off with brand new episodes from the current series.

"After what feels like decades of campaigning I’m so excited that my show is on ITV2,” Degeneres said. "I can literally feel my crumpets tingling down in my cockles.” Last month Degeneres launched the campaign #GetElleyOnTheTelly after hearing from British guest Tom Bleasby that he could only watch her show via YouTube.

ITV’s director of digital channels and acquisitions Angela Jain said of the news: "We're over the moon Ellen DeGeneres is joining ITV2 – her daily mix of Hollywood guests, topical comedy and great conversation is a welcome addition to the channel.”

‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’ debuted on NBC in September 2003 and has gone on to win 38 Daytime Emmy awards including four for Outstanding Talk Show. Degeneres herself has also been named Outstanding Talk Show Host four times. Earlier this year NBC announced the show had been renewed until 2020.
