Elisabeth Hasselbeck has returned to 'Fox & Friends' and is "doing well" after undergoing abdominal surgery last month.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck has returned to Fox & Friends after taking time off to undergo surgery for an abdominal tumour. The co-host revealed in the opening moments of the show on Friday (14th November) why she had been absent for close to a month.
The 37-year-old underwent surgery last month to remove a tumour in her abdomen. Although the tumour wasn't cancerous, it was a necessary procedure as the doctors were concerned it could have caused serious complications. Hasselbeck explained: "I had a tumour in my abdomen, Doctor said, 'You've got to get it out by the end of the month. We don't like how it looks.' I was facing something that potentially could have gone either way."
Now Hasselbeck is ready to get back to work and appears to be recovering well but recognises she had a narrow escape. She took a moment to reflect on those who have been diagnosed with cancer and how many people find the strength to fight the disease. Speaking on the show, Hasselbeck said: "So many women and people that I know have stared down the barrel of that cancer gun, and looked at it when they have gotten bad news and done remarkable things, courageously, to fight it. I knew if I got that kind of news I would be in their wings and, by their example, able to fight it."
Hasselbeck further emphasised how she is now doing well and is glad to have received a cancer free diagnosis, she said "I didn't get that message and answer from my doctors. I got a clear and clean bill of health, and I'm thankful." Hasselbeck also thanked her family and friends for their support during her operation and recovery.
The former View host also reassured viewers she is making a full recovery and reiterated her comments to Us Weekly. Hasselbeck said: "I'm recovering, I definitely feel better every day. I couldn't be more thankful and mindful of the gift that is a clean bill of health and a benign report."
